We're sure that a gigantic portion of our readership has a boundless love for two seemingly unrelated items: Nintendo DS adventure games, and the opera (staged musicals, that is, not the web browser). This large, imaginary group of people will likely flip their imaginary lids when they hear that Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney will be making it's theatrical debut in Japan in the form of an Ace Attorney Opera.
The production is being performed by the Takarazuka Revue, an all-female troupe, raising some ponder-worthy questions about the girlification of the game's heavily-bearded Judge. According to the Revue's producer, the troupe is currently finishing up rehearsals and should be ready to harmonize their "Objections!" in front of a crowd by the end of February.

Oh, man! I wish I was still there! The Takarazuka are awesome! We learned about them in my contemporary Japanese culture class. Japanese housewives go bananas for the main woman who plays the male role.

These opera's are usually pretty fun to watch on youtube or something, but I do have some gripes with this one.
For starters, if you're not the actual voice actors, then I think it's really required to do your costumes right.
(E.G: the hunter X hunter musicals had the actual voice actors, but only Hisoka and Gon had their series-outfits)
I've seen a lot of cosplayers who do a better job at the costumes. (And not to sound self-centered or anything...but yeah, that includes my Larry Butz costume...)
Phoenix and Edgeworth's hair, Larry's pants and shoes, Mia's suit (not pictured here, but on the Jap. Capcom site.) , etc...
And I'm not even starting on Lotta Heart, if that is supposed to be her on the left of that picture.
At first I was hoping this was just a picture at a rehearsal, without wigs, but the official site shows Phoenix with the brown hair gelled forward (WTH, isn't that Appolo's style?) so yeah.....
Well, that's my 2 dollars on this.
I'm open for debate. XD

I'd love to see an epic opera complete with over the top symphonic music and sopranos belting out "OBJECTION!" in Italian.....

I'm really confused why people keep calling this "opera"... Takarazuka do musical theater. Less Metropolitan, more Broadway.

Takarazuka is a really talented group. Haven't seen them, but heard some of their songs and they're great.

I love Ace Attorney. I wish I could see something like this in America.
