Rock Band Weekly: Thin Lizzy, Pat Benatar, The Pretenders ... Nikko

For next week's Rock Band offerings, Harmonix is doling out a quintet of five classic rock songs from the likes of Thin Lizzy, Pat Benatar and The Pretenders. And hey, if you're too young to know who any of these people are, there are a couple of Nikko songs for ya (no relation to Nico of Velvet Underground fame), from the movie Spectacular!

Videos for these songs can be found after the break. All tracks are masters and will be available for download next Tuesday and Thursday for Xbox 360 and PS3, respectively.

Awesome, I love Thin Lizzy. I'll have to see how the live versions sound (I don't have any live recordings of theirs), but I'm sure I'll be picking the pack up.

I know GHII had Bad Reputation, but I'd like to see that again too.

I've been waiting so long for Thin Lizzy tunes on Rock Band!!!! The youtube clips posted here arent the live versions that are gonna be used for the game - go to youtube and check out the versions from the live album LIVE AND DANGEROUS (one of the greatest live albums ever made, by far)

And hopefully somewhere down the road they could put out more Lizzy tunes (like Emerald, Waiting for an Alibi, Cold Sweat, Chinatown, Angel of Death, and Opium Trail, for example)

Finally! Thin Lizzy has been overlooked far too long! I wish they picked some of their better songs, instead of just going with the hits. I would have loved to see something like Emerald, Black Rose, Massacre, Soldier of Fortune, or Angel of Death, but anything at all is welcome at this point. The lousy cover of Bad Reputation on GH2 just didn't do it for me. Hopefully there will be more in the future. The entire Black Rose album would be perfect.

Hell yes!! I agree with everything you stated. Maybe now Thin Lizzy will get the credit they deserve; they've been overlooked over here in North America way too long. Greatest Hard Rock band ever!

Red_Paladin, thank you, you are a great person. No one appreciates Thin Lizzy anymore...I like Zeppelin and Queen and Rush and all of that, but no 70s band is better than Thin Lizzy, they are the best band of all time. I wear Thin Lizzy shirts and stuff all the time and it makes me sad how many people ask what that is...they don't even realize it is a band...terrible. I'm only 24, and have been listening to them for years, there is absolutely no excuse for anyone else not to.

I have a suggestion to take care of those idiots saying "first!" in all the posts:
Just make all the comments replies to those posts so that it super spams their emails.

Also any word on this on the Wii?

hasn't the wii been getting the DLC songs the same time as the 360, i just got a few at the DLC launch, and that is about it, i'm waiting for the maiden and bodom tracks

Thank you for the videos, Joystiq. You helped me this week make purchase decisions but didn't last week.

I'm in for Thin Lizzy and The Pretenders. I do think it's interesting that "The Boys are Back" hits the DLC line a week after it was announced for Guitar Hero: Metallica, making me think it got licensed to both at the same time. I love the original, but I'm curious about the live track.

Sweet will be getting all of these.

"Hit Me With Your Best Shot" is good, although if anything, GH III showed that the guitar riffs (converted to rhythm-game-ese) are kind of boring.

If it was "Heartbreaker", I'd be leaving work early to go download it, and play every part for the rest of the day. Oh Harmonix, why did you let Guitar Hero get that song first???

Awww.... I got super excited when I thought there were Nico tracks... only to be crushed when it turned out Nikko wasn't a mispelling, but an abomination from Nickelodeon :(

Still, the Thin Lizzy tracks will be rad!

Those Thin Lizzy songs should be awesome, especially Jailbreak. Probably end up getting "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" as well at some point, although not till I actually get Rock Band :p. Difinitelly a first day (of when I have rock band) purchase though.

RB2 is out on PS3... it has been for a while.

Also Nikko? Really? That corporate over-produced adolesent bull**** doesn't even deserve to be in a game with rock in the name! I meen listen to the opening lyrics to the first one. Basically saying "Look at me, I'm not fitting in with what society wants me to - I'm cool". That isn't rock, thats almost poser by definition.

You know as much as I like the song it is on GH3,World Tour and now in Rock Band.There are more songs from Pat Benatar than Hit me with your best shot.

It's not in World Tour - that's "Heartbreaker". Unless you meant "On Tour" for the DS...
