Yes, but this is not a first person shooter. You want first person shooter elements go play a first person shooter. There's about a million on the PS3 right now to appeal to the baser needs of killing things faster and more quickly. The game is a complete 180 from anything you Call of Duty cast offs enjoy playing. It's slow, methodical, and above all, a thinking game. If they wanted it to be like Left 4 Dead or anything else they'd try to emulate a similar control system. As it is, it's as suited for RE5 as you can get without become Gears of Evil or 'Left for Resident'.

Vote me down all you like. It won't change the fact that legions of gamers who were playing the original back when you fps kids were crapping yourself and revelling in it, will be buying it in droves.

If bad controls heighten the game's tension then the next game should have a Quadriplegic stuck in a a hospital bed. You just sit there and watch the zombies come and eat you.

Everytime there is a post on RE5, I see a bunch of people complaining about the controls. I just can't figure these people out. Do you not understand RE? RE4 was PERFECT. It is NOT Gears of War. It is NOT Bioshock or any other FPS. It is Resident Evil, which a lot of people love. It should NOT be like those other games.

This series requires a very different set of skills and style of play than a faster run-n-gun type game. You have to plan your shots a little better. You have to manage your ammo more. You have to use a different kind of strategy. If you keep dying, you're not playing the game right. Sometimes you have to stop shooting and run away from a group of bad guys to survive. It definitely takes some skill to find a good balance between timing your movements and making your shots. If you can't get it, practice or find a different game. Just stop trying to turn RE into something it isn't meant to be!

By the way, moving and shooting is about as unrealistic as it gets in games. No real human can move so perfectly from side to side (often over debris, stairs, etc.) while maintaining such accuracy.

How accurate do you need to be to hit a zombie a yard away from you?

Well, since this is Resident Evil... I'd want to be pretty accurate because I know the 15 bullets I have in inventory are gonna get used up pretty quick on the hoard of undead that are 3 yards away.

@DarrenHollywood - RE's controls are slower on purpose. You aren't supposed to be able to wipe out a whole room of enemies all at once. You'll often have to take a few shots, run away, turn, and shoot again. It is slower than other games, but it is meant to be that way. It isn't glitchy at all.

What the hell are you talking about? The game was not scary at all. It was unbelievably frustrating to play which is why I couldn't even finish the demo. It's fine if you like it but I haven't played RE4 and was interested in RE5's story. I might go back and finish the demo but I'm not sure I'm willing to spend $60 to get frustrated. How can slowing down a game to make it "scary"? F.E.A.R is scary. Condemned is scary. RE5 pisses you off.

I actually didn't say anything about the game being scary. I said that it is slower on purpose.

I found the controls frustrating becasue they don't suit the game. The controls increase the tension and the horror. So they completely fail now that all the tension and horror has been removed.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't like the feel of the demo. I love all of the RE games, clunky controlls and all, and the fact that it took me several tries to complete each stage in the demo made me seriously question my gaming abilites. When did I become such a noob? I guess I'm not a noob after all.

I'm curious why do you think its "meh" Gameplay? Controls? Its a serious question cause I absolutely loved RE4 and was expecting equally or greater in the sequel. Maybe RE has lost it touch now with all the new games in its genre LOL!

I'll cut the game some slack because I wasn't used to the controls. But I tried all 4 control settings and NONE of them are intuitive unless you've played all the RE games before. I don't care what the RE fans say about the controls being bassackwards to enhance the tension of the game. If you're going to give me several different control schemes, then let ME decide how I want to control the game. There is no reason to have to hold one button for another button to do something.

And the lack of walking when you attack is stupid, if you slash the zombie with a knife it just backs up, making you put the knife back to move forward and pull the knife back out to slash it and not be able to move if something else decides to attack!

The knife is a last resort weapon. You're not supposed to run around chopping people up Ninja Gaiden style. Use the knife to push a zombie back then run away.

Demo didn't really do anything for me. The controls were stiff, the enemies all the same, and I had trouble having ammo enough to get rid of all the zombies.

The demo was fun except for the extremely horrible controls. Re 4's controls were fine for it's time, because there was no Gears of War yet or anything of the sort, so of course 4's controls felt great and new. But now that they have been far surpassed already, it's time to improve yet again because the controls feel ancient and game breaking once more.

Ok... so I've been downloading this demo for over an hour, and it's 30% done... WTF people, stop clogging the internet pipes!!!

Also, I'm very disappointed the KZ2 demo codes didn't work today like they said they would a couple weeks ago.

I played the XBL demo a while ago, but not online. I just got the PSN demo and played the heck outta it. Being able to play online is amazing. This completely blows Left 4 Dead's experience outta the water.

The PS3 version seems to struggle with the frame rate at times, so once again the 360 version appears to be the best one if you have both systems.

After playing Dead Space, there is no excuse for RE5 to have those horrible controls. Most RE fanboys bring up the defense that "it adds atmosphere/suspense to the game". Dead Space had enough atmosphere and suspense that rivals most survival/horror games. And the best thing about it is that the controls are actually not a problem.

In my opinion, ALL survival/horror games (yes, that means RE as well) should have the controls like Dead Space. And for those of you saying that you can't walk and shoot in real life, IT'S A FUCKING GAME. Not a fucking shooting simulator.

RE5 did incorporate some controls from Dead Space (intentionally or not). You can now strafe, and use the right trigger to shoot.

It can't be a shooting Sim, the main character doesn't even know how to reload his gun without you telling him to combine ammo with gun.

All you guys dissin' RE5 are idiots. This will be game of the year. It will outsell Gears 2, Killzone and GOW. You all will curl up in your beds wondering why you are so wrong.

Just because the game didn't sell well doesn't mean it's a bad game. Dead space got good reviews all across the board.

Dead Space > RE Series.

Am I going to be the first to say this? I have the same problem with RE5 as I did with RE3. It's an action game dressed up like Resident Evil, but without the controls that would make playing it fun. So much of what I did in that demo was counter-intuitive to the way the battles occur and I will go on record as saying I HATE the way anything you kill just bleeds ammo. I'm fairly certain those flying thingies in Shanty Town aren't packing heat but drop bullets they did.

I didn't like it either. Reminded me too much of RE4 which I tired to play though on the wii (before selling it) and after seeing that little napoleon guy I just gave up.

I'm sure something equally bizarre will pop out of this game if you can even make it that far with the awful controls.

Oh and why I am telling the main character to combine gun ammo with the gun. Can't he just figure it out or in the 3 minutes of me constantly dying over and over again while that gungy looking chick that kept saving me, did I somehow manage to miss the reload button?
