We have a feeling that maybe, just maybe, EA has a total secret crush on PlayStation Network. Last week, it gave PS3 owners access to a free exclusive Mirror's Edge level. This week, it's giving PSN users one week early access to the first EA Sports-branded downloadable game, 3 on 3 NHL Arcade.
Matt Maher, lead designer of the game, explained the inspiration for NHL Arcade on the PlayStation.Blog. "There are no options out there for consumers to play an Arcade style hockey game ... and the NHL dev team felt that we could fill this void with a top quality product and give the users a game to enjoy."
NHL Arcade will feature online play and support for Trophies. The game will be available tomorrow for $9.99.

I'll make sure it runs smoothly before buying. I'd hate to buy a game that people don't play becasue it's broken at first. This looks really cool though.

They want to get a few extra sales from people who jump in, not really knowing what the game will be like due to the fact there will most likely be no demo.
I mean, if it was on xbox live at the same time and it was rubbish, word would spread and PS3 owners would be more hesistant to buy it.

Sweet...day one purchase. Hockey and Burnout is all I play. Hopefully this is a return to the glory days of NHL Hitz! "Knock knock? Who's there? A big painful bodycheck!"

They want to fill the void
They want to fill the empty spaces
But I won't let them consume me
With the rest of the lifeless faces

I would love a good hockey game, which can allow quick play. This may or may not fit that bill, but the price is appealing...

Do my eyes deceive me? The greatest electronic hockey player set to make a return to the digital ice? I saw Roenick in one of the clips there. Day 1 buy. Loved playing with him in NHLPA 93.

I hope you're ready for a bit of a downer though.. NO FIGHTING! .. yea, WTF.
Oh, and theres no real modes other than, "arcade"... it looks nice, and might be fun for about 5 games.. then what? This could have been a MUST have for hockey fans, instead It'll be another shallow way to charge 10 bucks.

I don't think you get it... Arcade hockey. No fighting, no line change, no penalties either. Big hits, ludicrous goals, unrealistic power ups, short games. That doesn't make the game boring or repetitive by any means.
Check the link up above for a similar styled game.
Since Europe got a demo, looks like we might get one as well (?)

Well Andrew ---- Contrary to the mass misinformation spread about the PSN by "you know who"...
The PSN does not suck. EA recogonizes this.
