The Killzone 2 demo is great. I love turning off the HUD, Crosshairs, etc. It provides a very cinematic feel to it. Cant wait till it comes out

Flower looks great, cant wait to buy it off the PSN store (trophies too!)

and OMGWTFBBQ!?!? God of War 3!?!?

Some people in the Killzone community are complaining about 'lag' with aiming the guns....(They are not really in the community they are trolls and COD4 fanboys). But no matter how hard I try to see it...No 'lag' exists...I think they are confusing the weightyness of it with their spook problem, which COD4 fanboys are also trying impeed on that Killzone design decision....Only gripe I have is with the cover system....It should let me be able to move the other way along cover despite looking in a different direction...I pop up when I attempt to do so...Make that more dynamic and fix the issue of not being able to pop out at times.So...I just need to make money now in this shabby economy for KZ...That is the worst part of it...

i hear alot of people praising the weightiness and others hate it. i personally hated that part of the demo but i absolutely loved everything else.

after one play through on the default settings, i turned the sensitivity all the way up, changed the layout to Alternate 2, and turned on the Hold for Zoom. let me tell you, it's a completely different game like that. it moves just like any other shooter after those changes. im more of a run and gun type of guy and that brings it up to a pace close to that of Gears of War, where you can run and gun sometimes but you still need to use cover to survive. since then, i've played the demo like 10 more times. i cant remember ever being so excited for a FPS before, this game will be truly awesome.

It takes a bit of getting use to (the KZ2 control) but like others suggested, turning up the x+y sensitivity (which will apparently get rid of the "deadzone") and using te Alt 2 layout, I found it to be as intuitive as COD4 (actually more). The fact that it's takes some effort to aim which slows down the game and force to deliberate and think or different strategies, is the beauty of KZ2. After spending a few times with the demo, I can't go back to playing COD4.

I had no problems with the controls with the demo. I thought they were pretty good with the exception of the melee placement and some other stuff.

My problem with the aiming is that even when you are taking it slow, crouching behind cover, and being careful, the laggy aiming STILL makes it more difficult to take out targets. I like the fact that the game isn't a twitch shooter, but I think maybe the accuracy should go up when you are behind cover, crouching, etc.

I also wonder if the lagginess is just due to how much is going on as opposed to a design decision. I played FEAR on 640x480 my first playthrough because I had a less than adequate video card and wanted to avoid the lag.

I personally think Counter Strike did it pretty well by rewarding slower tactical gameplay with higher weapon accuracy, and punishing run and gunners and bunny hoppers by giving them insane recoil.

Having said all this, I LOVED the demo, and I'm sure I will get used to it. It just doesn't feel weighty to me, but laggy. There is a difference.

And no, I'm not a troll to the OP

If the aim lag doesn't exist then why did one of the developers make a statement about it and use the excuse "It adds weight". I feel sorry for fanboys who've deluded themselves so much that they've gone physically blind to obvious flaws. Anyone with half a brain can see the aim lag.

@Mcwilly

There is no "Lag", im wondering if you've actually played the game. I'm perfectly fine with the aiming in KZ2, yes the movements are slow, but that is done purposely. Killzone 2 is not a "twitchy" shooter, like most people are used to. It's a slower paced game.

IMO, the aiming lag is there. If I slightly move my analog stick, the game should move accordingly. I don't want the same controls, movement speed etc... as COD4. I just want responsive aiming controls.

It isn't "lag". It was an intentional design choice to give the guns a heavier feel. Turn the sensitivity up and for the love of God, quit whining.

I am going to try to clarify things. So, Troll....I mean McWilly....The design decision was a sort of weight to the gun not a delay on the right stick, that I have never experienced in the beta or the demo.@ Levi, Explain to me what the problem is like. And what you just said...That it was harder to aim.The game controls not as tight as you want (This is pointed out in the X-Play review) so I think you are alludeing the 'lag' with this problem and the low sensitivity you get in the game to make it feel more heavier. Accuracy does improve when you are crouched and aiming down the sights as that makes 90 percent of your bullets hit the target, as opposed to about 8 bullets you can sure fire into a Hig when you are stationary and not aiming the sights. In reality you could not do that with most any gun even if you were well trained in fireing it. I do not think you are a troll. I think you are confused about design decisions and a bad quality. And it leads me to believe that you and others are imagining it.

No, I am not confused, and yes, the lag is there. It's not just with the aiming either. The same exact amount of lag is present with everything that you do. I have a strong inclining that it was a problem they had to face during development, and they decided to roll with it. I have a lot of experience with game lag, having always been slow to upgrade my PC.

Do a test if you don't believe me. Turn the sensitivity all the way up (which does NOT fix the problem like some say). Put the control stick all the way to the right and immediately let go, as fast as you can, basically. The screen will actually move AFTER you let go of the stick. Press the aim button very quickly and release immediately. I don't have a problem if it takes a second for the gun to come up to the screen to aim, but the animation of the gun moving towards the screen won't even start until after you release the button. Shooting is the same. There is the same amount of space between the button press and the actual shot.

There are two common ways that a game will run less than optimal due to hardware restrictions or poorly written code. One is when the graphics are too much for the machine to handle, or the engine wasn't written for the machine's build, which will result in poor frame rates. The other is when the system's memory or processor is overburdened. If the game is coded to put the player's control after the rest of the on-screen action in a list of priorities, the control will fail. If the roles were reversed, the player would be able to move freely and controls would be responsive, but the enemies would have a lag, the explosions would lag, it would look odd.

I really am not trolling, please take what I have to say with a grain of salt. I do believe this is game lag, whether it is touted as a design decision or not, but the demo is incredible, and I am very excited for the game. I will play the crap out of it and I'm sure I'll get used to it, but it is game lag, no question about it.

Actually, one more thing - wouldn't there be less "weightiness" while aiming a pistol or grenade if it was a design mechanic? Or far more weightiness when you're aiming a rocket launcher? All weapons have the same exact lag.

(I hope this doesn't double post...)

I loved Killzone 2 demo. Everybody on my friends list does as well. It's the first game since COD4 that will have 2 copies picked up by me (for the family) on release day.. Can't wait to try online modes...

And of course, I am looking forward to DC Universe MMO, as well as GOW3 and Uncharted 2.

All in all, 2009 looks to be a good year for us PS3 fans..

KZ2 is so freaking awesome! why did they still complains about aim, control schemes, weightiness and few others??? Just shut up and enjoy this game or play other unrealistic games! because everything is so realistic in KZ2! everything are fine to me such as aim, control scheme as ATL 2 and weightiness! Im glad they will have a hard time on MP because of...realistic and weightiness. it's not the same thing from R2 because it's unrealistic and no weightiness. i bet they will be like "oh no. it's realistic and weightiness in KZ2! i wish KZ2 should be similar to R2!" yeah, go play R2, noobs!

KZ2 demo was amazing as I've said many times before. This game will live up to the hype no matter how people try to nitpick it, just like MGS4 did.

They got the weapons right. They all have "heft" and people are thinking it's slow aiming. I played the demo over and over savoring the little details in the visuals. Particle fountains from shooting metal surfaces...a real 3d gun model where using iron sights and strafing left and right causes the sights to sway left and right (at the front and rear of the gun) separately...bullets that look like they "count". The audio is also spectacular and makes me wonder how much better it would be with a 7.1 system (from the dev interview video that was translated).

The first play through I thought it was way too easy because I was careful and stayed in cover. The second time through I nearly died twice trying to be Rambo and rushing every objective. The AI is smart, they will sneak up on you if you camp too long, and they love to flank and get behind you. They play like real players would in an MP match, which will make bot matches a ton of fun. The AI will also get distracted by squad members which is refreshing since not every single enemy only aims at you (like lots of games do). Squad members also seem like they're worthwhile to keep alive, even if you have to risk your life to save them, because they're USEFUL. It's almost a first.

Ok, fan mode disengaged, back to patiently waiting for the 27th.

I'm loving the demo, standard controls and everything, I fail to see why you would get a NEW game and tweak the options till it feels like an old game???! Each to their own i suppose.

I cannot wait to get going online - I have read that the cover mechanic wasn't on the online beta, I really hope it's going to be in the proper online game.

I've got mine pre-ordered from play.com and fingers crossed it'll arrive the day before release.

To play online...People are gonna map their controls to a COD style because its faster....Me personally Im not. KZ controls are solid, could be better but I'll live with them...

Fingers crossed for cover in the online full release.

Cover will not be in MP. They say that it 'limits vision'...I feel that is wrong the player is responsible for their own self awareness. And cover improves it by having you more protected and able to make better tactical decisions in a orthodox manner...That is my opinion anyway...

But tell my my friends why Killzone 2 don't have custom controller setting? I'm left handed person who in COD4 plays with lefty control scheme and for me all KZ2 alternatives are fu#$% uncomfortable. I'm sure that I'm no alone! I hope that Guerilla give us some patch or something. If this shooter want to be perfect, so let it be perfect in all acpects (vide. settings). Hail to all - HERETJC
