Greetings Program. With a sequel to 80s nerdgasm TRON set to digitize theaters in a couple years, Disney Interactive Studios is already rumored to be working to put an adaptation of the upcoming film on the Game Grid. The news follows reports earlier this week of layoffs and studio shrinkage at Disney's video game arm, though according to Variety this hasn't stopped the company from talking to potential game developers about the project.
Master Control has not yet revealed what the rumored game will be like. Perhaps it will be a shooter like Monolith's TRON 2.0, or simply let us dress up a grizzled Jeff Bridges in a variety of rotoscoped outfits. End of line.

They announced it at Comic-Con (I think) and there's a teaser floating around online with Jeff Bridges. Check it out. It's really badass.

I think there's a general lack of news about the project besides the fact that it exists and Jeff Bridges is attached.

I felt the same way when I heard about it for the first time.
A tron game has the potential to be life-alteringly awesome or just terrible. Lets hope they don't fuck it up.

I thought nerdgasms were a direct result of jacking it to anime porn.

I once saw a Jesus Cosplayer in a line chanting "Yoai, yuri, hentai!". I love cons.

Have NOT seen the movie yet (will do soon), but I believe that now is the time for GOOD game classics. As long as they don't screw it up (though there's a 90% chance they will).

BUT Ghostbusters looks awesome. So there's still hope for nerdy 80s flicks!

Am I alone when I say TRON 2.0 was amazing?

Yes. Tron 2.0 was fantastic! Great shooter with actual role-playing elements where you could develop your character's abilities and customize weapons. I actually still play it every now and then and even have the action figures from the game (http://us.st12.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/usacomicbooks_2039_59931516).
I hope the new game uses ideas and game mechanics from 2.0. That game truly felt like the sequel to the movie.

The only reason I'm not still playing TRON 2.0 is because my PC is crappy. But I loved that, and considered it the canon continuation of TRON, which I think it was at the time. I even bought the followup 6 issue comic book. I loved most of all how they depicted the digital world 20 years later. Familiar, but obviously updated. My personal favorite was the overwhelmingly neon Internet City, which an almost Coruscant flair to it.

Is it going to be an HD version of something like Armagetron? I'd pay $60 for that!

I'd settle for a great XBLA lightcycle game ala GLTron.
