The Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle (or USK, for those who are terrified of lengthy, foreign words), Germany's game rating organization, isn't traditionally known for bringing us the hottest scoops. However, a recent listing on their site perked up our ever-attentive ears -- they recently stamped a Freigegeben ab 6 Jahren gemäß § 14 JuSchG (restricted for those below the age of six) rating to a PS3 version of Worms. Given that the genre of said listing is "Arcade", we think it's safe to assume that they're referring to a PSN port of the XBLA title.
This isn't a particularly surprising turn of events -- Worms has sold over half a million on the XBLA, and its done so over the course of about two years. However, Team 17, the game's developer, hasn't formally announced the PSNified title. Assuming the USK hasn't got its wires crossed, we should be hearing more about the port fairly soon.

USK is one of the reasons why the German PSN sucks major balls. Every game with a gun involved gets rated for adults only and thus not listed on PSN :(
Luckily we are able to logon to the UK or Austrian Store. :)
The second reason is that Sony obviously hates Europeans. The US Store is way way better than any Euro PSN... You could even say that they put a little love into it ;)

Personally I hope we get the PSP version instead of the XBLA version
Worms Open Warfare 2 is better than the XBLA version IMO

Was Open Warfare 2 any better than 1? 1 disappointed me quite a bit. It was so incredibly watered down compared to Armageddon or World Party. Far less weapons, a crappy quick playish campaign with no diversity.
When the game comes to PSN, it'll be worth it solely for the online multiplayer, but I just hope it's better than OW1

Worms 2 was the first game I was ever seriously addicted to. Of course, I played on PC online, a version of the game known as "roping". If you don't know what roping is, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4zwFLS1CZk . That is Worms Armageddon, but you get the idea.

YESSSS! My favourite franchise coming to PS3 at long last!
Yes, it's my favourite one even after they went completely downhill with Worms 3D and onwards. Even the Wii one sucks hard.
And here we are... a remake of the classic original... for the PS3.
Port Worms World Party or Worms Armageddon and I'll be your bitch again Team 17!

OH MY. I would be well up for this, Worms is one of my most played games ever. I know many others who I used to play it with who will be well up for it too. Bring it!

So how close is Worms to Gunbound? I've never played Worms but I've played Gunbound a whoooole lot.

Gunbound is much more technical than Worms - thinks of Worms as Gunbound arcadified. There's no angle or wind figures (and the wind changes pretty much every turn anyway). And the worms are much more mobile than the mobiles in Gunbound.
At the end of the day the two are very different games, but both excellent in their own way. Give Worms a try though - it's a testiment to the original back on the Amiga that gameplay has remained basically unchanged in all these years and it still feels so fresh.
