Report: Warner Bros. rebooting Tomb Raider film (sans Megan Fox)
Warner Bros. is preparing to restart Lara Croft's celluloid career, reports ComingSoon.net. The rights to a Tomb Raider film were reportedly included in the deal when Warner acquired approximately 20% of publisher Eidos last year. How this particular franchise reboot -- overseen by producer Dan Lin -- ties in with Eidos' alleged plan to redesign the iconic protagonist (again!) remains to be seen.Chances are she won't be played by Megan Fox, though. According to a rumor making the rounds yesterday, the Transformers star was poised to succeed Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft in a third Tomb Raider film. However, according to What They Play, Fox's spokesperson says the actress is "not involved in the movie at all."
Sorry, Fox fans; looks like the role of Lara still belongs to Angelina.

Sigh. Another awful Tomb Raider Movie in the works
Hashbrown Hunter @ Jan 28th 2009 5:58AM
Well at least it doesn't have Fox's terrible, terrible acting in it. Sadly, the only thing she has going for her is that she's good-looking. Besides that, she's a horrible actress.
I prefer the Oscar-nominated and even more beautiful Angelina Jolie for that role. And she was actually a great choice.
AwesomeTown @ Jan 28th 2009 7:15AM
@Hashbrown Hunter
You pretty much said exactly what I was thinking.
Get out of my head!
Magallanes @ Jan 28th 2009 7:17AM
I agree with hunter, Angelina Jolie is a way better actress and did pretty well in Tomb Raider 1 (tomb raider 2 was a bit dull), Tomb Raider 1 for a game franchise did pretty well (i don't remember other game franchise in movie with such success, or another game franchise that its worth to see).
Fox otherwise is not a actress, she is pretty but nothing else much. And transformers was so damn awful, truly i don't want to remember about this movie anymore. Megan Fox can fill in a adult cover magazine and thats it.
Lord Negatron @ Jan 28th 2009 8:34AM
Exactly Hashbrown!
Although i am not a Tomb Raider fan( i haven't watched any of them in their entirety, same for playing the games), we sometimes forget Angelina is a great actress. Megan is eye candy, if that, depending on your tastes.
Hashbrown Hunter @ Jan 28th 2009 6:02AM
Actually, since this IS going to be a reboot, they might ditch Jolie in favor of somebody else. The studio better be taking the right approach to this, though. I don't want another glimmer of hope for the videogame movie to turn out like Max Payne did.
InFaMoUs1- @ Jan 28th 2009 6:45AM
megan fox? her face ever move or show emotion?
Magallanes @ Jan 28th 2009 7:19AM
Much like the game.
LaughingTarget @ Jan 28th 2009 8:44AM
"We're sorry, Megan Fox BETA release 1.0 is designed to run on low end systems and we have currently disabled facial animations. We will just have to use a static texture as a fill in until we reach production level. However, due to the current economic climate, we lack the funding to go forward and we will release the current release build for free as we can no longer go forward with development and do not wish our gorgeous looking product to disappear."
Biff_McFresh @ Jan 28th 2009 10:04AM
Do you count making a scrunchy pouty lip facial expression?
PSN: Aggie_CEO @ Jan 28th 2009 7:25AM
oh HELL Naw.........
how the Fuck they pick HER ass over that round ass of Jolie's!??!?!
BananaBoat @ Jan 28th 2009 8:00AM
Wait....wait...hold the phone...when did Jolie become a good actress? I know Megan Fox is all sex appeal and no acting chops, but isn't that what everyone said about Angelina Jolie...like...yesterday?
Whatever. I'm just glad Megan Fox isn't spoiled by the likes of a Billy Bob yet. I'd like to be her Billy Bob. You people can be her Brad Pitt, I don't even care.
Maverick Saturn @ Jan 28th 2009 8:14AM
No, theres a difference, Jolie is a good actress that gets shitty movie roles most of the time, check Gia for an example.
Fox is a rubbish actress that also gets crap roles, and even the relitively good movies she acts in, she somehow makes them look terrible, her acting in Transformers was horrid.
LaughingTarget @ Jan 28th 2009 9:21AM
Wait, Megan Fox and Shia LaBeouf weren't Transformers as well? I was wondering why they acted so robotic but never actually transformed into a cool car or anything. That explains a lot to me. Thanks.
Maverick Saturn @ Jan 28th 2009 8:17AM
What irritates me is Tomb Raider has the ability to be good, give it a bit of Indiana Jones meets Pirates of the carribean esque drama and special effects with a bit of King Kong like exploration and of course some superb action scenes from the guys responsible for the Bourne films and bam, you have a killer Tomb Raider movie, but somehow ¬_¬ They manage to soil it, ground it to nothing but the dust of stupidity.
Movies are screaming nowadays for innovation, style and proper storylines!!
Hashbrown Hunter @ Jan 28th 2009 9:14AM
The first Tomb Raider got close, and wasn't that bad. The plot just ran on fumes by the end and things got Indiana-Jones-4 weird.
I DeX I @ Jan 28th 2009 9:56AM
The first Tomb Raider was alright, the second one sucked. What bums me out is how good it COULD be. Great premise and Angelina is the perfect Lara. So why the hell do they dump a ton of moneyz into these type of movies without a decent script? There are an ass-ton of talented writers out there. I suppose they spend so much on production, not much to spend on the story.
I DeX I @ Jan 28th 2009 10:01AM
Regarding the last Transformers movie, Gahhhh!!! I grew up with The Transformers and loved them. The movie, great effects/production, the acting was fine, but the story line was so freaking horrible. Now they are pushing another one out this year already? I would hope for the best, but I will be sadly disappointed.
Michael K. @ Jan 28th 2009 10:04AM
I thought that the main selling point for tomb raider was sex appeal... I still don't understand why they would pick one of the ugliest actresses to play her
SpOOkyLarS @ Jan 28th 2009 10:09AM
Why no go with Rhona Mitra?
ttp://estaticos01.cache.el-mundo.net/elmundo/fotos_gente/2006/03/30/1143723293_extras_fotos_gente_0.jpg
Granted Angelina was good, but to revamp the franchise you have to start over. Fox is sexy, but certainly lacks in the acting department. If they go young, perhaps Odette Yustman.
Hashbrown Hunter @ Jan 28th 2009 5:38PM
Yeah Rhona Mitra would be a stellar pick for a new Lara Croft. She's definitely a tough chick and could probably hold her own in a starring role (haven't seen Underworld 3 and don't plan to so I do not know if she's good as a lead).
Tuxy79 @ Jan 28th 2009 10:23AM
Good. Angelina is still way hotter than Megan Fox.
I still won't watch it though.
Batzarro @ Jan 28th 2009 10:40AM
I do hope they substitute Jolie, though. I don't really feel her for the role.
The Alex @ Jan 28th 2009 11:42AM
I'm glad to hear Megan Fox isn't involved, she's hot, but she's no Lara.
Plus, it's not like Angelina couldn't pull it off again, if she wanted too.
I am a little disappointed about this reboot crap. Sure the first two movies weren't great, but they weren't bad enough to justify a reboot this soon.
forestofdeath @ Jan 28th 2009 11:58AM
well, i guess there IS a way to make angelina jolie unattractive. please..take that picture down. :[
Hashbrown Hunter @ Jan 28th 2009 5:40PM
What about her MASSIVE lips? Seriously, those things look like caterpillars.
aahatimy @ Jan 28th 2009 1:33PM
Will it have King Leonidas and James Bond in it?
Karbon @ Jan 28th 2009 3:12PM
I know she was a Tomb Raider model before but I'll be damned if Rhona Mitra from the new underworld movie wouldn't be great as Lara
