Battlefield Heroes now aiming for Q1 '09 release

After announcing a delay last Summer (and missing the planned '08 release), then closing and subsequently re-opening the beta, EA has informed us that its ready to bring the online-exclusive Battlefield Heroes to the gaming masses ... relatively soon.

According to a supplement (PDF) included in EA's latest investor report, Battlefield Heroes should be released by quarter's end. That means if EA and DICE can keep development on track, we'll be blasting cartoonified soldiers in Heroes by March, at the latest.

I was excited for this game at first, but after playing the beta I really don't care about it any more.

Could you share your thoughts with the community regarding strengths/weaknesses of the game?

Word for word, that is my sentiment.

Any game that trivializes teenagers blowing each other's limbs off is cool in my book.

I'm not too excited for Heroes. I'll try it out, of course, since it's free, but it looks meh.

yea i hear ya. i remember thinking it was this groundbreaking idea but now i just dont care that much about it. i mean ill sure try it when it comes out (where's the risk in 'free'?) but we'll just say im not getting my hopes too high for it being the end aaaaall be all.

It looks entertaining, and for free.. it looks like its a pretty good quality game.

Not sure how LONG i'll play it but it seems worthwhile to go for some enjoyment.

I'm excited about this one and Quake Live.

Nobody cares! Battlefield 3 or nothing. Not some lame crappy cartoony version of battlefield 1942. EA has clearly lost touch with what Battlefield fans are like.

You are probably one of those guys that started to scream "WTF" in the mic when anyone placed explosives below a vehicle.

Chill,they are working on it,its confirmed and FFS never use a mic nobody wants to hear about your angst.

Okay maybe Myg0t and some guys like them wants to hear about your angst and rage (To make fun of it) but no one else.

Not really I love lobbing mines around. C4 tossing was lame but they practically got rid of that.

Theres no Battlefield 3 confirmed.....

Bad Company 2 is confirmed, FOR CONSOLES.

No sign of Battlefield 3.

It's just ridiculous that they force you to play in third person. Allow us third person, and first with a configurable FOV and I'm happy.
