Yes, it's a Playstation 3 publication; but Dante's Inferno is multiplatform..therefore, this article is still relevant to X360 owners.

What does this have to do with Dante's Inferno other than being set in Hell? I don't remember any fighting at all in the divine comedy actually, except some of the denizens of Hell fighting each other..

The only way I could see this becoming a worthwhile IP is if they follow it up with Dante's Purgatorio which is purposefully extremely unpleasant to play, but you have to beat it in order to play the next sequel, Dante's Paradiso in which you get to fight God.

Exactly that. The protagonist in the book was basically a passer by. a watcher, a man taking a guided tour.

Next thing you know they'll release historical figures brawl: Pythagoras vs Socrates or something...

I guess this is assuming you actually play AS that same protagonist. Has that ever been stated one way or another? I'm not sure.

Good point Tony. Still I think they're just using that name for the free publicity. it's like ignignokt said, they could make any game with the name of a different book even if it's not directly related to the source material.

Since this is being developed by the Dead Space team, Dante's Inferno is extremely tempting to check it out upon release. Those guys really seem to love gaming and are passionate about their projects.

GoWIII is due for the begining of 2010, so I guess this'll give us our fill of GoW-esque gameplay in 2009.

Also, the gameplay is completely different, despite both being hack'n'slash games.

From this point on I will try to treat Dante's Inferno: The Game, as if it never existed.

I read in XBoxOfficialBalls720 magazine that it's actually more like Toe Jam & Earl crossed with World of Goo. Word is Abraham Lincoln is writing a screenplay based on the game based on the play of the same name starring Vin Diesel and Rosie O'Donnell.

I wouldn't have a problem with the Iliad or The Odyssey being made into video games, because at least those involved fighting (although from what I remember, not a whole lot). The Anead would make a super badass game though.

Also, as odd as it may seem, I wouldn't be surprised if I saw Vin and Rosie in a movie (might actually make a good pair. Super masculine dude and somewhat butch lesbian). They both have reached Jimmy Fallon and Queen Latifa status for me...

I'd like to know: Does anyone actually enjoy QTE? meaning, does anyone feel it does anything to add to the gameplay experience?

Personally, I find it keeps you from looking at the purdy game while watching the bottom of the screen for the next button press. If there was a way to integrate that into the action/scenery more, then it wouldnt have to draw the eye away from the beautiful game itself?

I agree. I find myself staring at where the next button press will be, not at the action itself.

I like the way Heavy Rain incorporates it into its action scenes, though. The button presses appear where they'll be relevent (so it'll appear on top of a vase you can pick up to hit the bad guy with, for example), not just in the centre of the screen.

Well, if nothing else, it should have interesting visuals. What's not to like about boiling rivers of blood, people being literally buried in shit, whippings by demons, immolation, and Satan chewing on three different people with three different mouths?

I fail to see where the "beat the hell out of something" gameplay is derived, though.

They should have just called it "Demon's Hell" or something generic like that. Why name it after Dante's Inferno? Has absolutely nothing to do with the book apparently.

It is going to be a minigame collection of you being able to participate in the tortures, while an Italian man stares at you and ponders what is going on. "Shakes Wiimote performing the Harpy eating suicide tree moves"
