Lost & Damned to add new hip-hop music, TV content and commercials
Per our conversation with Rockstar Games and information gathered from a recent Associated Press report, we've learned that Grand Theft Auto IV's The Lost & Damned downloadable content will feature new music, television programming (including a new season of Republican Space Rangers!) and radio commercials.Flexmaster Flex, along with a few other artists, will be featured in Lost & Damned. We're also told that Trevor Tamerri Smith, Jr. (aka Busta Rhymes) will exclusively debut his latest track, "Conglomerate" in the DLC. We're sure the Busta news would be more interesting if we still lived in 1996, but just go with it. All-new songs (and presumably new commercials) will be added to five of the in-game radio stations and, as with all GTA IV-featured music, players can "tag" each song for purchase through iTunes. Woo-ha!

We have a radio station called beat here in vancouver
Tiptup300 @ Feb 5th 2009 10:56PM
Am I the only one who hated the radio system in GTA 4, the way they did it dynamicly made it so it would repeat the same songs over and over and over. Plus there was only ONE rock station? I mean SERIOUSLY!? In a world where there's a Rock Band and not a Rap Group, you'd think they'd know to put more real music on the disc.
Deone @ Feb 5th 2009 2:35PM
What about a replay. Give us at least 30 second save-able replays on the 360 version and I will retract everything I've said about the franchise getting a little stale. I won't mean it, but I will retract it.

Everything you said? What exactly did you say and why should anyone think it's important?
joeybeast @ Feb 5th 2009 2:36PM
I swear I will not buy this if Soulja Boy's in it.
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Feb 5th 2009 5:12PM
If San Andreas is any indications, I think Rockstar has decent tastes when it comes to hip-hop.
Brucie_K @ Feb 5th 2009 5:13PM
The good people of Rockstar have better taste in music than that. They never fail to deliver.
The music of the GTA series has always been top notch.
Jonathan @ Feb 5th 2009 2:38PM
What about WKTT, Integrity 2.0, and other talk stations? Will those be a part of the 5 stations that get new content?
snarfoogle @ Feb 5th 2009 3:14PM
Please tell me there's new Just or Unjust. PLEASE!
Readme @ Feb 5th 2009 4:37PM
I'm really hoping on some new Integrity 2.0 content. The hot dog vendor segment gets me every time! The "I just wanna grab parts of the female anatomy and then go away" guy is hilarious as well.
utterer @ Feb 5th 2009 2:39PM
It's Funkmaster Flex. Not Flexmaster Flex.
dark_inchworm (on Steam!) dark inchworm (on XBL!) @ Feb 5th 2009 2:41PM
Yeah, I was about to say... unless he's pulled a P. Diddy recently, his name starts with a Funk.
Lord Negatron @ Feb 5th 2009 2:55PM
I am sure it was a typo *wink*.
Also, if Dustin is not in the NY area, he gets a pass.
Don't ask me who any radio personalities are in LA, oh aside from the guy in San Andreas, Julio D; is it? (sarcasm)
j.howlett @ Feb 5th 2009 3:04PM
what he said
utterer @ Feb 5th 2009 3:47PM
NY Area or not, the story is still regurgitating a press release from Associated Press that says:
"To that end, they've enlisted DJ Funkmaster Flex to make a show for the game's fictional Liberty City, which sits right outside of a New York-type metropolis."
Plus the dude had his own TV show, nationally released commercial mixtapes and most importantly his own brand of driving shoe (was it sketchers or lugz). PASS DENIED.
Lord Negatron @ Feb 5th 2009 4:17PM
Are you defending Funk "pay me enough, i'll play your song and say its the best" Flex? That is not New York, at all.
Your pass is denied. ROFL.
utterer @ Feb 5th 2009 5:48PM
I am not defending him, I am pointing out a clear typographical error. As for "pay me enough, i'll play your song and say its the best" , That could be the middle name of any radio DJ that is on nowadays
PASS REINSTATED
JCP @ Feb 5th 2009 2:48PM
OMG!!! its gonna be hot ! can't wait, malc's bike in the trailer looked hot,
it would be a little weird if they give you a mission to kill Niko or something cause the voice actor complained about his pay, still I wouldn't mind lol
iFester @ Feb 5th 2009 2:49PM
A Hip-Hop station for an add-on that features a Biker Gang? They're supposed to be Hellbent for Leather. *goes and listens to Judas Priest*
Deeznuts420 @ Feb 5th 2009 3:32PM
im pretty sure theres another guy who has melanin
Readme @ Feb 5th 2009 4:39PM
There's also a hefty metal addition to the LCHC station.
sethcheek @ Feb 5th 2009 2:50PM
Are you saying they're adding iTunes buying through the game, or did you just mean to say Amazon.com?
rolf @ Feb 5th 2009 2:51PM
LOL, what about new clothing options, more fleshed out city etc.
THIS is the crap we get?
nope, wont get my money, ill save it for the Saints Row DLC, least that will be worth it.
Readme @ Feb 5th 2009 4:33PM
Have you taken the time to read the complete list of features?
Stupidiot @ Feb 5th 2009 2:51PM
Have they said anything about new weapons or vehicles?
I haven't kept up-to-date with this at all, and I don't think it'll add much playability with just a handful of missions.
Lord Negatron @ Feb 5th 2009 3:02PM
Yes, new weapons and vehicles plus a minimum 10 hours gameplay, "minimum". -$20 bucks. Keep in mind some of our smash titles are 7-8hrs @ $60.
tmacairjordan87 @ Feb 5th 2009 2:54PM
Finally Rockstar got their act together and is releasing a bunch of useful stuff to the gameplay. Wait...what's that? Oh, I guess I was hoping for new gameplay stuff so much my mind twisted the headline to what I wanted it to be :(

Maybe you should get all your information before you start speaking as if you have all your information. You dig?
ebola! @ Feb 5th 2009 2:54PM
I hope you'll be able to access DLC features like the new radio content and the film grain in the original story as well.
WPstart @ Feb 5th 2009 2:54PM
GTA4's soundtrack is very weak compared to Vice City and San Andreas. It's sounding like the DLC isn't going to be changing that any time soon. :S
Lord Negatron @ Feb 5th 2009 2:58PM
Matter of opinion...
Obie @ Feb 5th 2009 3:26PM
Well you can always play your Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus CD's from your hard drive buddy.
Deeznuts420 @ Feb 5th 2009 3:35PM
im pretty sure he listens to lazytown
Markez (Rubberband Banjo till Death) @ Feb 5th 2009 3:36PM
SR2's soundtrack is great. Just saying.
butaneko @ Feb 5th 2009 3:53PM
MSX FM IS THE BUSINESS!
WPstart @ Feb 5th 2009 4:31PM
Obviously it was just my opinion. I wasn't stating that was how everyone felt.
The radio just isn't worth listening to in GTA4, >>>IMO

+1 to you sir
Curtis @ Feb 5th 2009 3:03PM
I wish there was a station that would read your ripped music but interlace it with a DJ. How cool would that be?
baby sea tuna @ Feb 5th 2009 3:05PM
Music update? Please tell me they're going to replace that one shitty reggae song that plays EVERY SINGLE TIME I go into the Jamaican pool hall.

I really enjoy "Driver" from Buju Banton, though. Also, "Call Pon Dem" and "Youth Dem Cold."
And if not for IV, I'd probably have never heard these great tracks.
embassy @ Feb 5th 2009 3:06PM
Hey now, I'd say Busta has been relevant post-1996.
I mean sh*t, he currently has a hit club song about having as much money as Arab Oil tycoons. If that's not relevant, what is?
Haggard @ Feb 5th 2009 3:11PM
So a Microsoft exclusive game (in effect) allows you to tag music for purchase from Apple?
Wayne-Z @ Feb 5th 2009 3:15PM
Um.. You can tell that whoever wrote this article doesnt listen to hip-hop.. Butsa has ALWAYS been current.. And Conglomerate is a hott track with a bunch of great (and current) rappers on it.

how can he premiere a track thats been kicking around for a month?
Swagman @ Feb 5th 2009 3:42PM
"We're sure the Busta news would be more interesting if we still lived in 1996, but just go with it. "
Considering the game takes place in the present . . . you know, in the year 20xx, one would think that a new Busta Rhymes track release would fit right in.
