Power Chord Academy opens Rock Band, Guitar Hero summer camp programs

Whether you like to play real instruments or rip it up on the plastic set, there's going to be a camp waiting for you this summer. Musical prodigies who specifically enjoy rhythm games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero: World Tour can join the teen-focused Power Chord Academy for their "GameROCKERS" program.

The three-day program allows musically-inclined gamers a chance to show off their original digital compositions, join competitions and win prizes. Also, if three days sounds too long, then there's always Power Chord's "iROCKER." It's basically a one-day version of the other program. Power Chord's website has details on dates and locations for those planning to make the trip out there.

I'm still not certain if the program is simply play Rock Band/Guitar Hero for a day (lame); or teaching kids to play actual instruments, building off their RB/GH experience (pretty cool).

My guess is that they're trying to bridge the gap, and at least getting gamers to compose music. Once you have composers, it's only a matter of time before they either learn 'classical' instruments, or at least compose electronic music.

Not really...people who were inspired by GH(me amongst them) already got their own guitars or at least are planning to.

People who'd be pathetic enough to go to such camp are the folk that are still playing the "Yeah well, I'm having fun playing a plastic guitar" camp.

Wouldn't this be just like 1 activity at a summer camp? Basing an entire summer camp around it seems like it would get old really fast.

Anyone with a little time can learn a simple riff like Blitzkreig Bop on real guitar, or any other song. This is stupid.

You can't really rock until you can play the entire Ramones discography whilst passed out from a B.A.C. of 9%.

I hope they teach that at rock camp.

I think parents send their kids to summer camp so that they don't spend all their time playing video games.

After trying out a real guitar, playing guitar hero makes me feel so retarded, or at least childish. At least imo

Finally! A place for pretty pre-teens to have banal, inoffensive fun and to play rock and roll music!

If only they had these sorts of things in the '60s. We could have stopped The Beatles, Hendrix, and The Who before they made all that good music.

God knows we need more Nickelodeon bands gracing their presence in my Rock Band Rock Store
