In the closest thing you'll find to a Megaton announcement at New York Comic Con, Fallout 3 executive producer Todd Howard has confirmed during a panel at the show that Bethesda is now working on an iPhone game. News of this comes from Newsweek corespondent N'Gai Croal's twitter feed (we heard it, too -- sitting in the audience!) and includes no other details. That's because there weren't any.
Whether the game is Fallout-related, Oblivion-related or something completely new, we're intrigued to find out. Who knows, maybe it's that ill-fated Oblivion PSP title that never made it to market. Check back later for our full report on the Todd Howard and Ken Levine panel at Comic Con.

If they make Fallout 1 and/or 2 for the iPhone using an insanely cut down (but still with Vats) Fallout 3 engine I'll be smiling all over this end of the moon.

I think we will instead see Fallout 1/2 recreated on the PC using Fallout 3's engine from the community and thanks to the developer's SDK, the G.E.C.K.
The first two games are great but now many who have played 3 cannot go back to them as they feel dated to them. It would be nice to give them a fresh coat of paint for the new generation of gamers to try out again, I played them back in 98/99.

Honestly, I doubt it. You might see remake projects start to pop up, but if it's anything like the classic Doom remakes in the Doom 3 engine, they'll never get finished. I would argue Fallout remakes would take quite a bit more work than Doom remakes, but I guess I haven't seen the dev tools for Fallout 3 / Oblivion.

yes but Curmeo was an attention whore. Attention whores get banned then jump back into the action headfirst.

It would be interesting to see how they would end up as competitors. Personally i think it'll end up like the relationship between consoles and PCs, it won't be a competition, it'll merely be an alternative
Of course, Apple has made statements about trying to be competition, but then again the Computer makers of 1985 claimed that they would replace console gaming, so there's that.

I honestly don't know what to think about that. The iPhone/iPod is EXPENSIVE. I wonder who in the world would pick up an iPhone to game on over the alternatives.....but then every day on the train I see groups of little kids, each with his or her own iPhone. It boggles the mind. How can a platform be taken seriously when it's so far out of reach? Or have remarkably expensive cell phones become the norm and I just haven't noticed?
No, seriously, I'm not being sarcastic, I actually want to know what's going on there.

@AJ - in what way is the iPhone any more expensive than any other Smartphone? In terms of the Touch when you compare it to other mp3 players of similar flash memory size, again... how is it more expensive? In many cases, the Apple offerings are either equal to CHEAPER than it's competitors. So, I'm not understanding this logic here.

Well the title states Bethesda is working on an Iphone title, but I assume it'll work on the Ipod Touches as well right? The starter Touch model starts at a bit over $200, not too much more expensive than the PSP.
My own main gripe with the IPhone/Ipod Touch is shortage of storage, I wish there was a hard drive option or memory stick/SD slot.

Exactly. Instead of learning how to code for the iPhone, how about they learn how to code properly for the PC, PS3, and Xbox. Personally, I have a $60 blu-ray coaster because I can't play the game for more than 15 minutes before it freezes.
Thankfully, my blu-ray coasters are the envy of all my friends at parties. Well, those and my toilet paper rolls of twenty dollar bills.

attn: Bethesda
How about porting over all that DLC for Fallout 3 to ps3, first? lol.
That'd probably earn more money than an iPhone title. Their priorities are all jacked up.
