Why isn't this tagged correctly?
OLDMIKE @ Feb 4th 2009 9:21PM
is there ANY game play at all in that ???
and ya why is it taged as only Xbox?+
Dr Jeckyl and Mr ESC. @ Feb 4th 2009 9:25PM
BECAUSE,BECAUSE THE ECKSBAUCKS VERSION WILL KICK THE PSTHREE VERSION IN THE FACE CUZ IT HAS THE RRODDDSS POWER THAT THE CELL DOESN'T BECAUSE THE CELL CAN'T DO CELL PROCCESING THAT POWERS THE ECKSBAUCKS BECAUSE GENESIS DOES WANT NINTENDON'T...BIATCH.
Even at the end of the trailer it says PS3 X360 sadly Pc users can't play this one (yet?),also is just a tag man I'm sure Randy will fix it,chill.
Chinpo (BRING BACK RUROUNI KENSHIN !!!) @ Feb 4th 2009 9:28PM
Fighting games haven't been on the PC in years, Street Fighter 4 is a very surprising exception though.
Dr Jeckyl and Mr ESC. @ Feb 4th 2009 9:37PM
I meant Blast proccesing in the fake rant.
Anyway yeah I think the last Pc fighting game I played was Mortal Kombat 4,sweet game.
Dr Jeckyl and Mr ESC. @ Feb 4th 2009 9:39PM
Weird usually people love fake rants.
Some fanboys really take stuff way to seriously or Randy won't fix it at all.
Haggard @ Feb 5th 2009 3:23PM
Even as an obsessive PC gamer I'll still be getting SF4 on PS3. I mean, it's not really a game where a bit of extra resolution and AA will help - and plus, inviting people up to crowd around the monitor for a fighting game is an unattractive prospect.
Dr Jeckyl and Mr ESC. @ Feb 4th 2009 9:21PM
King FTW!
This one goes straight to my Ps3 library.
(Nop there is nothing else to say here)
Premature ejaculation man @ Feb 4th 2009 9:21PM
Why are there an RPGs and a sniper rifles in a fighting game?
Dylan @ Feb 4th 2009 9:26PM
They are for fatalities
Dr Jeckyl and Mr ESC. @ Feb 4th 2009 9:34PM
One of the fighters is an assassin that uses sniper rifles or RPGS in the CGI scenes.
Matt @ Feb 4th 2009 9:27PM
Why in gods name has this taken so long to make? Soul Caliber and Virtua Fighter came out ages ago, and honestly they look comparable if not better.
WiredKnight @ Feb 4th 2009 9:43PM
Wait until you actually play them.
WiredKnight @ Feb 4th 2009 9:44PM
Also, I believe Tekken tends to have more characters. So they all take longer to make, and more importantly, they take longer to balance against each other.
perfectchaos @ Feb 4th 2009 10:08PM
it was stated in an interview a while back that tekken is taking so long to come to consoles because 1) they released it in arcades a while back and were testing it 2) they came out with bloodline rebellion in response to the first games testing, which brought about new characters and better graphics and 3) they're adding exclusive things to the home versions. so really they're just trying to make the definitive edition of tekken 6 for consoles.
i've been playing this game for a minute in the arcade and it's definitely better than 5.
Maverick Saturn @ Feb 4th 2009 10:26PM
Plus the added fact Tekken needs to come out on arcades for some reason or another before hitting consoles
boltu222 @ Feb 5th 2009 10:44AM
O_o I'm pretty sure the money they make from the arcades is used towards making the game better and the console version... and I also think the Arcade version makes namco more money then the console version does anyway...
Jawmuncher @ Feb 4th 2009 9:30PM
Graphics look fine to me joystiq
Ranus Studios @ Feb 4th 2009 9:33PM
I hope it was just me, but I thought I saw a hint of jiggle physics on Nina, there.
SoulBlade @ Feb 4th 2009 10:33PM
Namco and jiggle physics?! Impossible...
Maverick Saturn @ Feb 4th 2009 9:37PM
Tekken still exists? After it showing no sign of ever releasing, I assumed it was destined to remain in the arcades alone.
Saying that, I've lost interest in Tekken 6 tbh :( It really let me down.
Maverick Saturn @ Feb 4th 2009 9:40PM
DOA is the worst of the lot :S
Danny F. @ Feb 4th 2009 9:41PM
Yeah these trailers are not doing it for me... just not hyped enough to see myself buying this. SF IV yes... hands down.. but Tekken...eeeh I lost my interest in the series since Tekken 3 being the last favorite back in the PSone days.
WiredKnight @ Feb 4th 2009 9:42PM
I'm guessing the next iteration of DoA is going to come to the console belonging to the highest bidder, as usual.
Hyams @ Feb 4th 2009 9:44PM
Meh, I'm happy with Tekken 5: DR.
Also, I don't much like the sound of the new gameplay elements - making juggling even more prominent? Freakin' *why*?
Dr Jeckyl and Mr ESC. @ Feb 4th 2009 9:48PM
It's been a while since I play DR in my PSP what was juggling again? I only played as Jin Kazama which is an starter character.I learned to play King and the guy with the crazy legs but not as well as Jin Kazama.
The Dojo feature was awesome.
Maverick Saturn @ Feb 4th 2009 9:56PM
Agreed Hymns
PSN: slycooper_rocker (The Agent of Orange) @ Feb 5th 2009 12:15AM
yeah that just about sums it up for me.
PSN: Aggie_CEO @ Feb 5th 2009 7:07AM
yea I'm good with Tekken 5:DR
hell it doesnt appear to be much improvement over that anyways.......
Hyams @ Feb 5th 2009 7:26AM
Juggling is when you keep them up in the air, so that they can't block or attack back. Tekken 6 is designed to make this easier.
Maverick Saturn @ Feb 5th 2009 10:06AM
Juggling is stupid ¬_¬ Imagine watching a Jackie Chan movie when he kept his opponent in the air with a couple of punches and kicks or a UFC match with the opponent not being able to fall down to get back up.
Maverick Saturn @ Feb 4th 2009 9:55PM
Why vote you down, for the first time you are expressing a valid opinion rather then mindlessly just bashing games or PS3 like you usually do :) Vote up more like
I dunno, I just could never take DOA seriously, my favourite was VF, but I used to know Tekken back and front, enter tournaments an grew up with it pretty much, I'm just overall dissopointed with Tekken 6. I expected that with the upgrades in tech there would be a contrast, but no, its the same old Tekken, I don't expect it to change so much so that I won't recognize it, I want it to be the same Tekken I love, but at the same time, I want some newities, keeping people in the air is lame, invisible walls is lame, no create your own character mode is lame, no realistic attacks is lame, you can tell how annoyed I am. I don't want a glossier version of Tekken 5, otherwise I'll just stick with Tekken 5, its cheaper :S
Mazrael @ Feb 6th 2009 7:54PM
"smarter AI"? where..? best AI I've ever found was on FEAR, next best is Bioshock (except the final boss..).. everything else is "see player, kill player" usually ruining any immersion. like COD, team of 6 & your the only one getting shot, or Gears of War 2.. where 5 teams of 2, the AI teams barely shoot at each other, but will co-op against the player team.. something they need to get rid of is AI's infinite ammo..
anyhow.. I've already got the only fighter that I feel matters, VF5.. got SC4 too, but it's hardly balanced..
acme @ Feb 4th 2009 10:10PM
3d fighters have gotten rather stale since tekken4, sc3, virtua fighter 4, doa3 etc. They haven't been doing anything special. polish the gfx add a character call it a day, its getting boring. I don't even consider online play a new feature, its a given it shoulda came about a LONG time go. this trailer = zzzz. wake me when something amazing comes out.
Maverick Saturn @ Feb 4th 2009 10:22PM
Makes me wonder what it is that requires so much time and console power when a console can spit out games like Final Fantasy and Killzone and Halo 3. What the heck does Tekken 6 have in it? Character models and a limited space around to fight in?
Alphathon @ Feb 5th 2009 5:56AM
It may only be character models and the arena, but as that is all that's being redendered they can afford to make the models much higher quality than an FPS (I'm not saying they have, as I don't even know if I've seen any ingame footage or if it's all prerendered) but regardless they have to extra sure that there are no lag or framefate issues. With FPSs lag or low framerate occasionally can cause you to loose a kill or be killed yourself, but in a fighter it can cause you to loose the entire match because you can't react to what's going on. As a result they need to have absolutelly rock solid net code and a pretty solid rendering engine.
Also, tbh, what more could they add other than a few extra charaters and better graphics? Character creation? Done. Changing moves around? That infuriates fans of previous iterations. Charater costumes? Done. Honestly what else is there? And why are you specifically mentioning 3D fighters? What hace 2D ones to mix it up?
I have to agree the trailer is pretty dull, but what do you expect, it's not like theres an awefull lot of gritty drama or anything to advertise. It's a fighting game! That said I have been a fan of Tekken since I first got Tekken 3 with my PS1...well other than Tekken 4...so it'll likelly be a day 1 purchase for me. 6 seems like it should bee good. Has the same feel about it that 5 had, although it still can't compete with 3 (that might be the nostalga talking). So what if it's just Tekken 5 with better graphics and more characters. I'm mainly looking forwad to the online play (I never got dark resurrection mainly because I already had 5, so it would have felt like a repurchase). I'm also just looking forward to playing Tekken again without having to fish out my PS2 (damn the lack of BC on current PS3s)
Maverick Saturn @ Feb 5th 2009 7:25AM
I get you, I just feel that although they said the levels were dynamic, I have yet to see that, there is still the invisible walls, I don't understand why, you should be able to throw characters over walls, short fences, heck, drop kick them through it if necessary to give it that fighting movie stlye. Weight never seems to apply, so the size of your opponent seems to make no difference, I would have thought that smaller opponents be lighter, faster, agile and deadly while large opponents take on the stronger, harder approach, Murdock vs Xiouyu for example, there should be balance applied, Murdock being the heavier opponent more difficult to bring to his knees but at the same time slower, more heavyweight, Xiouyu far faster, agile, flexible and able to reverse attacks easier while Murdock counters easier, someone like Raven or Heihachi is in between, so thier moves can be centered, bit of Xiouyu's agility, bit of Murdock's strength.
Okay, maybe the likes of Tekken shouldn't change thier style, but maybe someone could introduce a fighting game that uses elements of both WWE and normal beat em ups so that we have a proper Tekken esque bar brawler, different combat styles with weight, dynamics and fatigue as the main priniciples. The idea of keeping your opponent in the air with combos annoys me, its hardly fair and it should be easier to reverse, you really should be able to counter or reverse anything with the right timing and skill, and maybe a playing field with more going on, take Ong Bak if you've seen it for example, the crowds moved aside as you fought, but in this new IP, you can use the crowds as you would the ref in WWE, but obviously it damages your street cred (something to match that of an NFS game) online, so you have this dirty fighter, clean fighter reputation, I guess it all just adds that bit more zest to combat rather then 'punch up, punch low, kick low, uppercut, kick low' thing that we've had for years and hasn't changed. Nobody fights like that in the real world, lol, except maybe boxers.
acme @ Feb 5th 2009 9:01AM
I'm calling for innovation in a stagnant genre. Every other genre gets a kick in the pants once in a while with something exciting. When is it the 3d fighting games turn? i like mavericks suggestions, its a good start.
Maverick Saturn @ Feb 5th 2009 10:01AM
Agreed, racing games add pursuits, realistic crashing and more realistic handling, FPS' get doll like effects added, smarter AI, more drama going on on screen, platformers are overall more colourful and fun with more added options, Sandboxes like GTA are more fun and more realistic.
Basically all old games have changed for the better in some way, the fighting genre seems to be stuck in the same loop, just adding better graphics, Tekken 4 did that, and it was boring as hell, Tekken 5 changed a bit, Tekken 6 is doing a Tekken 4 from the looks of things, does that mean we have to wait till Tekken 7 to see a new small difference, maybe cracked walls as well as cracked floors, yay, development ¬_¬
boltu222 @ Feb 5th 2009 11:00AM
Did you play Tekken 4 Maverick? I don't understand what you mean by "Tekken 4 did that" add new characters and better graphics? Tekken 4 did what you talk about it went and changed things up a bit, movement was fully made 8 way and terrain was also taken into consideration like higher ground lower ground crap... it was the worst in the Tekken series and so Namco wen't back to the roots and came out with Tekken 5.
You keep mentioning invisible walls but for the sake of me I can't figure out what invisible walls your talking about unless you mean the stages that have no walls what so ever and have the background move along with you to make it seem on going...
Its true Tekken 6 is following what Tekken 5 did and I'm pretty sure namcos reason for it would be "why fix something thats not broken?" and I agree Tekken 5 did good and its popular and so Tekken will stay the same until there a recline... also Tekken 6 does add new features, not anything amazing but new nonetheless, such as multileveled stages and the addition of item moves.
Vincent @ Feb 7th 2009 6:31AM
Obviously most of you saying Fighting games are stagnant are just fighting newbs :/ These games evolved a ton. And each new iteration brings in a new strategy to the table that forces you to adapt your gameplay style. Learn new tricks and what not. Try playing SF3 (not just mash buttons like a retard) and tell me how it's the same as SF2. Or VF5 and compare to VF4 for example.
FPS doesn't change, ever. A headshot is a headshot in all games. You can aim well in one, you can play any other. It's really the easy-mode... Yet everyone thinks it's the greatest genre out there *rolls eyes*
acme @ Feb 7th 2009 11:41AM
The only new tech in 3D fighting games has been counters. FPS's get massive stages, cover systems, customizable multiplayer options, stat tracking. Those are NEW features. changing a move list for a character isn't a feature....
Maverick Saturn @ Feb 4th 2009 10:17PM
I'm not a Sony fanboy, thats the thing, I have all three consoles and love them equally so I dunno where you got that from, in fact I don't understand the mind of a fanboy, I pity them because they miss out on all the fun I'm having on all three, not everyone can afford all three, but then having 1 is better then having none, either way gaming is gaming, I don't understand the purpose of bashing a console, its games or the players of that console and games because you don't like it or have it, I would rather converse with you if you are simply passionate about the console you have and games you play, I hate Sony fanboys as equally as Xbox and Wii fanboys, however, you caught my negative attention because like Killjebus, you weren't thinking before you bashed PS3, nor do the PS3 owners who bash 360 at the sites I use. I dunno why you hate PS3 so much, I always thought there was a line between personally preferring not to buy a console and actually hating it, really all it is is a machine that plays games, some the same as 360, others not the same, I get the best of all worlds.
I haven't twisted your words nor do I need to make anything up, if I see something I don't like in someone's behaviour, I'll say it. I don't insult you on a personal level or go into your personal life, I just point at your perception on games I happen to like, and if you don't give me a valid reason for disliking the game I like, I'll assume you are just doing out of spite, and I also don't like spiteful people.
Like I said, you can be a fanboy and still be respected by everybody :) Your last post where we actually bonded for a moment despite the fact we disagreed with each other proved that, without mindlessly bashing games we like / dislike.

In general, I like Tekken more than Street Fighter. I didn't until Tekken 5, mind you--King of Fighters was my favorite--but since then I have really enjoyed it and actually gotten good at the combos (gasp!) I couldn't care less about Soul Calibur these days, or ever since I would go into GameStops as a little kid and button mash as Talim and beat EVERY SINGLE PERSON. With tekken, at least someone who knows the combos can beat a button masher 50% of the tine,
Maverick Saturn @ Feb 4th 2009 10:20PM
On the topic of VF, I have to admit, it felt empty, especially when put next to Soul Calibur now, however, it still seems to beat what Tekken 6 has, although the Robot boss at the end of Tekken 6 looks kick ass.
Maverick Saturn @ Feb 4th 2009 10:24PM
I'd like to say having a reasonable conversation without arguing is bonding, even if its dissagreeing on something.
Well in contrast to what we usually do anyway
