Resident Evil 5 has an identity crisis. It's half a 3rd person shooter and half survival horror. I'm glad they added co-op but I don't understand why the inventory is only accessible while in game now instead of when you pause. It felt like a reskinned RE 4 to me and didn't evolve as much as I would have liked.

With that said I'm still going to pick it up. I think that once I can get back into the antequated control scheme I will rediscover my love for my favorite game of last generation RE 4.

Am I the only one who played all the other Resident Evil games and feels like 4 & 5 aren't really survival horror? It's as if it's a completely different game now. I say they need to either go back to survival horror or make it a real 3rd person shooter.

They aren't survival horror anymore. They multiplied the enemies and ammo by 10. They are "real" 3rd person shooters.

"Enemies seem to respawn out of nowhere and they're pretty much an endless horde. "

Urgh. Sounds like those old games on the Mega Drive where enemies would respawn once you returned to an old area. Didn't Clover get the message that this was method of extending gameplay wasn't fun, not fun at all. This also seems to be part of the NMH 'smash A to win' drinking club. I wasn't aware of that.

I'll still buy it, but if it's hard, God Hand hard, then I'll return it and wait for Little King's Story instead.

Honestly Bowser I figured this was the type of game you would be on another personal crusade over. Are things somehow different when it's on your favorite platform? Glad to see you finally stepped off your soap box long enough to give something a shot.

I enjoy your comments Bowser and I agree with a lot of them but please correct me if what I said is inaccurate. I'm not trying to pick a fight but I am fascinated to hear what's so different between this and everything else you are critical about.

Yes, it's a blatant contraction. I admit it. But it's not over my platform of preference, but for Platinum Games, the company developing this game. I've never played a Clover that I've disliked and, I think, I've played and completed every game they've released. Not that they've released many games, but still. The malaise I feel for many games these days is not at the forefront when I see or hear of their upcoming games, so I'll give this a shot. Same goes for Bayonetta.

Whited out? I think people are still confused over the buttons. + is now on the left.

I praise games all the time: Hot Shots Golf, Brawl, Space Invaders, Okami, Football Manager...when I see a flawless game I'll take time out to praise it. People just dislike it when their deities are torn down. For whatever reason I do not know.

I just find it funny that every other game is nothing but mindless carnage akin to a summer popcorn flick but this game is somehow different. This should give you a pretty good idea of your double standards and hopefully that reflected in your future postings. Again, I enjoy reading your posts but I had to call out the obvious contradiction.

Maybe from now on we can get less rhetoric and hyperbole when it comes to other violent games. It would only be fair.

This may be the first time you haven't used skullduggery in a comment!

I don't mind a lot of enemies coming out of places, but I hope they don't use infinite respawning enemies, because that is a totally outdated game design element that should just die off (and not infinitely respawn)

Things like that shows off the laziness of game devs and their willingness to use quick & cheap methods to try to extend gameplay at the cost of game enjoyment.

All that said, this game sounds really really cool.

Sounds like it could be fun but its extremely easy. It's as if you run around as a super human and can do what you like with little chance of defeat. From what I could gather the purpose is to kill with the most multipliers and the most style. It really reminds me allot of another sega published game called The Club in that regard.

Developers shoulod certainly take note that the way to cater to the strengths of the Wii is to have a highly stylized art style. Due to hardware constraints when it comes to graphics you have to make up for it with really interesting visuals. This is where the game has already gotten my attention. Kudos to platinum for the art direction.

It certainly one I will keep on my radar and I hope it has co-op, competitive or split screen versus multiplayer. This review certainly gives me the feeling that the game lacks depth and is going to be shallow in terms of any kind of story. Hopefully the over the top & goolish gameplay makes up for it. The only thing I worry about is the game getting old rather quick because of the type of game it is. Hopefully there is a wide variety of weapons and infinite finishing possibilities otherwise there is only so much you can do.

I have the feeling this game is going to be pretty bad ass and get some good reviews. I also have a gut feeling that the game isn't going to sell very well. I don't know what sales expectations are for this game so 200K world wide could be seen as a success. This is a game I has intended purchasing on day one but I will probably pass on it unless it's really compelling and the type of game that I can't live without.

Do you really think that in a giant show setting like Comic Con, that they'd have a playable demo on anything other than the easiest difficulty and in the easiest part of the game? I would REALLY recommend refraining from even talking about the difficulty considering no one knows anything about how hard the game gets other than this demo.

1) Buy a console.
2) Never sell it while it's still "alive".
3) Enjoy the good games each console has to offer.
4) There is no step 4.

I'll never understand why people sell consoles after short spans of time... You do realize that the average lifespan of development for a system is five years, right? It's not like all the games they announce/release in the first year or two is ALL the system is ever gonna get...

There's still plenty of life in Wii, 360, and PS3... And each already have a pretty good library as it is... So I can't comprehend selling any of them while they're still in production.
... I guess, unless you can make a profit off of selling the system...

Certainly you can understand that everyone has a different and unique circumstance? The reasons I sold my 360 were really very simple. It was because I had multiple hardware failures (6), my brother has a 360 I can play if need be and I just got sick and tired of spending money on something that kept having to be fixed. Not to mention I own a PS3 & Wii so thats more than enough to satisfy my gaming needs. If there is a 360 exclusive I can't live without my options are buying it on PC (they usually release on PC) or go to my brothers house and play it there. There are times I regret selling it but in the end I had pretty much stopped playing it and buying games for it because of all the problems. Over time I had actually begun to loathe the site of it. MS just had the price drop so I figured if I was going to sell it that it was the best time because the resale value would only continue to drop over time. Gears 2 was the last saving grace for me (the reason I had kept it that long) and I was so dissapointed with the game (other than the awesome Horde) that I was finished all together. I was going to was the blood off my hands once and for all.

It's a great console and I just had extremely bad luck with it. I don't expect anyone else to have my same feelings just because I had a bad experience. I don't expect everyone else to hate their 360 because I sold mine.

I was able to give a good friend a solid deal on someting he would have probably never been able to buy. I sold the 360, two wireless controllers (with rechargable bettery packs), 12 retail games (all newer ones), wi-fi adapter, 8 arcade titles, 4 months of live remaining + three 1 month cards (MS sent them to me after repairs), upgraded HDD, 3 faceplates & two headsets (one wireless) for just under $500 total. It worked out great for everyone in the end. Win/Win situation. The truth is that I had pretty much stopped using the console all together so it did me no good to have it sitting there when other people could benefit from using it.

I would agree with Omega, i've always been leary about selling things because i've felt that there will most likely be a point in the future that i wished i had them again. Of course, i've restricted my console buying totally to Nintendo, so i don't know how that works with multiple consoles, but i would think it would be better to keep it around at least through the end of the generation, hedge your bets

Of course, i understand equally the concept of limited funds, and if you make a console choice you don't like, it might be prudent to sell it for the purpose of raising funds (especially in Wii's case since, in America, you can still turn a clean profit on resale value)

I'm not a pack rat, but if any item of mine has some sort of lasting value, i'll probably keep it around. Even my GameCube is still in a box somewhere

@Khan: Personally, I sold my GC the minute Wii details were confirmed. Well, not exactly the minute, but it was on ebay within a few weeks along with all my remaining games. (Having finished them, I'd already sold off most of the GC games I'd had, but I'd kept a few favourites.)

Agree that in general it doesn't make sense to sell systems during the console's actual lifetime (GC had more or less died several years before Wii launched, and some systems are dead on arrival - N-gage anyone?) - unless you're making a profit or at least breaking even. Of course, the 360 owner who posted that explanation had a bit of a special-case reason for getting rid of it - one which I hope and assume won't apply to any systems next generation, I think MS learned their lesson on that front...

I wonder if this one will make it to Japan, and if so will they do a "blood replacement" a la NMH? The lack of blood in the Japanese version of NMH didn't bother me one bit, but with MadWorld the black/white/red visual contrast seems to be such a defining part of the game.

The problem that Im having is the enemy AI, they just walk around and barely hit the player :(

Majed, you that have tried the game, how is the enemy AI? all the videos that have gameplay show the enemies being rather slow and not that offensive.

Also, if you have played God Hand (you have, right? :

Yes, Noshino, the AI in the demo level were pretty static most of the time. They never really reacted much -- not until I got close to them. The closest comparison I can think of is the Dynasty Warrior games. There are a bunch of enemies but a lot of them just stand there. Most of time though, if you're playing, you won't notice it as much (as opposed to watching) because you'll literally be too swift in executing them.

I would like to think that enemies become smarter as the game progresses though.

Awesome. The safety thing seems like it'll probably be better in the long run, when the enemy difficulty gets higher. Many times in games where i've been trying to do something and ran into an environmental hazard in the attempt. I could imagine accidentally walking off that pier you mentioned trying to do a jumping finishing move on some enemy

It'll probably save a good bit of frustration

I played this game at Comic-con. It's fantastic. Seriously Mad World was one of the most fun games I've played in awhile. Everything is so violent and over the top that it makes it so much enjoyable.

Also, this probably has the best use of TEH WAGGLE since Mario Galaxy. It's an absolute blast to wave the Wiimote to crack someone's neck or put a chainsaw through someone's face.

And the best part is is that not only is it fun to play, but it's also fun to watch as well. Seriously this is going to be that game you bring over a friends cause me and other people were having so much fun cheering others on and commenting on how brutal this game is.

As already stated, the only negative I can say about this game is that the camera sometimes gets on your nerves. But other than that, this is the game that should be a mandatory buy for any hardcore gamer with a Wii.

i love the graphics but what i don't understand is why people feel wii games need to have "interesting" graphic styles. why not try for realistic graphics? nobody complained when the ps2, gamecube, or xbox 360 went with realistic styles even tho they're inferior horsepower wise. is it just because people will compare realistic graphics to the ps3 or 360 and find them lacking in comparison?

wow. fantastic writing.

"...the Wii's motion controls have been fully realized and maximized. The Wiimote and nunchuck controls don't feel in any way gimmicky. The controls are intuitive with a low learning curve."

"...it uses the Wii's motion controls adequately..."

guh.
