Xbox 360 Fancast 101: Brave New World [update 2]

This is it, kids, the first episode of the Xbox 360 Fancast under the Joystiq Xbox banner. In this week's episode, we do our best to explain exactly what's changing and what isn't. For the most part, Things will be exactly the same around here, only with even more timely news and a much nicer design. The Fancast, however, will remain exactly the same. Give it a listen and be sure to give us your feedback!

Unfortunately, the changeover to Joystiq Xbox has borked our iTunes feed and probably our Zune feed as well. We're working on fixes for both issues, but for now you can either download the MP3 directly or manually subscribe to the RSS MP3 link below.

[iTunes] Subscribe to the Podcast directly in iTunes (MP3).
[Zune] Subscribe to the Podcast directly in Zune Marketplace (MP3).
[RSS MP3] Add the Xbox 360 Fanboy Podcast feed (in MP3) to your RSS aggregator and have the show delivered automatically.
[AAC] Download the enhanced AAC directly.
[MP3] Download the MP3 directly.

Been expressing my worries over the X3F site becoming more a less a filter of the main Joystiq page (too many posters dilute the personality). I hope things stay the same and we still get the occasional "Our console's better than yours!" posts.

From a developer standpoint I like a lot of the features and might try to implement one or two in my next project.

Good luck and keep on pumping out my favorite podcast.

Yeah, the only thing worrying me about the change so far is that there's been very few posts by Richard, Dustin and Xav in comparison with posts from Joystiq since the update. Don't get me wrong I love the new design, but I'm starting to miss the personality that Richard, Dustin and Xav inject into their posts.

Granted they may not have had time or news to post and I could be completely wrong but oh well.

Yeah i love the personality of Xav, Richard, and Most of all Dustin; now these other editors(honestly, no offense) are a little lacking in that field..i also personally feel like there is a lack of community now to; i liked the sense of being in a smaller website

Agreed! When I came to the site today it was a different place... and I am not talking design either (actually, I like the new look and feel quite a bit, so kudos there guys!) No... more like who the hell are these alien writers posting on one of my favorite sites, and where the hell did the team i know and love go?!

Honestly... I am sure it's a good move from a revenue/traffic/business perspective, but only one day in and I feel (and am apparently not entirely alone in this) that this site has already lost much of what made it a unique, fun place to come to... It used to have it's own unique voice/slant, now it just sounds like Joystiq... Which, don't get me wrong I hit joystiq several times a day too... but I really did prefer xbox360fanboy.com as it's own site, with it's own slant on the news and it's own little group of commentators... I'll give it a few more days, but I can't say I like the direction this is taking :(

I suppose I'll keep reading joystiq regardless, but now I feel like I'm being forced to find a new 360 fanboy community since the one we had seemingly evaporated over night. :(

im having trouble downloading it on zune...wondering if anyone else the same problem

yup, i get a 404 from the itunes podcast link.

I knew there would be hardly any posts from the regular X3F crew. I also feel less inclined to post when I see it's been pushed from another fanboy site like PS3 fanboy. You wana say "I can't wait for this on 360" but the comments page is on PS3 fanboy.

Yeah, it's been a depressing day for xbox360fanboy regulars :(

I wonder if the other fanboy sites are feeling the same sting?

RSS seems borked, too. Both with the old RSS address of http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/category/podcasts/rss.xml and the new one in this post. I see the podcast, but it fails to download.

Zune feed is unresponsive! Second week in a row. Is it the whole site restructuring thing?

PS When you fix the feed, please include the new image as the podcast image. The stretched out Fanboy pic is too pixel-y.

Same thing. Atleast on the Xbox RSS feeds we see the episodes (unlike the Joystiq podcast feed, the episodes aren't even listed.)

itunes still not working, downloading direct but its takin forever: 6min for a 42mb file is just awful.

still gettin used to the new look: as long as the 'xbox tab' still has the same fanboy flavor im not goin anywhere.

ZUNE FEED IS WORKING

Hey kids, the RSS MP3 link should work now. If you subscribe with your feed reader of choice (iTunes, Google, etc), it should work. If anything changes again (and it might), we'll be sure to update.

With the new episode atleast. The logo isn't appearing and the old episode links are dead.

You mean 900-1000. The Doll achievement and another one makes it so close to impossible for me to get the 1000.

From a branding perspective you guys have to keep the name X3F.
Instead of Xbox 360 Fanboy, it's now the acronym for the Fancast.

I was so sure it was Resident Evil, but now that I think about it, Halo Wars could be it.

Help, It does not work after i downloaded the MP3 file and put it into my MP3 player. The player is not playing the file. Anyone else got the problem?
