I am okay with this -- living up to the Baldur's Gate legacy means making the best RPG in 7 years. Let them take their time!

Darnit, why do these companies continue refusing to ship their games before they are done? God! Such an inconvenience!

The inconvenience is on the wrong earlier date supplied and then not being able to meet their own commitments. Of course, as a gamer we want a finished product.

At least do a quick google search before you make yourself look like a twat. Dragon age is going to 360/PS3.

Just like Mass Effect was supposed to be console exclusive.. Dragon Age is the game that was supposed to make up for Bioware focusing so much on the consoles, but since they ported all of the games to the PC anyway, it's only fair to do the same with Dragon Age.

But the console versions are supposed to be coming later, I doubt it was delayed because of them.

According to Big Download, the reason for the delay is so that they can time the release with the console versions instead of making it a timed PC exclusive. Another great example of consoles screwing PC gamers when it comes to PC originated franchises. Now it appears we can expect yet another Bioware game with all the console-itis intact. So I take back a lot of the good things I had been saying about Bioware for trying to show PC fans some love.

To Mike, those are the most lame-ass excuses I've ever heard in these forums.

The game was never intended to be "PC Only", they only said it would go back to its PC roots in that it would resemble Baulder's Gate style of play. And it can't be a "PC originated" franchise when it hasn't even been released yet. Was Too Human a Playstation game that got all "Sony'd" up for Microsoft? No, it was never released on that system.

Your pathetic console bashing is also just a result of Mass Effect I'm sure, which was a CONSOLE release before it was a PC release... see the difference? No, I'm sure you don't.

Your excuses are weak and baseless. Just be a patient little boy. These are tough times and they want to release them together so they can make bank. It isn't that complicated. I wouldn't want to miss out on making a ton of revenue just to appease some whiny PC gamers either. Way to go Bioware!

If you're going to try and look like you know what you're talking about, try and know what you're talking about first.

The game was absolutely PC EXCLUSIVE until late last year (has been in development since 2004). Even then Bioware constantly "confirmed" that work on the console versions would not begin until they launched the PC game, so as they could put all their focus on the PC version and get it out for the people who have been waiting for it since its original announcement.

If you're hoping to play a game "Baldur's Gate" style, then you wouldn't be hoping to play it with a controller. It wouldn't work, the ported versions for DA will either be very different control wise or broken.

It was originally announced as a timed PC exclusive...so it is a franchise that, despite it not being released yet, originated for the PC. Just like Halo. Which is my #1 example of consoles stealing franchises that were originally intended for PCs.

Think of it this way...when a game is released for exclusively for PC (timed or otherwise) it is optimized to run on a PC and the gameplay reflects that (i.e. Valve games). When a game is ported over to the PC after a console release it is oftentimes released hastily and haphazardly (i.e. Mass Effect and GTA IV) and the performance of the game suffers big time as well as the experience playing it. That is why i was expressing disappointment about Dragon Age being timed with the console releases, because instead of receiving a nicely optimized PC game, we will essentially be receiving a port. Anyone could see why i would be just a tiny bit bitter, little boy.

It's a shame, but I'd rather have a game delayed so they can make it amazing rather than getting a pretty good game right now.

But, my friend, here's why PC gamers get pronged on a regular basis.

You guys? Ain't a gigantic market share when compared to the installed base of console gamers in the eyes of the software publishers. This is going by the fact that every game you wait for on the PC ends up being more refined, polished, and graphically superior (most times) but is delayed because most publishers focus on the plug and play consoles.

It sucks for the PC gaming public. I remember an age, back in the long long ago, before CD-ROM and retarded graphical and RAM requirements. Before owning a PC would be the giant money hole/dick waving contest it became.

I have PC-envy, but I do alright with my XBOX. :) I'm one of the lucky median who haven't had a bricked 360, so I've been able to just put a game in and play, rather than fight the machine to win the possibility of game time.

One day, I may have the kind of disposable income to once again join the massive hog-waggle, but I stay with the mass of unwashed who still play FPSs with a controller, though remember a time when I slayed motherfuckas on CS-Desert as 'canoe'.

This is not surprising news. Bioware delays games if they're not ready, and EA are money driven whores. Mix the two, and you've got a Valve-type situation...without the genre-busting gamplay at the end of the rainbow.

You make some fine points and I didn't think about what hand EA must be playing in all of this.

But people who whine and moan about what a "money hole" PC gaming is are another reason the hardcore PC market keeps shrinking, and you obviously haven't looked at the facts. PC hardware required to play recent games is cheaper than ever, and getting cheaper, especially considering the legions of people who already own 2 or 3 year old PCs that would only require a simple ram/video card upgrade. We're talking about $200 dollars in this case. And the games themselves are cheaper too - by at least $10 in most cases...which adds up quickly. And don't even get me started on accessories. Talk about a money hole. Basically, if you really do have PC-envy and you just think gaming on a PC is just too expensive, you should take another look at the situation.

The game was delayed because they wanted a simultaneous launch date with the console versions.

So...screw the PC users.

Sadly, Microsoft et all will do little to nothing to improve this situation by marketing and pushing the PC as a viable gaming platform. But then how could they? They would be afraid of cannibalising their Xbox360 division.

I just recently found out this won't have any multiplayer. I was pretty heartbroken. I was hoping this was gonna be the next Neverwinter Nights, multiplayer, Toolset, and all. Instead... no :(

Great idea... delay the game for "marketing reasons" so you can advertise the game at the same time as the console one, but instead of releasing it while no games are coming out, release it between October and December, the middle of the holiday season where it will be buried under all kinds of AAA titles.
