"we take a loot at Xbox 360 freezing issues"

Take a look?

I also was having issues with Fable 2 freezing - the solution I found was a simple one - install the game to your HD and play from there. Once I started playing from the harddrive I was able to complete the game with not even one more frozen moment of gameplay.

Ask Joystiq Xbox, really? What was wrong with X3F? I thought you were keeping X3F.

X3F is still kept for the podcast. As X3F works for: Xbox 360 Fancast. Though It will not be used for anything else (I don't think) because things such as Ask X3F doesn't make sense when their name is now Joystiq Xbox instead of Xbox 360 Fanboy. (Hence the X3F part of Ask X3F)

Hopefully this answers your question! :)

Deck is right. X3F is still the name of our podcast. Since I draw on more people than just the hosts of the show for answers, Ask X3F doesn't really work.

I agree Mauricio, Joystiq Xbox is just too cumbersome and awkward for me. I'm not a huge fan of the change from xbox360fanboy.com to the new set up but even at that I would rather "Ask Joystiq" over "Ask Joystiq Xbox". That's just my two cents, and I'm sure the community appreciates the help either way.

I ended up installing Fable II to the hard drive, it hasn't frozen since. Only strange thing with that is no other game has that same problem.. Oh well. I'm stuck with no space on my hard drive till i beat Fable II, which isn't terrible, since I don't have much I want to download for Rock Band lately....

The update was to fix the HDMI audio issue.

Now I know how to remove a credit card from my LIVE account. My friend put in his credit card and bought a year of LIVE. About 9 months later, he cancelled it. Than, when his 1-year of LIVE expired, it automatically charged another year to inexistent credit card. He *played* along and after a month, Microsoft suspended his account.

Funny, i got a new arcade on Saturday and until today its been fine. When i play W@W my 360 freezes during the match. Its only happened a few times so im hoping its the games fault. *sadface*

I have had random freezes but I would be concerned if the freeze is the result of a particular onscreen problem. My first 360 always froze in Madden 08 and only with Madden 08. A freeze was always preceeded by the cut sceen of the outside the stadium stands view. I replaced the game disc for a new copy and still the same problem. I did a little research and found that some graphics intensive games generated more heat out of the power brick (okay I really didn't know this honestly). Unfortunately for me my power brick was suffocating behind the tv stand. I relocated the power brick and it minimized the problem but I think the damage was done and it would still freeze. Fortunately I purchased a warrenty and exchanged the console. My 2nd console has no freeze issues and my power brick is now stationed in a location so it can breathe freely and heat up the room on a cold winter day. Once in a while I get a freeze connecting to an online game but I think this is more about the connection than anything else. If it is happening to you in COD W@W it should be no suprise. Some game sessions have connectivity problems that terminate the round.

Actually. You can't remove a credit card from Xbox.com
Only lets you add or change a payment option. Its very very annoying.

I don't remember how, but I have removed CCs. The credit card I started up with years ago is not online anymore cause I don't have it anymore and I removed it. I do remember it not being user friendly though. Maybe I just changed card details to my new card... That would appear as though the old one was removed. Not sure.

I remember hearing i could, and i checked, and i couldn't. However after reading the question i followed the steps and this time around I was able to remove credit cards, so whether it was added recently or for awhile, well it's there now. Now i don't have to worry about charging points to my ex's card and having to go through hell. It's a good day. No more worries.

This used to be a huge issue, that there was no way to remove a credit card from your account using the website. You had to call customer service to get it removed, and success in doing so was hit-or-miss.

Good to know they finally pulled their heads out of their... well, that they finally allow you to do this with a mouse click.

My account stuff doesn't even look remotely like yours. I've tried IE, Firefox, and Chrome to see if it was a browser issue but it isn't. Maybe you are an Xbox VIP because I have tried multiple times to find a way to remove my cards online and can't. I've called 1-800-4MY-XBOX four times in the last two months and their servers are 'always down' and unable to change payment options. I also called them eight months ago when my first 360 Elite was stolen and they couldn't do it then either I don't remember why and they wouldn't even help with the stolen 360 other than to mark the S/N as stolen if it ever came in for repair. I never received a call or email so I guess the one stolen from me miraculously will not RRoD :(

I am getting really frustrated because I have two gamertags, one I started out with ages ago 'DNC Tribley' and the one I currently use, 'DNC N7.' I wanted an account with less of my name and more of my gaming spirit, (hence the Mass Effect reference) and I did not want any of my credit cards associated.

Does anyone know of any other recourse to remove credit cards? I would literally delete my first gamertag but unfortunately I have a lot of DLC attached to it, so I would just like it to be a silver account.

Here is a photo of my account page with personal info removed:
http://flickr.com/photos/34525399@N08/3252987628/sizes/l/

Oh and yeah, it may say 'Joystiq Xbox', but this will always be 'Ask X3F' in my heart ;)

I agree with AoE. I know merging all the "Fanboy" sites with Joystiq was the best thing to do for you guys but what if we didn’t like Joystiq…we’re fucked.

2 reasons I didn’t like Joystiq.
1)The commenters/readers. I don’t care for people that feel the need to comment on every fucking post with absolutely nothing to say. Fernando Rocker I’m looking at you.
2)There are a few bloggers on Joystiq I didn’t care for either. Now they’re all up on our beloved X3F. I mean xbox.joystiq or whatever.

In short. I loved everything about X3F, the writers, the commenters…all great. I didn’t care at all for Joystiq.

Now its more like you guys got new jobs at Joystiq and I followed you over.

I can say I don’t visit the site the xbox.joystiq site as nearly as much as I visited X3F.

I still listen to the fancast though. Keep that going. You make commuting to and from work a hell of a lot easier.

I used to click on X3F 20 times a day...now it's like 2.
Never cared for the culture that Joystick has created.

Giant Bomb here I come. Damn. I need to find a good 360 (only) fansite.

I will join the chorus to say that I do not enjoy the new Playstation-centric xbox.joystiq.

The 360 is horribly engineered? Really? And you're trying to retain the xbox360 "FANBOY" readership?

Since the switch it seems like 1/2 of the comments are along the lines of "xbox is teh suck" what with all the Playstation trolls (to be fair, they've got a lot of time to troll as it's not like there is ever any interesting news on playstation.joystiq, what with only 2 or 3 good games total to discuss - and they certainly aren't busy PLAYING with their playstations, as I'm sure they're bored with said 2 or 3 good games by now...)

I'm just about done with this site. An actual 360 fan site will undoubtedly spring up in short order. I'll keep checking the comment boards for a good cross-link and then it's goodbye joystiq! Anyone know of a good 360 site, because I'm ready to move on...

To be fair, even when we were X3F, we never gave Microsoft a free pass on bad products. The Xbox 360 fails way more often than it should, plain and simple. I've been through two of them, Dustin's been through at least three, Xav is on his fifth, and Alexander has been through three.

Being a fanboy doesn't mean you turn a blind eye to your console's faults. It didn't mean that when we were X3F and it doesn't mean that now.

I just wanted to throw my voice in and say that I think the comments made by Richard were fair. Perhaps I am biased, what with my being on my 5th 360, but the hardware issues that the 360 has had should not be downplayed.

Too many people are jumping on the "xbox.joystiq.com hate" bandwagon because things are different. I am not saying that there are not legitimate complaints or concerns with the sites slightly altered direction but let's not kid ourselves into thinking that the recent site changes have really changed things all that much.

I have to comment on what you said to FatAtHeart. You say to go to mange your account via xbox.com and add/edit/remove at your disposal. Now, I have to ask, I've clicked remove, since there's my mom's inexistent credit card on there, and it says, can't be completed at this time, called xbox live support. I've called them, and they won't remove it or anything. Is there an easier way, so the account doesn't try to redeem itself? Or is that all there is?

Actually, you cannot remove your CC information from the website. When I had enough of XBL Gold b.s., I went to the site to downgrade my account. Why not on my Xbox? Because I was having connection issues and finally had enough. My PS3 works just fine, while the paid service was acting flaky I could not take it anymore.

Xbox.com allows you to edit your billing information, EXCEPT for the CC info. The only way I was able to cancel my membership was by talking to the horrendous phone support jackoffs.

Microsoft makes it difficult as hell to cancel your membership or simply downgrade from Gold to Silver. Typical.

The new look/name change isn't a huge deal, though I don't really like it. That's not an issue, it's a preference that isn't being tailored to, and that's fine.

What is an issue is these linked posts. I want to see the releases before the jump. I don't want to have to take a jump to see that one game I don't care about is coming out just to make Joystiq HQ's job easier. It's not difficult to post the story individually for each section and if you would just type it as words without the "fancy" Microsoft Office looking tables it wouldn't even take as long as this Now Playing thing. It's not the most thorough way to do the new releases and looking at the comments, the vast majority agrees.

Additionally, I should not be discussing a multiplatform game with Ps3 users if I'm reading the story on Xbox Joystiq. I don't understand how many complaints it will take for Joystiq to care about what it's readers want. This kills the atmosphere, the healthy discussions and the community feeling. I'm really just sticking around for a little while longer to see if anything else gets ironed out. If Joystiq has no problem ignoring the tons of comments it has gotten requesting the same things (after Joystiq has the nerve to write things like "tell us in the comments, we're listening!) then Joystiq has nothing for me any longer. I know I am not alone in feeling this way.

You're right, but what I meant was the redesign or rename isn't the huge deal, it's the "all posts everywhere are now one." This could have the old layout and old Fanboy name but with it's cross-linked articles and merged comments, I'd still be annoyed, as would everyone else. That's a huge issue, and the bigger one in my opinion.

The Now Playing, the merged comments and stories, the lack of personality in the posts, this is going downhill fast and Joystiq is only pretending to care.

The Freezing is a well known issue and Lionhead is trying to blame everyone else for it saying "its impossible to reproduce".

Which nobody believes.

They have said it affects about 15% of people with the game at various points. Whats the current sales figures on Fable 2 like 2 million? That means there about 300'000 people experiencing this bug and they can't find a single person to reproduce it for them.

The current (anecdotal) rumor is Fable has issues playing on particular Xbox 360's specificly US and Australian versions especially but not limited to HDMI enabled ones.

The guys in Lionshead are in the UK and using UK consoles so can't reproduce it.

Take that with a grain of salt though

Theres dozens if not hundreds of threads on this on lionhead forums here are some of the current ones, expect to see rage, frustration and harsh language:
