I didn't think Brawl did that well for some reason. I'm glad it did, maybe Nintendo will make an expanded version now that corrects the problems and adds Megaman, Simon Belmount and brings back cut characters. I don't care if it's greedy.

I miss how the comments that were voted up darkened. It allowed me to skip all the useless dribble that most commenters said and read the good opinions. Now I have to look at the hearts, which is neither as quick and for some reason, as easy.

The three hearted posts now have a blue background instead of being darkened. It's much easier to pick out.

The blue background is useful, yes, but there needs to be a slightly less blue background for comments with 2.5 stars.

I would say that these sales would justify sequels sooner than later.

It's likely Grand Theft Auto IV will get a sequel most likely in this console cycle, and we know there will be a new Call of Duty (this year) and Guitar Hero (Metalica this year).

What I'd like to know is will Nintendo make Smash Bros and Mario Kart sequels for the Wii? Like I said, these sales would justify making a sequel, but would Nintendo do it? Traditionally, Nintendo has had a Mario Kart on every system (except the NES) and a Smash Bros on every system (except the SNES and NES, and it's handhelds). Would these sales be enough to break that pattern?

I'm sure sequels wouldn't be too difficult to make in both cases, and could be enough to add some more longevity to the Wii's life. Plus, I know for myself, I'd love to have a Smash Bros with a better working online component. My experience has been nothing short of terrible... if I connect to a game, it's way too laggy to enjoy, which is odd, because Mario Kart is so enjoyable online.

No precedent for Mario Kart or Smash Bros sequels on the same console. Nintendo's money train will continue to capitalize on those titles, as well as Wii Fit, and the forthcoming Wii Sports Resort to carry it onwards into the future

Punch-Out!! may do well enough in a short span of time, but it's not a multiplayer game (at least, not that we know of) so it's potential is limited.

I'll tell you this: I bought GTA IV at launch, but they've really got their work cut out for them to get me to buy GTA V.

Disappointment doesn't even begin to cover it.

Saints' Row 2 FTW, I'll definitely be buying SRIII when it comes out. Hell, I may even pick up a 360 if the new chipset turns out to be reliable, just so I can play the first game.

I can't fault any of them games. All deserve to be up there.

Quite surprised to see GTA get 13million and be on 3 systems. I thought they would have sold more.
Brawl did 7 million and it is only on 1 system.

2 things wrong:
1) the wii has a much larger install base so 7 million copies sold to 40 million wii owners is not a big deal.
when you compare 8 million copies of halo 3 were sold last year to about 17 million 360 owners.

2) the gta sales data only inlcudes 2 platforms which install base equals the wii.

Nah... Too many were buying batman on blu-ray rather than lbp. Sony's focus on pushing blu-ray first doomed the ps3.

I dont think blu ray sales trade off with LBP sales at all. How did MGS4 and GTA sell at all then? And the fact that every single blu ray player out there isnt a PS3

yeah the dark knight release did not anything to do with the LBP sales data.

if anything the extra dark knight ps3 blu ray player advertising helped sony during the holiday season.

trunks did you really think LBP would have sold over 7 million copies to 17 million ps3 owners???
this years top 5 is a big list of high sellers.
i thought LBP would have sold 3-5 million copies.

Hmm 3 of the top 5 are Wii games , lmfao. Imagine if the developers took their thumbs out of their asses and actually spent time making good Wii games?

isnt it funny also that those 3 games are all first party nintendo owned game franchises???
the top nintendo games last year were also 1st party nintendo games.

nintendo consoles have never done well with 3rd party support in the past.
nintendo has always relied on themselves and their strong franchises.

3rd party developers and nintendo dont seem to mix well...

trust me if the developers thought they could make millions off the wii they would be doing that now, which they have tried and lost many millions of dollars from bad nintendo investments.

Nice, 3 Nintendo titles and the other 3 are multiplatform huh.

As I see it, Nintendo is owning this generation

Because, you know, there are also Nintendo sales on 2 of the 3 multiplatforms games, so, Wii is on 5 of the 6 places there

This is interesting, however I will look forward more to the NPD "Global Numbers" than these. Maybe they aren't any more accurate but, seems like they may have some more specific numbers.

Thank god GTA sold more than Wii Fit, or I'd have to give up on gaming forever.
