This was an incredibly tiring week for this blogger. Why? Did you notice the slew of features that went on the site in the past few days? New York Comic Con was a massive event, giving us a chance to go hands-on with DC Universe Online, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Prototype, Uncharted 2, Infamous and more. At the same time, I had to finish Killzone 2, Flower, and Resident Evil 5. Wow -- and people said 2008 was a big year for games?
I hope the second week of Joystiq PlayStation proved a better experience. It's almost overwhelming how much news and previews came out on the site. But wait, things are only going to get better. Let's just say that this week will reveal more information about a small game called "God of War III." Already, one of our writers is in LA ready to see more of the game. You'll find out more later this week.
People say 2008 didn't achieve the "Year of the PS3" status that Sony had touted. That's debatable, but there's no doubt that this year is looking amazing for the platform. This week, you had a chance to get your hands on the most anticipated PS3 release so far: Killzone 2. What did you think of it? If you read our preview and review, you know that it's an incredible, beautiful FPS that has a lot of depth in its gunplay. The demo should do an even better job of demonstrating how Killzone 2 has lived up to the hype.
We're hoping that once Killzone 2 releases, gamers will start looking forward to the other big PS3 games on the system. From what we've seen, DC Universe Online really looks to bring a unique MMO experience to the consoles. Being able to create a superhero and fly through a massive recreation of Metropolis is just fun. FreeRealms has the possibility to become a PlayStation Home-killer, with its incredible variety and unique free-to-access model. Infamous has matured quite a bit since we last saw it, and we're becoming increasingly enchanted by Sucker Punch's super-powered adventure. Uncharted 2 is also looking like a very worthy successor to the first game. The "action stealth" and more intelligent enemy AI have us very excited. Even at its early state, it looks brilliant.
There's a lot to get excited about. If any of you have me as your PSN friend, you'll also know that I have very strong feelings for a particular PS3 game. Flower is releasing on Thursday and our review will be posted soon.
