A recent Activision job listing for an "Art Services Screenshot Associate" has a very telling description of the required duties: "Perform advanced retouching of screenshots and teach skills to others as needed." Basically, beyond the laundry list of other duties, Activision is looking for a "Bullshot Artist."
One of our favorite bullshot moments is pictured above -- did you know that NBA Live '08 sports freakish half-men on the court? Consider this a reminder to the impressionable out there: a lot of screenshots are lies, and Activision is looking for a new Photoshop fibber to doctor them. Oh well, at least someone in this industry is hiring.

It kind of goes a little something like this. You can't make a nickname up for yourself because it won't stick - it has to come naturally. You also can't pimp yourself as being an industry bullshot artist because you got mentioned by a gaming blog for a photoshop you did. No one likes people that have to tell everyone else how great they are at doing something.

Hey I have to say that the Phil Harrison photoshop was the sickness. I have to give credit where credit is due.

I'd say yeah, apply, but do this first. Get some RAW images from a few popuar games and start touching them up. Remember, comedy won't get you this job but think along the lines of taking a screenshot from Guitar Hero World Tour and move characters around while making it look faithful. Try to push for my dynamic lighting. Do about 8 of these and THEN apply.

I can explain this 'bullshot'. It's actually legit. This game has a hidden 'Back to the Future' mode, where your team goes back in time to play a ball game crucial to the fate of man kind. As you play, and as your team gets closer and closer to defeat, they start to disappear all Marty McFly style. GREAT SCOTT!

I remember when Capcom used artwork that had an IGN watermark for their Wii cover of Okami. It wasn't a bullshot in this more traditional sense but was certainly not something to be proud of. After I had heard about it I saw the cover in a Best Buy and couldn't stop laughing. Poor Clover Studios.

I can't wait to say I told you so. No way in hell is GSP going to beat BJ. Just like there was no way Arlovski was going to beat Fedor.

Hopefully that doesn't happen this time. His last few fights have shown a committed Bj Penn. Even with gassing in rd 2 last time I still thought he beat GSP. You are also assuming that GSP makes it out of RD 1.
What you thinking about Machida vs Silva? Looks like that winner gets a title shot at Evans next since Rampage is inked to fight Jardine. I want to say machida but after his fight against Tito where he couldn't finish him and got caught in an arm bar I am thinking Silva with a 2 rd KO.

The biggest problem was acquiring an aging and fragile Jermaine O'neal. I don't think they will be able to keep Chrish Bosh when he is up for that big FA class including Lebron & Wade.

Hearing bullshot artist makes me think of history of the world part 1 where comicus gets labeled a bullshit artist by the unemployment lady.

It is the patriotic duty of every Joystiq reader to apply to this job, just to waste Activision's time.
It helps if you make yourself sound qualified.
If you want help with your fake resume, IM me or email (get it from my site)
I'll apply this weekend.

A 4 year degree required for something most nerdy teenagers do in their spare time?
Puhhhlease. My neighbor's 15 year old can work a screenshot like it's nothing.

Yes, but is your neighbor's 15 year old somebody who can work with deadlines, communicate in a professional manner, and do all the boring minutia associated with a real job? People often forget that a job that requires creativity is still a job.
Anyway, I looked at that job posting link and it says "This job is inactive" so it's either old, or they removed it due to the extra attention it's gotten.

My 15 year old neighbor probably can't tie his own shoes, but that's not the point.
I didn't forget the usual requirements of a normal office job, I was merely pointing out the ridiculousness of the requirements they posted. The assumption is that it supposedly takes 4 years of college to master the primary job function of doctoring screen shots. That's a joke. Whereas it doesn't take much schooling (or any, for that matter) to learn how to be and act professional in an office environment.
