Mirror's Edge Time Trial DLC delayed to February; PS3 exclusive map on 1/29

Ever wonder what Faith from Mirror's Edge dreams about? Tom Farrer, producer of Mirror's Edge, answered this question on the PlayStation.Blog: "She apparently dreams about enormous abstract sculptures floating above an endless sea!"

The upcoming time trial DLC pack for Mirror's Edge was originally scheduled for release tomorrow. However, Big Download reports that these additional races will come in February. The delay should give fans a bit more time to practice their skills -- the DLC adds new Trophies that only the most hardcore players will be able to achieve. (At the time of writing, we haven't seen if the 360 version will get new Achievements as well.)

While the premium maps won't be available until next month, PS3 owners will still be able to download a system-exclusive map on the PlayStation Store tomorrow. "Synethesia" will be free to all owners of the PS3 version of Mirror's Edge. A trailer can be seen after the break.

Regarding the comments, I know I'm not as inclined to visit the site as much anymore since the redesign... dunno why exactly. I've been visiting 1up and IGN more often for news now. Guess I just don't like the redesign.

Damn, these look like they would be a lot of fun to go through. And I do kinda dig the explanation as being a dream world. Very much reminds me of some levels in a certain Nintendo platformer though...what was that game again? Oh yeah, Luigi's Mansion.

If the achievements are going to be impossible, I'll probably just skip it. I'm not a big fan of the time trial stuff. If the achievements would be somewhat achievable, I might have checked it out.

I was looking forward to some more Mirror's Edge tomorrow as well :(

We're not sure if the 360 version will get new achievements yet. We didn't see a new achievement list uploaded for the game yet. Hopefully!

It good to see PS3 getting some DLC but why is in the Xbox section.

Probably because the delay was important to both consoles, and it was easier to tag it with both consoles than write a whole entire new article.

This new site is really confusing >.< I really like the ps3/psp tags though. They make getting the news easier. However this article doesn't even show up in the ps3 section.

Good news about the PS3 maps...

I've got a question, with this whole amalgamated site they've got (PS Joystiq, Xbox Joystiq) does that mean all stories that show up on PS Joystiq will also show up on plain Joystiq? Cause if that's the case, I'll just unsubscribe to the plain one, all I care about are PS3 and 360 news...

Certain PS/Xbox/Nintendo articles, you know, the big news, will show up on the main site. Each individual segment of the site still have their own articles.

What is the main joystiq reporting on if not nintendo xbox 360 and PS3 news? I suppose they have the occasional PC story in there, but they have all looked like the same stuff to me.

I don't like this new "Ultrastiq" because I just seem to find myself caring less and less about the stories and comments in the Xbox joystiq because it's lost all of it's Xboxy flavor. It feels less like the X3F I liked and more like the old joystiq that has been off my bookmarks for months.

I think this format can be saved with time as you hopefully become more distinct in each section rather than just posting the same article in every section and making us guess at what the hell the current Trophy to Achievement exchange rate just to read the news. I personally would like to see each of the sections comments kept to their own section because I am more interested in what Xbox 360 owners and fanboys think about the story than non Xbox people. I could probably adjust to the comments staying how they are now, but the lack of distinct xbox flavor is kind of a deal breaker for me.

Yeah I think the main problem is that the comments are all kept together. So Xbox only people, Sony people and Wii people aren't able to have their own discussions. You even notice that the person who says he misses X3F get downvoted above because it talks about trophies

Agreed... I don't like this new format. I visit X3F for Xbox 360 related news and the X3F comments, not the whole of joystiq. Almost feels like the old X3F has been killed off with these changes, don't think i'll be commenting much now.

Anyhow good news for those who bought it on PS3, not so much for Xbox 360.

LOL I just noticed that! It is pretty bad, but the best part is after they try a silhouette of a joystick against different color backgrounds they will have completely exhausted their current brand logo options because they apparently don't want to use the perfectly fine 360 logo that they used before.

These levels look interesting. I can't decide if I like them or not. They sound like they will be fun.. but I really like the city setting that Mirror's Edge is in. That's one of the big positives for me. Its just got such a great aesthetic.

Bah, I was going to maybe buy this tomorrow if I liked the free map enough. Oh, well. At least I get to try the free one tomorrow.

There's nothing wrong with just saying Trophies. You know why? Because Trophies for the PS3 are all that's been confirmed as of yet. If there was an announcement of Achievements for the Xbox 360 as well, it would have said "Trophies and Achievements." It doesn't mean that this site is leaning toward Sony terminology, it just means that some things aren't supported across the board.

This is why the new joystiq model doesn't work. This article has NOTHING to do with the 360....yet i found it on xbox.joystiq.

I go there so I DON't have to wade through articles that don't pertain to what I'm looking for. Now I have to do so more than ever. Congratz, joystiq, you managed to take a system that worked fine, and make it more convoluted. Brilliant job.

Yes, the minor part of this news post is about the delay of DLC that concerns both platforms. The much larger segment is for PS3 exclusive DLC, which people visiting X3F shouldn't have to be subjected too.

the article is on the xbox section as the delay effects both 360 and ps3, it saves having to write more than one article

You'd end up seeing pretty much the same article on each site anyway, what's the big deal...

Anyway, the DLC looks awesome to me though. It reminds me of Xen from H-L, or crazy user made online maps, only I'm sure these were probably planned out much more carefully than your average user made dribble.
