Call of Duty: World at War map pack coming in March
Following in the footsteps of the Call of Dutys before it, World at War will be getting a brand new multiplayer map pack in March on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. For an undisclosed price, you'll be able to add "Nightfire" (source of the above image), "Station," "Knee Deep" and "Verrückt (Zombie Asylum)" to your list of playgrounds. See full descriptions of them all, after the break.
We reckon this is good news for WaW fans, but bad news for our planet's reserves of WWII locations that haven't yet been turned into video game levels, a resource that's running cataclysmically low. Where's Al Gore when you really need him?

Nightfire
- In "Nightfire," players take to the streets of a war-ravaged Berlin with only the flames of the burning city to expose the enemy.
- "Station" offers a bombed out underground train station littered with hidden passageways and destroyed subway cars.
- "Knee Deep" takes place on the island of Peleliu in a once tranquil village turned chaotic Japanese command center.
- The fan favorite 4-player co-op Nazi Zombies Bonus Mode returns with "Verrückt," a terrifying Zombie asylum featuring more weapons, perks via the addition of Perks-a-Cola machines, electroshock defenses and the endless zombie horde.

The zombie level sounds pretty interesting, really. I wish it was an all Zombie pack.
riv3r @ Feb 10th 2009 3:28PM
I agree
multiplayer is good but generic
nazi zombie mode really separates cod5 from cod4
decapit8 @ Feb 10th 2009 12:42PM
people speculating/complaining about the price of maps incoming.
Matt @ Feb 10th 2009 12:59PM
Yep, there's always several that think for some reason it should be a hand-out. I'm sure it will be 800 MS points (aka $10.00), which I feel is an incredible value, but as a hardcore fan I'd fork our 1600 points without even blinking.
Fafhrdd @ Feb 10th 2009 1:08PM
If it does not come with achievements I will not be buying it :)
acme @ Feb 10th 2009 1:27PM
It will be free for pc, so i don't really care what it will come out to.
holmes @ Feb 10th 2009 2:23PM
why would it have achievements? i might be wrong, but i don't think you can get any gamer points in multiplayer levels. you can only complete challenges to earn more XP.
Heavytoka @ Feb 10th 2009 12:39PM
By March I will be way too busy with Killzone 2's Multiplayer
The Fuzz 53 @ Feb 10th 2009 1:24PM
May God have mercy on your soul if it's anything like the first killzone.
Fanboy @ Feb 10th 2009 3:41PM
my thoughts exactly
G-Anderton @ Feb 10th 2009 5:07PM
The first killzone was fine. I still play it, it's honestly one of the three good console fps' to have ever existed. Not including ones that are multiplat on the pc (pc ftw).
-.- @ Feb 10th 2009 12:41PM

I find your comments very humorous because I am a funny man.
MAB! @ Feb 10th 2009 12:42PM
Sweet! Can't wait to spend countless hours battling hordes of zombies!
The Alex @ Feb 10th 2009 12:43PM
Looks good! Should be a day one purchase for me, I enjoyed the COD4 DLC a bunch, so this should be no different.
I would have liked to see them add the "daytime" version of Makin to this pack (as a fifth map), just cause the PC version is getting it, and it can't be that hard for them to throw it in as a bonus. Aside from that, this pack should be good. Great to see them adding a Nazi Zombie level!
slycooper_rocker (The Agent of Orange) @ Feb 10th 2009 5:40PM
this time, the maps sound good unlike the cod4 map pack which most people skipped whenever it came up.
The Alex @ Feb 10th 2009 11:20PM
Nah, I rarely saw people skip Broadcast or Chinatown. Creek wasn't that good in my opinion, mostly because I'm no good at sniping and that's a sniping map.
The biggest disappointment in that map pack (for COD4) was the small "training" map they included that wasn't added to many (if any) playlists, it was too small for any team based games. I think I've only played on it a couple of times with some friends. It's ashame they didn't make it about twice/three times the size to at least accommodate some team matches.
sn0cap2k4 @ Feb 26th 2009 12:52PM
Chinatown was amazing. Glad they brought that back from COD2 (it was Carentan). Probably the best map out of the entire COD series.
JCFG @ Feb 10th 2009 12:53PM
Can I haz some achievements with these maps? Or are those sold separately?
Doc @ Feb 10th 2009 12:55PM
Although I like the new twists on the zombie mode, I'd rather have a new map to play MP with.
slycooper_rocker (The Agent of Orange) @ Feb 10th 2009 5:41PM
well they're selling you one and throwing 2 in as a bonus. :)
sambob117 @ Feb 10th 2009 12:55PM
hopefully my roommate picks this up, cuz I'll be too busy spending money on halo wars
amart @ Feb 10th 2009 4:53PM
why is the downranked... makes sense..
C-Onor @ Feb 10th 2009 1:01PM
Woo can't wait to get them. I just hope they don't cost as much as the cod4 pack.
Jonathan @ Feb 10th 2009 1:03PM
Damn. I just got my first RROD on Saturday. I hope I get my console back before this drops.
Jester41K @ Feb 10th 2009 2:32PM
Microsoft seems to have gotten pretty surgical with replacing them. Last time mine RRODed, i got it back within 10 days.

Sitting next to the WW2 reserves are the following just as low ones...
1 - Alien invasion
2 - Post apocalyptic
3 - Modern war setting
4 - Future war setting
5 - Alien planet setting
5 - Some combination of all the above.
Anyways. I'll be buying those eventually.
slycooper_rocker (The Agent of Orange) @ Feb 10th 2009 10:27PM
the modern war setting is the least used out of all of those i'm sure.
The Fuzz 53 @ Feb 10th 2009 1:23PM
Best of luck to the guy playing in that picture. Shotguns in this game are utterly useless.
greg @ Feb 10th 2009 1:31PM
the double barrol is deadly in close corters. I like to use it in that small map (can't remember the name off the top of my head).
xxmongrelxx @ Feb 10th 2009 1:37PM
haha sawed off shottys are the worst guns in the game
Superevil @ Feb 10th 2009 3:00PM
I beg to differ. I use the shotgun (with SoH) all the time on Dome. The sawed off isn't too bad in Nazi Zombies either
Johnny Neat @ Feb 10th 2009 1:39PM
Here's hoping the HUGE update that we have been waiting, praying and complaining about, and this game needs, is dropped before the new maps arrive. Like how about some Valentine LOVE with a huge update/overhaul this weekend?
Love the game but I can't stand the new walking on clouds or hovering above map glitches (They think they are so good, don't they?), map exploiting spawn rifle grenades in Hardcore Search & Destroy or any game type really, free firing or just plain old any bullet can cross maps like sniper fire (Wow, way to give people exploiting abilities), perks that don't counter balance or are just out of whack (Stopping Power can't kill Juggernaut or Second Chance has a limited god mode, really?) and the horrible game spawning system (Oh hey the enemy just spawned on top of where I am or I've spawned under an artillery strike, AWESOME.) and last but not least armor protected monster dogs (nuff said).
sunkcontrol @ Feb 10th 2009 1:47PM
new reader ..testing 1 2 .. Where do you get all the time .. all them posts ..Great site!
JAH75157 @ Feb 10th 2009 1:51PM
people are still playing this?
greg @ Feb 10th 2009 2:00PM
the guys floating above the map are fun cause they are easy targets, they have no cover so it's easy pickins and yet they continue to go up there and i just camp and shoot them every time they float up:) You'd think they would stop trying it after you kill them 3-4 time in a row:)
Johnny Neat @ Feb 10th 2009 2:03PM
You can't shoot people above maps in the sky, only those that hover over landmarks and properties but not those in the sky.
holmes @ Feb 10th 2009 2:12PM
i'm really happy about the news about this map pack. i'm new to the COD series and i absolutely love W@W. after playing multiplayer constantly, i was itching for more levels so i finally grabbed COD4 and have been playing the multiplayer levels on that. glad to see we're getting more new levels. hopefully they'll include one more map pack in addition to this new one before the next installment comes out later this year.
kentuckyfried @ Feb 10th 2009 3:31PM
One of the developer interviews mentioned 2 map packs....
Unfortunately, they also said they were going to offer more incentives for prestiging (perks, weapons, etc), but that never materialized, so I wouldn't hold my breath.
Jester41K @ Feb 10th 2009 2:29PM
Don't care unless they FIX THE F*CKING GLITCHES. Am I the only one the despises people that glitch? You know what I would find cool? Looking at the Zombie leaderboards and seeing the Top Rounders having gotten there legitimately.
Baby J Penn (PSN johnnynumber5) @ Feb 10th 2009 2:37PM
I'm not a big fan of Call Of Duty multiplayer at all. I'll be trading in or selling World At War for credit towards Killzone 2. It's just to run and gun for my tastes and similar to Gears Of War 1 & 2 all the glitchers and cheaters ruin what little chance I did have of enjoying the multiplayer. The campaign was OK but not as good as COD MW and the only redeaming quality about the multiplayer was the Nazi Zombie mode IMO. I'm not a COD hater but I just can't get into to the competitive multiplayer in the least bit. I prefer to play what I consider to be better multiplayer experiences in Battlefied Bad Company, SOCOM Confrontation, Far Cry 2 & Resistance 2. Different strokes for different folks I presume and if you like WAW then I'm happy for you but it wasn't my cup of tea.
Before anyone flames me I'm talking SOCOM Confrontation post launch patch which is a completely different experience than when the game launched. My go to #1 multiplayer experience is still Battlefield Bad Company with it's large maps, balanced weapons, great game modes and array of vehicles.
kentuckyfried @ Feb 10th 2009 3:33PM
Bad Company is underappreciated. It's too bad that if a game has some problems coming out the gate (Socom, BF:BC), people just drop it like a rock in this generation of systems and move on.
Miyabroto @ Feb 10th 2009 4:29PM
I agree about Bad Company. Pretty underrated game. The MP is awesome, and the DLC, while slim, is free. Can't beat that. Looking forward to that BF:1943 update on XBLA.
The Fuzz 53 @ Feb 10th 2009 4:47PM
The problem with BF:BC was that you could Buy (as in with real $) weapons to use in Multiplayer. That turned a lot of people off; myself included.
tmontana213 @ Feb 10th 2009 3:29PM
Map packs!!!!!!!
