Street Fighter and Resident Evil invade PlayStation Home
Capcom plans on supporting PlayStation Home in a big way. Famitsu has revealed brand new Home content based on Capcom's upcoming games, Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 5. SFIV will receive a post-release patch that will allow players to meet in Home and then jump directly into a Street Fighter match.
In addition to game launching, Capcom will sell costumes to wear in the Home world. This isn't the first time Capcom has released Street Fighter costume DLC on a PlayStation system -- LittleBigPlanet also features a handful of premium costumes for purchase.
Capcom is also developing a Resident Evil 5 game space, which looks remarkably like the game's opening level. Here, players will be able to congregate and participate in various RE-themed events. We're not sure if those events will involve eating other Home users alive, but we hope so.
[Thanks, Copland!]

No PS3.

Sweet, good to see some support
Gambit07 @ Feb 3rd 2009 12:43AM
I only turn Home on for a few minutes when somethin' new drops.
richard @ Feb 3rd 2009 9:29AM
I'm the same way... After all why waste valuable times in front of the ps3 not playing a game or watching a bluray???
MRBlue @ Feb 3rd 2009 12:43AM
With little to no fanfare over Home since its (so-called) release in late December it's good to see something new. I haven't bothered logging in since the new Red Bull area and didn't really plan on getting back in until the new EA space launched but the RE5 space looks like fun.
Still wondering where the Killzone 2 area is. Maybe they'll reveal more later this month. You would think they'd want to milk the game's release for everything they had and would already have a KZ2 space in play right now.

My fantasies of dressing up as Chun Li and sitting down on the floor in front of a guy sitting on a raised platform and nodding are closer to being realized
Uh...what?
Obie @ Feb 3rd 2009 8:19AM
And then turning into E. Honda when they have me surrounded.
IT'S A TRAP!
xGeneral DEATHx @ Feb 3rd 2009 12:46PM
"It's a Quincy!" just doesn't have quite the same ring to it...
Negativecool @ Feb 3rd 2009 12:47AM
It's unfortunate you can't run around GTA style in Home. It would have been interesting to pick fights with other themed SFIV characters, only to be warped into the game to actually fight.
It would have been fun to be in the RE5 themed space and shoot at zombie bots with someone...then maybe warped into the game for some co-op.
Instead it seems to be more to the effect of:
Sony: Look at this!
Consumer: Cool...now what.
Sony: Well...keep looking at the coolness! It's awesome!
Consumer...I don't get it.
Sony: Why not? LOOOOOK at i..
Consumer: I'm out.

Aside from jumping into a SFII game like that, I still think in general it would kick ass if people could settle their fights with each other in Home. Then the camera would pan in for each player and a voice would go "FIGHT-O!" *cue Mortal-Kombat-type music*
Eh @ Feb 3rd 2009 3:13PM
*insert joke about Home having better controls than RE5 here*
Crimson_Ryan @ Feb 3rd 2009 12:48AM
Any word on if these will require a 5GB install too?
Tez @ Feb 3rd 2009 1:17AM
Yes, it will; unless you continue to bitch on the internet some more.
CrabBattle @ Feb 3rd 2009 12:56AM
Ken looks awful...
kentuckyfried @ Feb 3rd 2009 3:13AM
Ken and Ryu both look awful...thin and weak.
Obie @ Feb 3rd 2009 9:33AM
Well they are standing around like chumps, why no combat stances?
Now I know what Street Fighter characters look like when waiting for the bus. ;)
supakoopa @ Feb 3rd 2009 1:01AM
Like the zombies in RE5, Home is dead to me.
I know that was horrible... But it needed to be said.
Noshino @ Feb 3rd 2009 1:11AM
No, it really didn't
The Espiritu (Viva La Joystiq!) @ Feb 3rd 2009 2:00AM

(The comment you replied to was a joke, sorry to of offended you somehow)
bm @ Feb 3rd 2009 5:05AM
"sorry to of offended you" ? You're getting a downvote just for that.

There's something really sad about some of the most iconic outfits in videogames being worn by those emotionless mannequins. That picture is messing with my head.
Noshino @ Feb 3rd 2009 1:23AM
you mean like most american cosplayers?

With the SFIV game launch. People will be going around picking fights :D . This may be really fun in home.
EGOvoruhk @ Feb 3rd 2009 1:47AM

Nanakita_Hashiriya @ Feb 3rd 2009 2:26AM
Let's hope the console version of SFIV will allow people to port their arcade character (Via the SFIV IC Card) to the console version so they don't have to build up points all over again.
ChiTownRuler23 @ Feb 3rd 2009 3:36AM
ive been on home once and that was when i got my PS3 and this wont make me go back to it
Joel @ Feb 3rd 2009 4:20AM
first killzone 2 costume and now this. i love you capcom. i will be playing super street fighter 2 turbo HD remix till SSF4.
skin.bintin @ Feb 4th 2009 12:11AM
Capcom don't care if you keep playing it. Once you've paid your money for it, they forget you exist, until it's time to take your money again.
Azuman @ Feb 3rd 2009 3:53AM
There is a slight Issue with Frame rate Playing the Demo on PS3 but it is promised to be fixed in the Final Version
