Well you can only work on the same franchise for so long before you want to try something new. I'm curious to see what Bungie will bring us after ODST.

They're going to make a bungee jumping simulator, it's for the XBLA, and the PSN.

So that means they will end the support for Halo 3 and move on?

I for one hope the Halo universe never ends - I equally hope George Lucas never gets his hands on it either.

"We're sure their bloated bank accounts are equally grateful." - Sounds a little jaded

I believe, in a capitalistic society (America), that great products reap the rewards and benefits. It could be worse - imagine if Carnival for Wii, which made some good money, starting going into sequels upon sequels.

Don't worry, it won't, because it's no where near the caliber as the product made by Bungie software. The people at Bungie make great software and they should equally reap the rewards of it (a.k.a. bloated bank accounts).

Want a bloated bank account, do something that makes people want to give you money instead, otherwise...

Um, actually, Carnival Games for the Wii is getting a sequel, and it was actually delayed because the first one was selling so well. I'm not saying it was a good game, I never played it myself. But it was a game targeted at the younger, Wii audience and it worked well.

As for the actual news here regarding Bungie ending it's support (in terms of adding content) to Halo 3, this is fine by me. I don't think there is another company around that has supported a single title as much as Bungie has to Halo 3. I also see this as Bungie putting more people on future Bungie products (I say more, because you have to believe they've already begun their next project).

As for what the future holds, more Halo is never a bad thing, so a Halo 4 would be fantastic. But Bungie has talent, and I'd love to see them work on a new, original IP.

Well put D. I was thinking the same thing about the bloated bank account comment as well. They earned it!! They made a product, people bought it, it was successful, they made money. What in the hell is wrong with that? Man people are really getting too (to use your words) jaded about who deserves to make money and who doesn't. When people do a good job, they should be rewarded. That is the way of a capitalist economy. It's worked pretty damn well untill recently. Yes there are some bad people out there making life hell for the rest of us and yes there have been some pretty bad decisions in politics (both Democrat and Republican) that have put us here such as regulating the hell out of a business to the point that to stay up on the regulations they are unable to turn a profit. Or to stay up on the regulations they (the banks) are forced to make loans to people that have no ability to pay back said loan. I've gotten way off course on this..... oops. Either way, it did sound a little like whoever wrote this article was pissed that they didn't have the same "bloated" bank account.

what did you not like about his comment you fucking lowlife? if you actually cared about economics you would have a REAL criticism to make about what he said, but since you tried (pretty poorly) to cover your own tracks and make yourself look intelligent, you are just as bad as the fuckups who troll around forums waiting for someone else to back him up. go fuck yourself brian

This is a budget title right? Isn't it supposed to be only 4-5 hours long?

Here is hoping that Bungie switches gears and revives their Marathon franchise. A current-gen Marathon game would be amazing. All hail Marathon!

Marathon was Bungies attempt to make a Doom style game back in the mid 90's. It was for the Mac. There is actually a Marathon game you can download on XBL called, "Marathon: Durandal".

Now this I agree with. It'd be nice if we could get to see some actual ODST gameplay footage... what I've seen of Halo Wars is damn good so far and is far more likely to get my monies when I get a 360.

Did they set a release date yet? I'm tired of having achievements I can't get. :(
Also the "Look both ways" achievement is ridiculously hard to get.

"Halo Wars" is totally untrodden ground for me and as I'm excited to play it, I'm also unsure as to what to expect. The closest I think I've come to RTS so far was Advance Wars on the Nintendo DS. I'm...I'm not a PC gamer.

"Halo 3: ODST" SOUNDS like a merging of Halo 3 with Call of Duty, and for that reason I can be a little more comfortable saying that I'm anticipating the game.

Give the Command and Conquer demo on XBLM a go. Not played it myself but that's an RTS title you could try to get an idea of the genre's gameplay.

Or fire up your favourite Sega emulator and give Dune a go...

I don't believe them. I'm pretty sure they said something like "no more halo oriented games after Halo 3" then Halo Wars was announced and they were like, "that's it! that's the last one!", then ODST was announced....

You're right with the comment about Halo 3 being the last game in the series created by Bungie. With ODST, they are kind of breaking what they said. Remember though, Halo Wars is not made by Bungie. It is being developed by Ensemble Studios (the studio that developed Age of Empires III on the PC.) and Published by Microsoft. Microsoft now owns the IP ("Intellectual Property", sorry if you already knew that.) of Halo. They own the Halo franchise. They can distribute and rehash the game with basically any studio they please. Just because it's Halo, it doesn't mean it's REALLY Halo that we're all used to!!

They said Halo 3 was the "final game in this story arc." That doesn't mean that Bungie or others are no longer making Halo games, it just meant they ended the storyline with masterchief. ODST takes place at an earlier time and we clearly are not playing as the chief.

Yea, Bungie never said they'd be ending the Halo Franchise. They just said that they were ending the Chief's tale (Which ODST/Halo Wars certainly does not break). I expect more Halo in the future from Bungie.

I for one love the SH#@ out of the Halo universe. I haven't really played it for about 2 months though. I switched over to COD4. Yeah, late to the party... I find the multiplayer in COD4 to be more balanced. There are a few reasons why and I hope bungie is listening. 1) Matchmaking has teamkilling OFF. I never understood why you are able to kill your own teammate in the first place. 2) No rushing for weapons. Customizing your class is the best thing ever. No longer can teammates get mad that you took a weapon they were going to grab. 3) balanced perks and weapons. I came in to COD4 over a year late and am kicking some high ranked ass. I wish I could say the same for Halo. Halo's matchmaking has been broken for awhile. You should never be able to kill a teammate. It's stupid and serves no purpose. If they would fix those 2 things... I would play both. PLEASE ELIMINATE TEAM KILLING. What a stupid concept. I think there is enough room for both franchises. I'm looking forward to HALO 4. I'm really missing Halo 3 and hope they keep the servers up for a LONG time. New maps, forge, Bungie.net, theater. It's an amazing game. It could be even more fun if a few things were fixed. Sorry for my rant. I love both. :)
