I agree, Dark Sector was rad. Definitely an entertaining game. And now you can grab it for like, $8 used for the 360.

I'm on the few people who really enjoyed Dark Sector. While the story was lacking, I felt the game play was more than enjoyable. Hopefully some PC gamers will find Dark Sector enjoyable too.

Yes, I loved this game. You get to be such a badass by the end. Story sucks, but meh.

I found it extremely repetitive and didn't leave any thing that pulled me back to playing it. I still haven't beat the game.

I bought this new at Game Crazy for like $10 based solely off of Justin's recommendation on one of the podcasts but haven't had time to play it yet.

Glaives are already standard - they're called "hubcaps." Watch when one comes flying off near a group of pedestrians if you don't believe me.

I've never given this game a second glance, but telling me that it is "rad" has me intrigued enough to pick it up. It's $14.99 at the Beast Buy near me. That's rad as well.

You know what else is rad? The word rad. I used it myself in a recent comment. I think that was like the first time since '93. Hopefully we can bring it back.

To hear Dark Sector is rad, well I'm surprised. When it released it was way under my radar. I just may put it on my backlist. Rad.

I agree Dark Sector is awesome! I picked it up at Gamestop for 10 bucks and
while It's not perfect. It's fun and kicks ass!, with what I would describe as wonky RE4 style controls, but good enough to be adequate. There's no reason to hate this game, but there's no reason to go crazy over it either. It's a good game, just not an amazing classic game.

How can people say PC gaming is dying when the platform is getting more console ports as of late? Well, maybe its not thriving, but not dying.

Because it's getting more ports, not enough original PC exclusives.

Chinpo,

Unfortunately, the PC doesn't get quite as many well advertised exclusives as consoles because fewer people have them; console owners also pay for things like skins or weapon whiles we usually either get them for free or make our own. However, when we do get a highly publicized exclusive, it usually blows a console game clear out of the water.

Off topic, but how'd the patching and Forceware updates go? That should've netted you more than a few extra frames in most of your games, while quashing bugs in others. I dunno if you caught my last post or not (seems to happen a bit). There is no way to properly have object motion blur in DX9; you can turn the feature on, but there will be graphical glitches with nanosuited characters and the aliens. No config, no amount of tinkering changes the fact it's something DX10 does more efficiently. Trust me, I've spent hours trying to get it to work to no avail; r_motionblur = 3 and r_motionblur = 5 (or up) have glitches, while r_motionblur = 4 is the best DX9 can actually do.

So, if you're still finding the DX10 renderpath a bit too demanding in terms of overall performance but don't want to give up motion blur (hey, it's actually enough to tempt me in using my Vista X64 Ultimate when I get another HDD and more RAM), email me at joystiqer77@gmail.com (I've set up a dummy account for the following purpose) and I can email you the configs I've tweaked. Don't expect 50-60 FPS, but you should be getting image quality comparable or better (in some instances) than Very High while maintaining a persistent 30-40 FPS (Crysis stays smooth until 24 FPS). Again, for Crysis at least, I suggest installing Xconfig and either customizing or deleting its autoexec found in the Crysis/game/config folder; the ones I use simply have to be put in the first folder (Crysis).

I hated the control system. It was clearly designed by the same sadist who put together Resident Evil 5's ugly mess of a control scheme.

The controls were the best thing about this game. By the time you got to the end of the game you were so adept at using the controls that you felt like there was nothing the game could throw at you that you couldn't defeat.

This game was so rewarding because it success was very skill based.

But it was only electric sometimes.
I think they should have gone with their original concept, it looked a lot more .... "rad."

I'm gonna need some RadAway.

Yep. I agree. That's a good way to put it: Rad.

And, yeah, it was a game that rewarded you for progressing. I really, really enjoyed it.
