Am I the only one who thinks tennis games reached their pinnacle with the NES Nintendo version. Everything that has come since seems like it falls short by trying to be too much.

I prefer virtua tennis on the dreamcast over any other tennis game.

Sorry dude but you're wrong. As mentioned, Virtua Tennis 1 on Dreamcast was pretty much the greatest tennis game ever made. In fact, my college roommate and I used to come back from playing real tennis and IMMEDIATELY play this.

I was another devotee to Virtua Tennis on Dreamcast. Really simple but deep controls that made for some epic matches! I was so disappointed with later games like Top Spin which became so reliant on perfect timing for super shots.

Crocodiles eh? That might bring my interest back to tennis games. I'm glad that tennis games are still being made. After owning two, I'm not sure if i would pick this one up. Will have to see if this one offers something that hasn't been offered before.

Whoa, another tennis game. SSSSSWWWWEEEEET! Screw The Agency, Dark Void, Arkham Asylum, Bioshock 2, DCUO, Bionic Commando, Killzone 2, Chinatown wars, LA Noir (any info on this fucker yet?), and the rest of the AAA titles that will be pissing me for being so abundant come holiday 2009, I'll be playing Virtua Tennis 12 hours a day!

And shag you're mostly right. Tennis is tennis, what else can you do with it? Mario Tennis for Virtual Boy was cool to me at the time, and I still like some Wii sports tennis with friends occasionally, no matter how bare bones the experience.

Crocodiles and fruits?

I must be the only person that owned the last PS3 version since no one else has commented to the fact that...this "new minigame feature with fruits and crocodiles" was...guess what...IN THE LAST VIRTUA TENNIS!

I've played tennis my whole life so I'll probably drop the coin to get this....when the bottom falls out of the price.

Hopefully I'll be able to get this when it comes out. Huge tennis fan, love Roger Federer... just a brilliant player. It would be my first tennis video game.

Would anyone know if this series (Virtua Tennis) is better than 2K's TopSpin?

I'm a huge tennis fan and i absolutely love Top spin 3 (except There's no Nadal :\) it has a very realistic game play and super graphics, looks like watching it on TV, the online is fun aswell, although i'm not that good at it, i'd go for top spin 3 over virtua tennis series

In Top Spin 3, you get Nadal on the PS3 version. I believe is because Nadal has a contract with Sony Playstation. I'd expect the same in Virtua Tennis 2009.

Top Spin leans realistic. Virtua Tennis leans arcade. Top Spin 3 had a steep learning curve, but once I learned how to play it was awesome.

how about a bit more variety in players. Though it won't happen any time soon, it would be nice if (at least) the top 50 players in the ATP ranking were in the game.

Virtua Tennis on the Dreamcast FTW!!!! We still have a "Championship trophy" we still play for every couple of months. Of all the games we've done this for, this one is the most coveted....

maybe it'd be nice if they get some rights this time around so we can see a lot more branding and the majors tournament names.

online mode would be great too.

more atp ranked tennis players too.

honestly, give me at least those things and keep everything the same and i'll get the game.

I like this series a lot and I've purchased the last two for PS2 and PS3, but they need to seriously expand the World Tour mode to get any more coin from myself.

I don't mind the number of top players, but generate some fictional characters as well (playing a crippled Federer or Nadal is terrible) and improve the ranking system.

Ever since playing Virtua Tennis on the Dreamcast, I have fallen in love with this series. Its totally arcade tennis and that is what makes it so great.

Hopefully they have the bowling pin challenge back again! YAY!

Amazing I was searching the net for VT4 yesterday and here's the news :-) I dumped VT3 for Topspin 3 but graphics seem to age fast on the PS3 as Topspin didn't look as crisp anymore as when I first picked up TS3. Will Nadal also only appear on PS3? I heard he has an exclusivity deal with Sony.

Virtua Tennis 3 was great, but the lack of Online play was pretty bad...

They say this has online leaderboards....How about online play, please?

Agreed, Virtua Tennis on the Dreamcast is the all-time best tennis game. I hoped VT3 would be close but no luck.

Please SEGA go back to the Dreamcast controls and gameplay. I still play it to this day alone and with a buddy of mine you also had the game years ago....

If they manage to do that I will definatley buy it....

I hate how Sharapova is in the game! She's been out of action for a year! Ranked in the low 50s. I hope Serena's in it :)
