It looks like players won't have to wait until after
Killzone 2 rolls onto store shelves to get their first taste of combat. A Sony Europe rep has revealed that a demo for the anticipated shooter will be available on the European PSN on February 5. It will be available on the US PSN at the same time, but only to those partaking in
GameStop's pre-order deal. It appears the uncommitted will have to wait for a general PSN release on
Feb. 26 -- or attempt subversion via a European account.
"I can confirm that this will be live on the PSN store on Thursday 5th February (same day as SCEA) across all SCEE PSN locales," wrote Sony Computer Entertainment UK Limited's Hugo Bustillos in an email. According to Bustillos, the demo will consist of the first two areas of 'Corinth River,' the game's first level, described as 'beach landing' and 'warehouse.' A tutorial will be included as well, ensuring that all ISA greenhorns will be up to speed when the full game arrives for the PS3 on February 27.
Update: It's live! [Thursday, Feb. 5, 11:00 am ET]

Sweet, so I don't need the Gamestop preorder then? I'll go cancel it. ^_^
Hyams @ Feb 2nd 2009 8:42AM
Huh. I can't find anyway to cancel the pre order. 0_0
Help, anyone?
baby sea tuna @ Feb 2nd 2009 8:56AM
Walk into the store and have them move your $5 over to some other game. Though I seem to remember that you're not near a store or something, right? If so, you might be screwed...but at least you're assured a copy of the game, so that's something.
Hyams @ Feb 2nd 2009 9:00AM
I live in England. XD
Anyways, I've just sent them email asking them to cancel it for me.
PSN: Aggie_CEO @ Feb 2nd 2009 9:35AM
Hyams you ordered online????
why did U do that??? lol.....
didnt you read a few weeks back that the Demo would be on your PSN normal time???
oh and how are you liking all that snow?? lol
Hyams @ Feb 2nd 2009 9:48AM
I thought it wouldn't arrive on the EU PSN until only a few days before release. *shrugs*
Also, the snow is annoying me. It just won't stop, and I can't go out anywhere.
Snowball fights in the house are fun though. =)
PSN: Aggie_CEO @ Feb 2nd 2009 9:58AM
oh ok.
and snowball fights in the house use to be fun back in the day. hell you might wake up to a faceful of snow. lol
Hyams @ Feb 2nd 2009 10:16AM
Crap, I can't cancel it online. Got to go down the store to do that, which is of course impossible.
Oh well, there goes £3.50 on a demo code I don't need...
PSN: Aggie_CEO @ Feb 2nd 2009 10:20AM
damn, has it charged you already??? if not just put a stop on transactions coming from gamestop. lol

No interested but I'll post here nonetheless.
Haggard @ Feb 2nd 2009 11:52AM
Your input is welcome.
akshaycaussy @ Feb 2nd 2009 8:40AM
OMG! I knew i was going to get the demo for free because of what SCEE said prior but this is excellent! That means i can get it before it comes out and i can get it in Europe. All i'm waiting for now is the review which is due on here today and the actual release date :).
This, Resident Evil 5 demo and Prince of Persia epilogue DLC will keep me stoked for a few months!
Dirty @ Feb 2nd 2009 8:41AM
The same day as the halo wars demo.... what a coincidence.
Maverick Saturn @ Feb 2nd 2009 9:27AM
Coincidence? More like 'what a blessing' :D
kamikaze @ Feb 5th 2009 4:02AM
you going to buy the games anyway right...so why bother canceling the pre order...
you pre order at the store in person..or online...either way...there no canceling..it just 5.00 dallor down and 54.99 totall later anyway...unless you just wanted to forget that five dallor...yeah that the only way you can cancel you order ... i guess...
akshaycaussy @ Feb 2nd 2009 8:43AM
This Kills Halo wars anyday =/
Hyams @ Feb 2nd 2009 8:46AM
Ah, so Killzone *is* a Halo killer after all.
:P
PSN: Aggie_CEO @ Feb 2nd 2009 9:33AM
Well Halo Wars isnt even FPS.........
Maverick Saturn @ Feb 2nd 2009 9:36AM
Halo Wars needs a bit of the Starcraft chemical, dark and sinister :)
B @ Feb 2nd 2009 8:43AM
BELIEVE
PSN: Aggie_CEO @ Feb 2nd 2009 8:43AM
so people that pre-ordered @ Gamestop get nothing??? lol
Thanx Amazon!!!
You Saved me $10 AND I got a Home Outfit that I will only use a few times.......lol
PSN: Aggie_CEO @ Feb 2nd 2009 8:50AM
ok so After the Clarification you guys made I guess I'll just use my EU Account.....lol
B @ Feb 2nd 2009 8:56AM
*high five*
Amazon is the way to go with this. KZ2 on Amazon also has free shipping and no tax, I guess both of those vary depending on where you live
Khaled @ Feb 3rd 2009 1:06AM
Yep. I bought it yesterday from Amazon I didn't even know about this, just got it for the $52 deal. I will use the costumes though.
akshaycaussy @ Feb 2nd 2009 8:46AM
Good thing there is no Pre-Order deal for the Demo in the EU. Though it is sad i will not be wearing the home outfit anytime soon. SCEE will probably charge us like £6 for the whole suit. Go figure. I can't wait for the demo!
Haggard @ Feb 2nd 2009 11:57AM
You can get an exclusive theme if you pre-order at play.com though
They're at £30 which is the cheapest I've seen, so I might as well.
akshaycaussy @ Feb 2nd 2009 8:53AM
Ouch! No demo, now i feel bad for those who cancelled their Pre-Order. Then again 75% of people are going to get it from the EU anyway.
baby sea tuna @ Feb 2nd 2009 8:59AM
Fuckin' Europe.
Way to get my hopes up like that, Joystiq. Well, at least I'll get to play Halo Wars that day.
Hyams @ Feb 2nd 2009 9:00AM
Just make an EU account, and download it from the EU store.
xFenixKnightx @ Feb 2nd 2009 9:05AM
What he said. Its pretty easy and quick.
PSN: Aggie_CEO @ Feb 2nd 2009 9:19AM
yea I have an UK account.....and a HK account....and a JP account....
Maverick Saturn @ Feb 2nd 2009 9:27AM
Big up the EU :P
Except the fact we usually get things last
Maverick Saturn @ Feb 2nd 2009 9:28AM
Big up the fact Guerrilla is dutch :D
PSN: Aggie_CEO @ Feb 2nd 2009 9:31AM
@Maverick........you damn sure didnt get Savage Moon Last........Waited a MOnth for that game
Maverick Saturn @ Feb 2nd 2009 9:35AM
Ha! Serves you guys right for getting everything first or second.
Vcize @ Feb 2nd 2009 9:52AM
Here's a question. Is there any way to set the PS3 to log in to a certain account on bootup? When I just had the U.S. account it logged me in automatically, but a while ago I created an EU account also and now I have to pick the account I want to log into everytime.
Can I make it just log into the US account automatically, and I'll just sign-out whenever I want to log in to the EU account?
Hyams @ Feb 2nd 2009 9:55AM
Yes, there's a way.
Scroll over to 'Users', highlight the account you want, press Triangle, and change Automatic Login to 'on'.
xFenixKnightx @ Feb 2nd 2009 9:00AM
=)
Duke @ Feb 2nd 2009 10:11AM
Fenix, now we have to get some mp action going with Killzone. I keep saying each weekend I am gonna put time into MP only to get distracted. (PoP did it this weekend!) When KZ2 drops, I'm planning on logging some serious time.
Cyro @ Feb 2nd 2009 12:06PM
@ Fenix: How do you create a EU account in the PSN ? Sorry, I don't know how to do it.
akshaycaussy @ Feb 2nd 2009 9:05AM
Making a account for a country you don't live in is Illegal but nearly everyone does it =/
Dirty @ Feb 2nd 2009 9:10AM
Breaking the law, breaking the law.
xGeneral DEATHx @ Feb 2nd 2009 9:21AM
Ram it Down...
PSN: Aggie_CEO @ Feb 2nd 2009 9:25AM
illegal???
how so???
baby sea tuna @ Feb 2nd 2009 9:26AM
I think it violates Sony's EULA.
Not that anyone reads those things...
Maverick Saturn @ Feb 2nd 2009 9:28AM
Not if nobody knows about it, wink wink
master811 @ Feb 2nd 2009 9:28AM
Not sure what world you live in, but I'm pretty sure there is no law against making a PSN account in a country you don't live in.
PSN: Aggie_CEO @ Feb 2nd 2009 9:29AM
I read one a while back when I signed up........Dont recall seeing anything about making an account for somewhere you dont stay against the rules.......else why wouldnt they just LOCK it via IP address like they do the US Vid store?? or Home??
not to mention being against the EULA doesnt make it illegal does it?? just makes it Against the rules of the EULA
