Killzone 2 demo hitting Euro PSN on Feb. 5 [update]

It looks like players won't have to wait until after Killzone 2 rolls onto store shelves to get their first taste of combat. A Sony Europe rep has revealed that a demo for the anticipated shooter will be available on the European PSN on February 5. It will be available on the US PSN at the same time, but only to those partaking in GameStop's pre-order deal. It appears the uncommitted will have to wait for a general PSN release on Feb. 26 -- or attempt subversion via a European account.

"I can confirm that this will be live on the PSN store on Thursday 5th February (same day as SCEA) across all SCEE PSN locales," wrote Sony Computer Entertainment UK Limited's Hugo Bustillos in an email. According to Bustillos, the demo will consist of the first two areas of 'Corinth River,' the game's first level, described as 'beach landing' and 'warehouse.' A tutorial will be included as well, ensuring that all ISA greenhorns will be up to speed when the full game arrives for the PS3 on February 27.

You know something thats always baffled me, why are the helghan wearing gas masks on thier own planet, but the invaders are not? :S

Because....

Because it makes them look bad-ass. I don't think they need a reason other than that.

Because only years of exposure to Helghan's atmosphere and radiation causes Long Burn. Most Helghast have to wear masks all the time, no matter where they are, because of their damaged lungs.

The ISA don't expect the war to last long, so didn't bother giving any masks to their soldier to protect them.

Not all Helghast have to wear masks. It's mainly the working class that suffer from Lung Burn, because one of the primary jobs on Helghan is mining, which results in a lot of exposure to the atmosphere and radiation.

When Visari rose to become the world's leader, though. he made it a sign of honour and pride to wear the masks, which is why *all* soldiers wear them, even (presumably) those who don't suffer from Lung Burn.

Okay, fine by me :)

With the pre-order demo, only fans will try it and they'll report it's great no matter if it really is or not. But with a free demo, we can try it for ourselves and get a critical evaluation of the game.

Just create a new profile, and then when you're setting up a PSN account for it set the area to somewhere in Europe.

Youtube is your friend.

Though in my opinion, you can do it without help.

like I told the other guy do it the same way you do an US account but pick "United Kingdom" as your country instead of United States. just look for an address in UK online somewhere and use that. not hard at all.

dude. Killzone 2 is alright.

don't understand why the crouch button has to be L2...plus the fact that you have to HOLD it the entire time...is retarded.

Halo1 is one of the best FPS with friends.
KZ2..idk. the button layout is what makes this game retarded.
super pretty game though.
