This Saturday is the 12 anniversary of Final Fantasy 7 and Square-Enix is releasing a trailer of Final Fantasy 7 to honor it.

''January 31, 2009 is the twelfth anniversary of Final Fantasy VII in Japan. In celebration, Square Enix will be releasing a trailer related to the twelfth anniversary of Final Fantasy VII. Exactly what that trailer is we're not sure of. However, take a look at the words on the page "We all hope to meet FFVII again!!"'

from SCRAWLFX.com

doubt its a remake but it should be awesome to view none the less

That's in Region 2. Japan (& NA) is in region 1, so it wouldn't work if it's region locked. (Which most movies are I think)

BLU RAY MOVIESARE REGION LOCKED. Just the blu ray games aren't.

The region for Europe and Japan for DVDs are the same.
However, blu ray is different.. So it won't work. :(

Does anyone have any information on whether or not there will be English subtitles for this release? I've read that both Japanese and English audio will be available for the movie, but I want to be able to watch the movie in Japanese with English subs. If it doesn't, I'll just wait for the North American release, I guess.

Any word on a release date for that, also?

I was worried about the same thing, but I remembered that I have the original movie, and already know the story. I'll be getting this just for the eye candy, and the demo.

Does anyone know if the blu ray movie is region locked or if North America shares the same region as Japan?

Play-asia listed "english" and "japanese" next to language. YAY.

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-a7-49-en-15-advent+children+complete-70-384b.html

But looks like the demo is only in japanese, as expected. I'm sure someone will post translations online by the time it's out.

J,

I don't know if it's region-locked, but I do know that Japanese Blu-Ray will work in NA consoles. Whether it's because it's region-free or that there is no lock, I dunno. But it works.

"Wow" and "eff yes" come to mind. Seeing KYLe forming (along with a bit of a Den of Woe feel, pop-under ads be damned (twice, in fact)), more action (really? they turned their bikes into a two-man gunning vehicle?!), and even a scene from "Denzel" for THE NOVEL (CAPS for accuracy, not emphasis, though all of this is emphasis-worthy).

A definite buy. Here's hoping Sony puts PS2-compatibility back in by its release, 'cause this would srsly crave me sum Blu-ray playin' (though there IS that Blu-ray/VCR combo player...).

According to play-asia, it includes English. Don't know if that just means for subs, but that's good enough for me.

If its anything like the original DVD version it will have a like 2 hour long (I may be exaggerating I'm not sure) recap of FFVII in all its PS1 graphical glory. it was actually just as enjoyable watching the movie length recap (in Japanese) as the actual movie.

If there's no re-cap, I'd avoid it and get around to playing FF7 first. Watching Advent Children with no knowledge of the happenings of FF7 would be somewhat comparable to flipping on a television and deciding to get into Lost from the current episode. It doesn't exactly make a lot of concessions for newcomers. It's 100% pure fanservice.

That is ridiculous.

Movies and CDs are -expensive- in Japan. When I went on vacation in Tokyo, I thought I found paradise in Shibuya - until I saw the prices. I made do with 3 cds, and that set me back near 80$.

I now have that song "If I had a million dollars" stuck in my head. The trailer looks amazing and I would import it in a heartbeat if it weren't for the money. Hopefully Square will re-release the blu-ray in America later for less money (probably without Complete set though). After it's released in Japan, I'll youtube the demo so I can at least check out more of the gameplay/set up.

I'm very impressed that SE decided to actually change some things for the Blu-Ray release. And it shows. Almost 3/4-ths of the entire trailer was composed of new scenes. And it's in stunning 1080p.

I may have to buy it again.
