The hike up to Darm Tower is taking longer than expected. Atlus has bumped the release of Legacy of Ys: Books I & II for the Nintendo DS back two weeks from its originally announced February 10 ship date. Now set for release on February 24, the publisher notes that the entire first printing of the upcoming RPG will now come packaged with the game's soundtrack CD, originally intended just for those who reserved the game.
The bundling is part of a "fan appreciation" effort called Atlus Spoils, which according to Atlus is intended to "give a little extra something to the company's faithful followers." The announcement follows yesterday's reveal of Devil Summoner 2, which will come stuffed with a free Raiho plushie. Now here, take this hankie and wipe those silver tears from your eyes.

Oh my! Have to say, this makes this a must buy for me on the first run then. I STILL to this day think that the Ys Book I & II soundtrack is one of the best that was ever written. Now that its just included with a purchase, and not a pre-order, I'm in!

Dude, that's just awesome. I adore the original soundtrack to these games -- even Wanderers of Y's had a really solid arrangement. Gotta get this release simply for the CD, haha.

I'm simultaneously relieved and disappointed. Disappointed because I was looking forward to this more than any other February release. Relieved because I can cancel my preorder and go somewhere I hate less than Gamestop to get the game, and wait til March if money's tight after Fire Emblem, Retro Game Challenge and Street Fighter IV come out.

Lol, I'm sad, not because I got the wrong version, but because I love the game and soundtrack so much that I'm going to end up buying it twice.

I kinda wish this could be delayed a bit more. There are just way too many DS games coming out in Q1 that I want.

Glad the soundtrack is for everyone.
Sad the game is shipping later.

This is great news for me.
I can only afford one game to myself for my birthday and HotD:O takes that honor. Plus, I don't feel like spending $35 on Ys from Gamestop just to get the soundtrack. Now, If I had not already bought Ys on VC, I'd be set........
