The real surprise about this is World at War's sales i think. Especially in Britain. I always presumed the Europeans in general have kinda disdained world war II (Britain might be a different story, just like Britain's preference of 360 over Europe's PS3)

Considering that World at War is part of the same franchise as Modern Warfare, a game that sold in huge quantities all over the world, it's not really a surprise at all. Those perceived attitudes have nothing to do with it.

Trust me, I live in the U.K and people absolutely love reliving the wars. I can't name any Medal of Honour or Call of Duty, world war type game that HASN'T done well in the charts. We are also completely swamped with people who are 'casual gamers'.

WiiFit has become almost impossible to find in the UK both at retail and online. The only places with stock are either selling it in a bundle or way way over the RRP *cough*Amazon*cough

Wasn't Professor Layton and the Curious Village #7. I read the chart somewhere else.

Click Source and you get to the chart used for this article. They're using the one that glomps all the formats together (ie if your game has a DS and a PS2 version, those get counted together with the 360 and PS3 versions). In that chart, Professor Layton's #10.

There's also a chart which shows them separately, here:

http://www.chart-track.co.uk/index.jsp?c=p/software/uk/latest/index_test.jsp&ct=110032

In this one, Professor Layton is #7. Yay! And Call of Duty doesn't turn up until #6 - below My Fitness Coach and Mario Kart Wii - because the 360 and PS3 versions are separately counted at #6 and #10.

I think the separate chart is better in general (because the combined one gives REALLY silly numbers when you do have a game with like DS and PS3 versions) but the combined one does have advantages too (combining PS3/60 sales makes sense).

Oh, and: obligatory where-is-Layton-2 comment.

"The strangest story is Wii Fit's, however, as it has jumped up from 33rd to 1st in the last three weeks. We're not sure what sparked this Wii Fit resurgence ... "

I think the answer to that would be newyears resolutions, many people have them, losing weight is often one of them. [citation needed]

I wonder if the skate 2 sales were partially motivated by the fact that it is one of a very small number of games that uses the wii fit board.
