Before watching the video we've posted after the jump which depicts Dead Rising: Chop Til' You Drop's version of the memorable "maintenance tunnel" sequence, we suggest strapping on your strongest pair of UV-protective eyewear. If you possess no such ocular shielding, here's a helpful site that can show you how to make one of those pinhole projector boxes you can use to view solar eclipses. It may be a bit too much artsy and craftsy trouble for you to go through for just one video, but we feel it's a necessary precaution.
We knew Capcom was going to be making a few cutbacks in order to make Dead Rising: CTYD Wii-friendly, such as a reduction in the maximum number of on-screen zombies. We don't really care about that -- but if the final version of the game offends our senses of sight and sound (and yes, even taste) as the post-jump video has, well, that would be a noteworthy cause for concern.

Fantastic. I say more ports of games that Capcom can not seem to port to the GameCube. How about Lost Planet? Or RE5? Or SF4?
Seriously, this game looks horrid. It should never have been attempted let alone shown to the public.

Geeze, I meant to say Wii, but said GameCube instead. Understandable mistake I think. :D

Part of me thinks you said Gamecube on purpose just so you could make that follow-up post to exaggerate your point.

Egads. If I wanted this game that badly, I'd just buy a 360.
(Oh wait, I do have a 360 (now), so I just may pick up the game. The demo was hella fun.)

The problem here I think is that people are looking to kill zombies, not bowling pins.

This video really makes me want to puke. Seriously Capcom couldn't make the game pretty? Seriously Capcom couldn't put a large amount of zombies? Seriously Capcom COULDN'T MAKE THE ZOMBIES MOVE??? I don't give a crap about the game looking horrid or the amount of zombies, but making the zombies stay still like statues is inexcusable, even when your game is developed for the Atari 2600.

Sounds like you are from the Dawn of the Dead remake generation and expect zombies to run. In my day everyone knew that zombies stagger around slowly because of the rigor mortis. It's unrealistic to think zombies can run. In the end they'll get you by outnumbering you and that's science.

And if you think this is bad, the Atari 2600 version of this game is far worse!

I know the Wii is supposed to offer cheaper production costs than HD consoles, but common.. how about more than a week's pay going into this...>_>

But DAMNIT, Capcom, you're making it harder and harder for me to plunk down the money for it...

That's my thinking. Especially after hearing all the gripes about the original game. I figured maybe this would be their chance to make a less pretty, but more refined product. But instead of maple syrup it looks like we're getting Ho-Hos.

I'm disappointed in the quality of this game.
I might as well just buy a 360 and the original than this sad excuse for a port.

Dear CAPCOM,
invite the RE4 engine over for drinks. Then, take it out behind the shed and shoot it, Old Yeller style.
Sincerely,
Everyone who doesn't own a time machine and therefore is still living in the year 2009 and not back in 2005.

Looks pre-production to me. Look at the mouse pointer that comes in, and there is NO animation on the zombies, even a company like Capcom wouldn't let something like that slip. Not to worry! I'm still interested in how it's going to pan out as a full game.

That's ridiculous, it's like running over cardboard cutouts
I've seen what the wii is capable of, why haven't the developers?

CE1:Well we can't make it TOO good
CE2:What the fuck do you mean? It should be great!
CE1:That costs money! I need my money for hookers and angel dust
CE2:Well shizzle, when you say it like that, I need money for child support.
CE1:Ok so. . .Pitch idea's to me about cutting costs.
CE2:Five green polygons a screen that don't move.
CE1:You sir just got a promotion.
CE2:YESSSSSSS
~And that boys and girls is why dead rising on the Wii looks like this, because everyone at Capcom is a lazy whore mongering douche~

That has to be pre-production footage. It's like capcoms way of lowering our expectations for the real thing, which will still pale to the original but be better than this....
Right?.... right?

Okay. This game is called "Chop Til You Drop", yet the gameplay has been tweaked to emphasize using guns you only get one melee weapon? Not much chopping, I'd say. Plus, with the small number of onscreen zombies...I highly doubt anyone will be doing enough chopping to actually drop.
Weak.
Weak.

From the textureless pole things (whatever they are) the motionless zombies and deplorable physics/ death sequence I would say that this is probably still in very early development.

I can see why people want to believe this is an "early dev" video, but the fact is that this is the newest video off the Japanese website for the game: http://www.capcom.co.jp/deadrising_wii/system.html#movie
I really don't understand the thinking behind this game at all. Why not a brand new game with a zombie theme, what's wrong with that idea?

Wow, I'm completely impressed. The ammount of effort and clever programming it must have taken in order to make the RE4 engine produce something this terrible really is amazing. I mean, wasn't RE4 a launch title? Why were that game's physics, graphics and sound 1000X better than this? You'd have to dedicate your life to failure in order to produce something this bad on such a great engine. Like I said, wow.

I can understand the graphics not being able to stand up to the 360 version but this is just ridiculous, I so want to like this game. It's just gotta be a early build video, but why would Capcom post it on the Japanese dead rising website, the zombies aren't even skinned. Night of the living manniquens?
