This is about as tenuous a rumor as there could possibly be because: A) We don't know if the Factor 5 Kid Icarus game was ever real. B) We don't know if this image or the previous concept art was actually from that hypothetical game. C) Even if it was real at some point, the game is most certainly dead now, due to the state of Factor 5.
Rumor: Early Factor 5 Kid Icarus model flies out

Early last year, we saw some potential concept art for a Wii Kid Icarus update from developer Factor 5. Today, NeoGAFfer Shiggy posted what may be an early character render from "late 2007/early 2008." We've included the original Famicom Disk System version's character art for comparison.

Well, that's early alright. Incredibly rough and bland looking. As such I can't really rule this design out. However, I liked the direction some of the earlier concept art models took quite a bit better.

This is obviously a fake.
Nintendo are known for their consistent design, and if the game was ever in production, the character model would have looked the same as the one in Super Smash Bros Brawl.
More noticeably... those wings in that render are obviously fake. Look at the angle of the body, and you will notice that the wings aren't even on his back. His butt is facing the camera, which makes the angle completely illogical - the wings would be more forward, and closer the camera; based on the angle of that shot, they're actually sitting on his right hip.
It's a Photoshop, and a really bad one at that.

Eww god, this is some boring shit. Looks like it was made by the same guys who made Shadow Madness or Covert ops: Nuclear Dawn ..... for those complaining about how bad the newest "petz" game you bought turned out to be, I say to you....... You dont know bad!.
Anywho, if Factor 5 isnt working on the new Kid Icarus the next logical game for them to make would be a proper Mario title, because you know...Mario (just like pit) could fly in some of his games and Factor 5 Is the Master of everything avian.

I highly doubt this is the Kid Icarus that will actually arrive. After the scenes that Nintendo showed in Smash Bros Brawl, they won't revert to a more manly Kid. This was either A) one early character model render out of many, or B) some fan is having fun with 3D Studio Max. I opt for B.
