Guns N' Roses' Chinese Democracy album coming to Rock Band this spring
In a recent interview with Billboard, Axl Rose stated that "Chinese Democracy" was coming February 28 to Rock Band, but that information has since been updated to a "spring" release. What was also unclear -- you know, given the source -- was whether Mr. Rose was talking about Chinese Democracy the song or the full album.
We've followed up with Harmonix and it confirmed that the full Chinese Democracy album will be available as Rock Band DLC this spring, with no word on price. Now "Shackler's Revenge" won't be lonely anymore and it'll have its other CD playmates.
[Thanks, Travis]

I didn't like shackler's revenge and i'm probalby not going to pick up this album because of that.
Travis @ Feb 6th 2009 9:38PM
Theres only one other song on there that sounds like Shacklers Revenge, and thats the title track. The others sound a little more like the GnR we know and love.
silencer @ Feb 8th 2009 4:52PM
Ugh, when that song came up in a mystery setlist I couldn't believe what I was hearing. What an awful awful song.
oolz @ Feb 6th 2009 1:23PM
several solid songs on there for those who are open minded enough to give it a chance. Plenty of challenging parts too.
Shagittarius @ Feb 6th 2009 1:26PM
If he had called it 'Axl Rose' : Chinese Democracy' I probably would have bought it.
Zoot Suit Jedi @ Feb 6th 2009 1:29PM
I'm with you on that one.
Drew @ Feb 6th 2009 11:18PM
You're hard to please. Dude, Catcher In the Rye is epic.
BxGT @ Feb 6th 2009 1:32PM
Great for rock band, i am still predicting that a couple of months from now he will want them taken down for publicity.
ronEbear @ Feb 6th 2009 1:37PM
(Vomits)
Jerk Face @ Feb 6th 2009 2:45PM
I LOL'ed legitimately on that one. Ha ha ha..
h2c @ Feb 6th 2009 1:38PM
It has been a long time since I have liked every single song on an album.
Chinese Democracy is great. There is a lot going on in every song.
spikeylee @ Feb 6th 2009 1:43PM
some of the songs on Chinese Democracy are ok, so I might pick those up.
but how about giving us some CLASSIC GNR like the full Appetite for Destruction instead??
jorojoserojas @ Feb 6th 2009 3:52PM
Yes!
Khaled @ Feb 6th 2009 6:27PM
Appetite for destruction rules. I haven't heard this one yet.
Matt @ Feb 6th 2009 1:49PM
I'm so sick of all the 80's rock.
Scooter @ Feb 6th 2009 1:52PM
Wut?
This was released last year.
Nap @ Feb 6th 2009 4:36PM
MOAR '80s ROCK FROM '08!
Rocketboy @ Feb 6th 2009 6:13PM
Welllll, the album almost started in the 80's.
John Perkins @ Feb 6th 2009 1:54PM
Sweet! And by "sweet" I mean, "meh."
It's good that they release a ton of songs that cater to many different tastes, they just don't release enough songs that cater to my specific taste. Oh well, great for the 200 or so people who are looking forward to this.
russtophiles @ Feb 6th 2009 1:55PM
So long as I can play Buckethead's guitar parts I'm good... next time I'm at a friend's place who has RB2.
Brent @ Feb 6th 2009 2:00PM
ugh, there are so many better albums out there. this is a travesty to good music that deserves exposure everywhere
KeenCommander @ Feb 6th 2009 2:15PM
I haven't heard the rest of the album, but Shackler's Revenge sucked horribly. Hard to believe this band used to actually create great songs.
Apollo @ Feb 6th 2009 3:29PM
Band? What band?
All that's left is poor ol' Axl and his rubbish shit.
Banana Kid @ Feb 6th 2009 2:15PM
Kind of seems to me like there's a rhythm game divide between Slash (on the goddamn cover of GHIII) and Axl (Rock Band is the only place supporting his shitty new songs) that is keeping the good GNR tracks from us.
Much like in real life, the whole thing benefits nobody.
SugarDaddy @ Feb 6th 2009 3:11PM
Seriously. All I want is some classic GnR and they keep trying to shove this crap down our throats.
jorojoserojas @ Feb 8th 2009 1:27PM
I believe Axl kept the rights to all the songs, but I could be wrong.
Mr. Bungo @ Feb 6th 2009 2:26PM
I haven't heard much of Chinese Democracy, so my opinion on this DLC is pretty nonexistent (though Shackler's Revenge was pretty mediocre to my ears). I only hope that this G'N'R relationship with Rock Band clears the way for Appetite For Destruction to show up as a full album. Please, please, please!
Duke @ Feb 6th 2009 5:41PM
The album was a huge disappointment. Shockingly uninteresting to listen to.
Slust @ Feb 6th 2009 2:34PM
If you purchase this album as DLC you are a part of the problem.
This isn't Guns 'n Roses, this is Axl 'n Shmucks.
darley @ Feb 6th 2009 2:42PM
I could really USE my APPETITE for ILLUSION and LIES
Drew @ Feb 6th 2009 11:22PM
I could.... fucking..... MOVE IT ON OVER for some quality time with some BEAUTIFUL GIRLS.
Hey hey I pulled it off.
dunnypop @ Feb 6th 2009 2:47PM
worst album EVER!
False @ Feb 6th 2009 2:53PM
Guns 'n Roses - Slash and Duffy =/= Guns 'n Roses
Ahmedz @ Feb 6th 2009 2:55PM
we want some of the classics, not this industrial shit >_>
Mat @ Feb 16th 2009 4:48PM
I think you mean "corporate" and how could this be corporate if it took over 15 years to release. Please, don't open your cake hole unless something intellectual is going to come out immediately following. Dumbass.
Ahmedz @ Feb 16th 2009 4:53PM
I can't believe you replied 10 days after I posted this comment -_-;
BeckRokk @ Feb 6th 2009 3:00PM
Axl: "JK GUYS WERE GONNA DELAY IT FOR OVER A DECADE FIRST"
jinn35 @ Feb 6th 2009 3:11PM
personally, i am happy. Most of the songs on the album were good so i will probably be picking this up.
baconaholic @ Feb 6th 2009 3:18PM
Wrong album.
Michael T @ Feb 6th 2009 4:04PM
Wait, why couldn't they give us a GOOD GnR album, again?
Not that their being a bunch of cock-teases (musically) makes my fanboy-ism waver even a little, mind you.
Antagonist @ Feb 6th 2009 4:06PM
It'll probably take 14 years for them to actually get the album onto the XBLM.
moominsean @ Feb 6th 2009 4:54PM
never heard of it.
ill trooper @ Feb 6th 2009 5:12PM
Not necessary.
Fan @ Feb 6th 2009 5:38PM
I love that any time I read anything about Chinese democracy people say how much it sucks but their only problem with the album is that Slash and Duffy are there any more. This is music and this is a great album so if you havent listen to it then you are missing out. Also for people who use plastic fake instruments to be down grading a band is too funny.
Duke @ Feb 6th 2009 5:42PM
I have the album and my wife is a huge GNR fan, so we have heard it enough. Save me the bs - This album blew!
Fan @ Feb 6th 2009 5:50PM
Im not going to say everybody. Plus get ready because Chinese Democracy might be 4 albums total so your wife is going to be spending. Better is a great song.
Rocketboy @ Feb 6th 2009 6:13PM
So, because I play a game with plastic instruments, I have no right to say what music I find good or bad?
Face it, most people think this album stinks because it does.
HippoHero @ Feb 6th 2009 6:19PM
I'm not a big fan and I don't really care who's in the band or not, but I thought the entire thing was pretty boring. If it wasn't riding the popularity of the name, I don't think people would have paid it much attention.
I really hated the way the guitar sounded on the album; like it was diseased or something. A good guitar should sound bitchy and throaty, not sick.
It was just mediocre.
jinn35 @ Feb 6th 2009 7:18PM
Why do people have to get so crazy when their musical interests differ from others? If he liked the album, there is no reason to rip him apart just because you didn't. Different people like differant music, can't people just accept that?
ill trooper @ Feb 7th 2009 12:22AM
No the problem I have with 'Chinese Democracy' is that it's a big ProTools wankfest with goofy ProTools tricks like dropping to silence on the 4th beat, maybe a filtered noise, and then a big loud ensemble sound of putrid-sounding guitars hits you on the one, and then stuttering guitars that sound more suited for a Linkin Park, Garbage, or XStatic recording, and that's not G'n'R! ...actually... I guess it is now. It's a lot of studio tricks and crap dolling up a mediocre collection of mediocre songs without any purpose - even the quick irony of the title is long-lost, as so much time has passed since it was announced.
That album was better when it was a distant dream that kept getting pushed back. It had mystique and never actually had to deliver because it appeared to never be coming out. I only hope Dre's 'Detox,' also years late, avoids the same fate of arriving so over-cooked.
