We know that we normally wait until Monday to bring you fresh Free Game Club offerings, but, to be honest, we couldn't go another day without bringing this gem to your attention. If you have any place in your heart for adventure games (especially those of the LucasArts variety), then you must, must play Ben There, Dan That, a hilarious love letter to adventure games of yore.
As best friends Ben and Dan, you'll be abducted by aliens, fall out of a cow's rectum and become a pan-dimensional murderer, all in an effort to return to their depressingly ramshackle apartment. The graphics are decidedly low-fi and the walking animations are comically terrible, but the presentation belies some preciously goofy puzzles and genuinely hilarious writing.
We weren't at all familiar with developer Zombie Cow before we sat down with the game, and now we can't wait to see what they do next. What do you think?

I recommended you guys put free flash and download games on the nowplaying list. Didn't realize you already had it elsewhere on the site. Going to try this now, as I'm trapped in my man cave while some dudes install some new carpet for me. I'll be back!

Shit was cracking me up. Looking back at Monkey Island in high school, i thought it was the mood altering drugs that made it so funny, but sober as a cucumber, I was laughing my ass off during this game. And I've only been to three screens.
I'm going to send Zombie Cow a dollar for this gem, and I hope Joystiq members do the same. Thanks for introducing me to this.
The frustration of figuring out what to do next is, well frustrating, but that is what makes a point and click game work isn't it? Have to learn to speak a little British, but nothing wrong with that, eh?

The developers (Ben and Dan) are friends of a few staffers of PCZone mag, which had a few interviews and previews of it.
Might give it a whirl over the weekend.

They're making a sequel called Time, Gentleman Please... Presumably features a lot of zombies, time travel and polite men.

There are a fuck-ton of great games like this made with AGS. Some real gems out there, too. As a matter of fact, Yahtzee made some excellent ones years ago if I'm not mistaken (5 Days A Stranger? And there was a pseudo-sequel set in space).

I love this game. Played it a few months ago and enjoyed it so much that I decided I should send them a tenner. Can't wait for the sequel.
Glad to see Joystiq recognising the genius that is BTDT.
