when this game was announced, it was a must buy...
now, with all the maps, it's a pre-order.

Can you still play with people who own Halo 3 if you have ODST? If yes, then that is awesome. My Halo 3 disk got scratched if I can still play my friends who own Halo 3 then I will definitely be buying this game.

It's 5 hours of new Halo material plus some new maps for $20 I'm presuming. It's worth it for the Halo fan I'm sure.

Also I really hope we can download just the ODST campaign on Live for $15.
Rachet and Clank had a 5-6 hour expansion for that much. I think it's only reasonable Halo 3 is treated the same.

Well, I am really glad i didn't buy the DLC. the money i saved on not buying the dlc is definitely going towards this game. Thanks Bungie. This must be the best thing you have ever done for your consumers.

@offday
lame attempt is lame.
Here is a crazy notion ...
Halo 3 & Killzone 2 are BOTH good games.
I know it doesn't seem possible but it's true that there can be two different games that are both good, in the same genre and on different platforms.
@Deaftly
The Killzone 2 demo did the same for me.

No you could download it off the EU PSN store without having pre-ordered the game - even here in the good ole US of A. I was never meh about it but it did reinforce the day 1 purchase for me.

Halo 3 is a good game. As much as the PS3 fans would like to deny it, it is. I don't know when it came out, and people are still busy playing it. As for Killzone 2, as much as the PS3 fans would like to say it is a good game, we can't. Not yet. We have to see how it plays, see if they fix the bugs, and so on.
I completely left out the sales figures. why? Because hell can freeze over, Dell can buy Apple, Obama can be impeached, and Bush reinstated as president, but KZ2 will never outsell Halo 3.

I'm a big fan of the Halo franchise. I played Halo 2 on Live for about 2 years (not straight obviously) and I own all the Halo books. But I personally thought Halo 3 was a major let down. Yes the graphics were good but the gameplay seems to have lost something. Not to mention it was far to short. I think I played Halo 3 on Live for about 2 weeks before deciding it was crap and playing CoD 4 instead. I'm hoping that ODST will bring back what made the Halo games great and right the wrong that was Halo 3.
As I've said before the slogan shouldn't of been "Halo 3, finish the fight!" it should of been "Halo 3, finish the hype!".
I think that possibly because MS now own the rights to the Halo IP that Bungie weren't that bothered with it as Halo 3 seems to be just a bridge from the Halo storyline to whatever they intend to do next (anyone who's seen the ending on Legendary knows what I mean). Although I suppose a game containing Master Chief and Cortana is still part of the IP.

Have you played Half Life: Opposing Force / Blue Shift? It's a bit like those. It's part of the same story, occuring at the same time but from a different perspective.
You play a new character in the Halo universe (an Orbital Drop Shock Trooper) who is in New Mombasa just after Master Chief leaves the area in Halo 2. It's a whole new single-player campaign.

Thank you Bob!
I appreciate you telling me straight up without being a dick or a fanboy about it.
Sounds pretty good to me. I'm sure my brother will pick it up and I can give it a run at his place.

Er... this actually seems like pretty lousy news to me. So they're trying to cover up for only having three new maps by giving us all the maps we already own? Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!!!!

'We' doesnt mean 'everyone in the world ever'.
It might shock you, but there are still people who don't own Halo 3. Getting this package now means they can still play with everybody else without having to go out and buy the original. It's pretty good news to those people..

Well to be fair, some of us wasn't stupid enough to pay 800MSP for 3 maps and so getting them all + a new campaign for a reduced price is a pretty good deal.

They eventually need to offer all of the maps to everyone in some form, so they can integrate them all into every play list. Bungie has said that these will be the last maps, and they are done with Halo 3.
I'm sure when ODST launches they will update the multiplayer to incorporate all of the maps and is also forces everyone to buy ODST.

I'm guessing $39.95 or maybe in a perfect world $29.95 ... Similar to what SOCOM Confrontation sold for I'm assuming.

I think $40, and that's a steal with those maps included. I'm just not crazy into Halo enough to pay $10 for three maps, so this is awesome for me. I'll definately be back in now.

So the 20 dollars I spent on Halo 3 DLC was wasted? Thats crap, will I still be playing with people who own halo 3? If so, I might just sell halo 3 when I buy this, I barely ever play the Halo 3 campaign, I only play multiplayer anyways.
One good thing is I can clear up a bit of HDD room that the halo 3 maps took up. Also, since this contains all Halo 3 DLC does that mean there will be no more, like, is this the end of halo 3?

Firstly, not sure how you think it was wasted, since the only 'extra' price you'll be paying now is to buy ODST's single player campaign. The maps are simply a free bonus. You can't go all hindsighty on things like this!
Bungie did already say this is the end of Halo 3, once this comes out. No more DLC.

I was hoping they were going to go in a different direction for multiplayer in this game (like class based, humans vs covenent) but I see it's going to be the same old thing. Like, really the same old thing with the same maps and everything.

I just don't see the need for another game EXACTLY the same that's all. It'd be like if Gears 3 came out, with the same exact maps for multiplayer. It's silly.
