wow, this is a relativly big update! however, for those who do use home, what do you find so appealing about it or what makes you want to get on? just wondering, i just haven't found it very appealing

Not a lot, though I do like being able to bowl or play pool with anybody with a PSN account. Over the year as they add more game spaces there will be more and more reasons to use it.

I love being able to interact with gamers from all over the world (Japan, China, Korea, England, to name a few...). I look at it as a 3D version of MSN or yahoo. I also like being able to use avatar gestures instead of smileys.

The scenes and backgrounds are really nice and it makes it a much more pleasurable experience than just having a regular chatroom.

SWEET! Look at all the stuff they fixed/changed with the Game Launching.

They must be really working hard to make sure that our 2 OR 3 FREAKING SUPPORTED GAMES LAUNCH RIGHT!

Come on Sony... Get on the ball and help companies program patches for Game Launching. Why should I want to go onto Playstation Home on my VIDEO GAME SYSTEM if I have to EXIT the program to play any games? How am I supposed to NETWORK WITH PEOPLE if the people I"m networking with can't easily get into a match with me.

At least fix it to the use ability we had back in the day (beta) so that we can ACTUALLY launch our games, even if we have to go out of our way to get someone to join us. I want to launch into Home, meet up in the clubhouse, start up some matches in Resistance 2, Killzone 2, Rock Band 2, Mercs 2, etc... and then after the match is over we meet back up in the clubhouse. I didn't mind 95 percent of Sony's screw ups and defended them on numerous occasions, but Game Launching? Seriously. We're not asking for a 360 party system (well I'm not) but this much Sony... you owe us... Use some of the millions you get from clothes and adverts in Home at least for this please.

We have to look at home, and use it for what it is: a social network. I like home because after a long day of work it's nice to come home and going around chatting and playing games with other guys i know who have shared the same dreadful day. as Dark Emerald said it's like a 3D version of MSN or Yahoo. Just someplace to undwind and play some mini games. The only thing I remember being promised early on within Home was the ability to have your own pictures in your house, Let along being able to stream your own video and music within your house to watch or listen to with other friends. I know there are plenty of days where I would love to sit down within Home and watch a movie that is stored on my HDD with a few of my friends. But to answer your original question I use Home primarily for chatting.

Oh, and to make one thing clear to Patrick. If you're not going to ever use game launching within Home then don't complain about it. In fact you should't complain about Home in the first place. And what exactly does Sony "Owe" us anyway. In fact I think they have giving us quite a bit from the start. Being a launch date PS3 owner I've had the oppertunity to watch the PS3 evolve to what it is today; an amazing feature rich console. And in my opinion Sony has givin us a lot. To name a few: Life with playstation, the new photo gallery, Home. These are all free apps that Sony has dished out for it's owners. I don't know about you but as an owner of all the next gen and previous gen consoles I can easily say that the PS3 is shaping up to be something great.

Sorry about the rant everyone.

"We have added a new "Remove Player" function that allows the creator to remove people from a Game Launching session."

Um... how about you actually give us the 'Game Launching' functionality to begin with?

Well, the functionality is there, it's just that like 2 games support it. There also needs to be a way to attach a list of what games you have to your avatar.

what confuses me even more is the fact that Game Launching was available in the closed beta for all games... why take it out for this open beta?

where is:

~game launching
~trophy rooms
~playing media of any kind.
~boot to home (i thought the main point of home was to use it aside from XMB... just turn on the PS3 and bam.. your in Home... doing everything your XMB does and then some without actually having to leave home... to do ANYTHING. (games, pictures, movies, music,)

I would like the limit of furniture allowed in a personal space to be increased. My space looks bare still! I used up all my slots on just decor of plants and origami cats and such. I understand they don't want people to go nuts and put 500000 couches in a room, but the current limit is faaaaaaaaar too low to decorate a huge space and not make it look like you are a college kid who just moved into your first apt and living off ramen.

By "my space", I meant my Summer House. The Harbour Studio is puny compared to Summer House.

it's always been working, but it's like custom soundtracks, it's up to the developers to implement it or not, as of now i think the only one working is warhawk, but i know SFIV will support it, and i'm pretty sure killzone 2 will

Here's some mores stuff that's been confirmed (but no official release dates):
(I copied and paste from Cynthia and Locust)

A proverbial boatload of game spaces - including spaces for Warhawk, SOCOM, Resistance, and many, many more (we’ll announce more spaces in the coming weeks)...

Of course, you’re all aware of the EA Sports Complex. But let’s just say that is coming sooner rather than later. And it’s cooler than you imagined.

These spaces will usher in the next phase of Home. They will begin to utilize this uber-powerful platform’s true capabilities. We’re talking unlocking items in the games you play from Home (and vice versa), mini-games that take full advantage of the Sixaxis controller, game launching integration. The whole shebang!

We also have leaderboards. Huzzah!

You can also count on tons of apartments and clubhouses that boast increasingly interactive environments. These spaces are freakin’ awesome. You’re going to love ‘em.

Picture frames are coming back. We’re not giving a solid date at this time, but suffice to say you will have them very, very soon.

You’ll have more music, more regularly. And, yes, there will be all different styles (this means that all of you rockers can rejoice!)

You’ll have a bigger Theater, and it will be full of videos (and not just trailers either).

You’ll be able to customize your avatar with more gear – and this stuff is hot. Oh, and there are tons of options for the girls as well. We’re not forgetting about you.

And, to top it all off, we’re gonna be throwing tons of parties, contests, and other events in Home (including a special event to coincide with Valentine’s Day. It’s going to be a killer event). The prizes will be bigger and better than ever before. If you haven’t participated in anything we’ve done before, we’re sure you will now.

See, we weren’t lying when we said we were going to make good on our word to you all.

We appreciate your patience while we make the final tweaks to ensure that all of this is smooth as can be. And we appreciate you diehards keeping the faith while the naysayers pretended like the Beta launch was the be-all, end-all of Home. No way, no how.

Could I ask a small favour of my fellow PS3 bredrin?

I'm away from the PS3 and unable to do this myself. Club houses are currently freezing due to a weird glitch that involves the bulletin board. Could someone suffering the same problem as myself see if it has been rectified?

Much love! :)

I have a feeling in the future they will boot have you login straight to home, making the XMB a menu inside home.... that'd be kinda cool, and hopefully it does happen. Because really, if I have to choose between loading home and the game I want to play, I'd probably load the game :P
