Battlefield 1943 coming to XBLA, PC and PSN this summer [update]

Um...I swear I've played this game before. It looks like they just transferred the maps to a new engine. Haven't they done that before?

I think for consoles, 24 players is fine for a BF1942 upgrade. As it is, with 12 per side, 6 guys on each side will be camping the plane respawn. I'd hate to see more people standing around waiting for someone else to crash.

Wow, always wanted to play this game. Kinda odd it's coming as an arcade game. Isn't it rather recent?

1942 is my favorite game of all time , I own every single expansion , mod , sequel ever made for the Battlefield series , this has just made me wet my pants .
The only thing wrong with Bad Company is lack of planes (tbh jets would be too fast for the maps as wouldn't be any room to maneuver and i hated the jets raping everyone in BF2) , 1942 had the best dogfights of any game with really simple mechanics , I hope we still have the submarines and Aircraft Carriers etc ,
Ah the old days bailing out over the Jap Carrier as an engineer and dropping mines from the sky to land on the carriers runway in front of the planes taking off , damn I am so made up they are going back to ww2 setting with this , If anyone from EA/Dice is reading this count me in for any future expansion packs featuring remade levels of stalingrad , berlin , Battle of Britain , Kharkov , etc . I will throw my money away on every bit of DLC you can chuck at us . !
1942/3 with the frostbite engine will be unbelievable .
This is now my number one wanted game for this year and nothing not even Killzone2 will change that now.

If this can be lobbed on XBLA, why not get some Counter Strike on XBLA? Used to love it on the original XBOX.

wow! i loved battlefield 1942! ive played the other BF games but that was the best in the series. i hope they still have some of the same emergent tactics that existed in 1942, like surfing on the wing of a plane to repair it on the fly. i loved swimming onto the enemy aircraft carrier like solid snake, slitting throats of all the plane campers!!!

but only 24 players? is this for console only, or is pc also affected? i dont understand why the pc would only have 24 players.


also if you guys have never seen it, look at the original battlefield 1942 trailer. this was the trailer that blew my (and everyone elses) socks off!!!!

I have never played Battlefield but for an XBL/PSN game this looks AWESOME

24 seems small, but B3 will be out eventually. This looks great in the mean time.

1942 was OK with 32 players, and amazing with 64, only 24?


How about instead of this they ramp up production on the ad-supported Battlefield Heroes.

This may be the only XBLA game I actually go buy points for lol (the other points I've gotten have been free because of those promotional deals and whatever. Never actually bought a points card.). Absolutely LOVED BF1942.

With an expected price point of I dunno...$30 possibly more seeing as it's EA. With their gonna try and bend me over then to hell with them, but at a reasonable price how can you refuse?

Holy eff, this is my most anticipated game of this year so far.
I can't wait for some Zero dogfights again, there's been nothing like it for WW2 since BF42.

I loved those levels on BF1942. I remember just trying to blitz that beach to get the airfield. Good times.

Looks great. While I'm a bit tired of WW2 games, it will be good to have enjoyable air combat back in a Battlefield game.

Oh man, I skimmed by this headline this morning and saw 1943 and just thought it was a remake/homage of the Capcom game (or a sequel to last year's 1942: Joint Strike).

But then I noticed the Gallery link on the left tonight.. And it's actually a new Battlefield game!

The only one in the series I really liked was BF2 (console controls suck, 1942 sucked since I played BF2 first, 2142 was silly, and I never played Vietnam). This kind of just seems like a remake of 1942, so I doubt I'll really like it, but I'd buy it for $10 on PC (but no more, because of the small number of maps and small number of players; hell, the full BF2 is only $8 on Amazon anymore).

That's another thing, I'm really glad to see BF back on PC (where it belongs :) :) :) ).

I hope they bring back parashoots.

what the hell? the battlefield series, were, and should still be first and foremost pc games! and now they release this kind of CRAP! only 3 maps?! AND they dare to ask money for it too? or will they release other maps later? (for which you will definitely have to pay money for too, knowing dice/ea games)
battlefield 1942 was the best, vietnam was okay, but after that its just become a milking cow for which they release half assed games with a battlefield lable, and then ask money for expansions which bring it up to a somewhat respectable level
