New Dark Void videos are jet-packed with action

Recently, MonsterVine.com posted four gameplay videos of Airtight Games' Dark Void and, truth be told, we think it's high time that jet-propelled transportation became the norm.

You can view all four aerial combat videos after the fold. The footage is full of nifty 180-degree turns, mounting sequences that add a welcome bit of variety, and plenty of technological evil to destroy. That said, we would really like to see an expanded color palette, because as much as we like gray and blue, visual variety is always a good thing.

This game looks really good...Original IP's are always welcome in my book

I was wondering when Ironman was going to come out. They sure are taking there time with it.....

I was thinking it looked a lot like Iron Man when i saw it, but that game sucked, and hopefully this one doesnt :D

It's good to have a new IP, but some extra thought into giving us a variety of enemies would be nice. From everything so far they are all the same

I don't know how, but those videos have removed any excitement I had for this game. They make the game look boring.

I'm sure that all the videos are from the same environment, but the setting is bland and boring.
It doesn't look like there is any real sense of danger. When that pilot got out of his cockpit did they auto kill him? They could have been a seriously intense fight and one that caught the player off guard, but they just auto neck snap... lame. At least let me tap B to neck snap.

The game is still too cool of a premise to ignore completely, but these videos have not helped the games case at all.

doubt it. There is almost no chance CAPCOM will even try to advertise it with all their other games, its not well known outside of enthusiast press, the visuals are very bland. Things aren't looking good for this game. Hopefully it'll still be good

Yea, I'm not convinced about this game yet. It looks like it has a lot of potential, but so far the footage I've seen has been less than exciting. That's not to say it won't be good, but it has to prove itself the way Dead Space/Mirror's Edge did for many, and LittleBigPlanet did for many, many more...

Capcom is going to get paid this month with Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 5. This game looks like it's going to be a money maker to. Capcom has so many original IP's they can hardly keep up with them.

Are these videos from an older build of the game because they don't look as polished as other recent videos released?

I agree that this game needs an expanded color palette. The blue and gray going on makes it look very sterile and bland.

I'm not digging the flying squirrel/snake aliens in the first video. They don't look like they belong in the game at all.

I still think this game looked better when it was first announced back in 2006 or 2007. It had this whole steampunk look going on and was pretty fresh. Now it looks like a sterilized IronMan meets The Rocketeer meets the Geth from Mass Effect.

Exactly what I was thinking. Does Capcom have a job opening for a texture artist? Coz they really should.

This game looks like it relies heavily on phong shading instead of textures like ancient PS1 games did. Terrible looking game so far from a visuals standpoint.

And the flying squirrel aliens..I lol'ed.

yeah CAPCOM, stop putting effort into your games! Why develop all these cool engines for all these cool games when you can take the same game, slap some new "features", and add a random polygon on every other surface you can claim it looks better than the last one

Actually Bionic Commando looks like its shaping up to be a really good game. And that whole SFIV being shit.......Have you seen the reviews so far?

You can tell it is still very early. I hope at least. It seems bland but it's an interesting concept and the way Capcom has been going lately I think this one is going to turn out pretty great.

I can't wait for this game to come out. There is a lot of promise in these videos. Capcom is my new favorite publisher. SS2THDR street fighter 4 and this game!!!!!!

if they replaced the quick-time events with some Shadow of the Colossus style gameplay that would be sweet, then again QTEs are becoming as much a staple of popular gaming as no health packs and cover systems

hmm... idk it doesn't really strike me a whole bunch. its interesting with the whole vertical aspect though, really gives it more depth (literaly and figurativly). this could make for some interesting bosses

Who cares about reviews. The game looks and plays like shit. (i played the arcade version) I hate the art style so fucking much.

I really love the look of Dark Void so far. And jet packs are cool. As is vertical cover.

I actually like that MonsterVine site that posted the videos as well.

Yet I bet you like Rock Band.

I hope they make an action figure of the guy, he's pretty badass looking. Hopefully the game is as cool

I'm loving Capcom lately. Games like this, Bionic Commando, Lost Planet, etc are making me pretty happy. This generation is like the return of action games. It's part of the reason I liked the PS1 so much more than the PS2. I got my eye on this guy.

Looks a lot like iron man but hopefully it's better....

The gameplay on the ground looks EXACTLY like Gears- which isn't necessarily a bad thing :)

It's like H.A.W.X but with a human! I loved how the game plays. There is a lot of potential for some frantic action sequences. They however need to touch up on the visuals. They are quite 'minimal' as of now. Also, when the character shoots the jet guns, his hands need to be somewhere close to his body and not hanging from the sides. It looks very awkward, lame and totally rips off the 'cool' factor of the jet guns.

I will be keeping an eye out for this one! Looks promising.

If this is made by Capcom, maybe Frank West will be an unlockable character.
When does it come out?

i wonder if for the ps3 version they would use the six axis motion controls with it...

then it would be warhawk with jetpacks, and maybe a story?
