Finally: Snoop Dogg is rolling onto Rock Band
With so much content in Rock Band D-L-C, it's kinda hard finding Snoop D-O-double-G. But according to a release from MTV, that's about to become a lot easier as the Doggfather brings his trademark flow to MTV's music game (alongside a few other ventures with the music giant).
We love Snoop Dogg's music as much as the three-time winners of the "Least Urban Blogging Team" award can, but is this really a good fit for Rock Band? Do you commenters have any suggestions for Snoop tracks that you'd want to rock to? And will you be singing the censored on-screen version or spitting the original, raunchy fire?

Hahaha oh wow. At least this shitstorm is going to be fun to watch.
oolz @ Feb 10th 2009 4:05PM
Who cares if it's not rock. Some of old stuff are rap classics that will be party hits. I'm laughing right now at the images of 30 something white folk breaking off Snoop hits!
I will say it will be interesting to see how, instrumentally, they make this work.
Eric @ Feb 10th 2009 3:30PM
HAHAHAHAHA I don't really care for rap, but i still find this awesome.
McWeen @ Feb 10th 2009 3:31PM
The Doggfather isn't exactly a rock act. This will be a must buy for me.
McWeen @ Feb 10th 2009 3:32PM
My fiance hates Snoop Dogg but I'll teach her to like it.

Rock Band G's Up, Guitar Hero Ho's down
Lord Negatron @ Feb 10th 2009 3:37PM
No good. So the guitar will be used for?? I also foresee records being shattered globally....daily.
"Rolling down the street smoking iiindo! Sippiin' on"...(Vocals 100% +bonus!!!!)
Drums (100% +bonus!!)
Bass (see above)
Guitar *plugged out*
jorojoserojas @ Feb 10th 2009 3:51PM
I wasn't excited about this until you busted out the singing. Now I can't wait!
mirage @ Feb 10th 2009 4:16PM
Actually, Snoop's more recent stuff has really shifted towards funkadelic. There would be plenty to do on the guitars and bass as well. When you hit a section of the song that doesn't need either the bass or guitar, you can use them to choke a bitch (if you have the wired guitar) or simply keep em' in check. Plenty of uses indeed. ; )
PSN: Aggie_CEO @ Feb 10th 2009 4:18PM
half of his early stuff produced by Dre uses the guitar ya know
Lord Negatron @ Feb 10th 2009 4:53PM
I know i know, i tried to make a funny and it blew up in my face...
Now raise up off my N-U-Tz, cuz you gets none o' these...
;)

I want Country back!
xGeneral DEATHx @ Feb 10th 2009 5:09PM
You did that just to get voted down, didn't you?
Discotheque @ Feb 10th 2009 3:39PM
LOL I have nothing against it. I'll probably buy it. There's been worse.
j.howlett @ Feb 10th 2009 3:41PM
he has that song with willie nelson, and i knew a couple people back in school who played snoop songs on guitar
Michael T @ Feb 10th 2009 3:41PM
Wait, what?
Seriously? Well, my Vocals career just got to be even more fun.
Can we safely assume that it's going to be a collection of re-recordings?
Baby J Penn (PSN johnnynumber5) @ Feb 10th 2009 3:43PM
Most of Dr.Dre's produced tracks have older jazz and funk roots so they might translate well to instruments.
Anyway not to get to out of line here but that girl on the right has quite the backside. Yowza. Snoop is just showing his one handed Live technique where he can lose but still be the winner.
PSN: Aggie_CEO @ Feb 10th 2009 4:10PM
thats what I'm saying. a LOT of his stuff has guitar in it
Baby J Penn (PSN johnnynumber5) @ Feb 10th 2009 4:22PM
guitar and heavy bass riffs. We all know rap music has drums otherwise there wouldn't be a beat.
PSN: Aggie_CEO @ Feb 10th 2009 4:41PM
not all rap music has drums, lol
Lord Negatron @ Feb 10th 2009 5:03PM
Oh come now baby J, i know you, and you ONLY listen to gangsta shit!
When you toke on your bomb ass dank of which gives you the creativity and energy to write your "compositions", guitars and funkadelic are the last thing on your menu. Word on the street is your nickname Johnny#5 comes from the fact your eyes are always red, and always pack steel.
:)

Ha Ha Negatron ...
Nah man it comes from Short Circuit which was is my favorite movie of all time. I used to listen to a lot of rap music when I was in high school but now I only have a select few hip hop artist that I can tolerate. It's really only Immortal Technique, Diabolic and classic Eminem.
Immortal Technique (best lyricist and most socially relevant artist evar!)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgmDAdGASuo
Albums: Revolutionary volume 1 & 2 as well as The 3rd World Mixtape
Immortal Technique Featuring Diabolic (disgusting)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imNXJItVQ2M
New Eminem actually sounds promising. The flow is there hopefully so is content.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHfe22sClHs
I think I like Eminem because I remember when he was good.
Anyway ....
Lord Negatron @ Feb 10th 2009 10:57PM
*Gasp!*
Talk about a slap in the face! (jk) , i mean, i have only seen EVERY Short Circuit made.
LOL Im only 29 man, and was partially raised by TV and movies, as many 80's babies were, well um at least the cool ones :P
Weird Science,
Ferris Buellers Day Off..
All the Pee Wee Herman flicks,(First was the best IMO)
Labrynth
Willow
Mac and Me
War Games (with Matthew Broderick)
American Ninja 1 2 3 (LOL!) Micheal Dudikoff pwn Norris
*threatens*
I can go on you know lol but i will spare Joystiq random flick titles from the younger days.
Deaddy @ Feb 10th 2009 3:46PM
This is cool. I support different kinds of genres making their way into RB, I probably won't purchase any Snoop though.
How do I set up Joystiq so I don't have to enter my email and password for every post?
deaftly @ Feb 10th 2009 3:48PM
Get a browser that saves passwords... ie firefox or every fucking browser out now.
Deaddy @ Feb 10th 2009 3:50PM
I'm using one, I don't have this problem on any other sites.
Neuromancer @ Feb 10th 2009 3:54PM
Maybe you have it set to delete cookies or something on exit. Or erase form data.
Deaddy @ Feb 10th 2009 3:58PM
I just checked, I don't have anything like that enabled. When I normally browse the site, both fields are always blank. When they email me that someone responded to my comment, and I click the link, it will fill in the email but not password.
lasersanchez @ Feb 10th 2009 4:04PM
Erase your saved password for Joystiq and try again.
Also, if you quick registered they sent you a different password that isn't the one you probably wanted. It should be in all of your "verify comment" emails.
Deaddy @ Feb 10th 2009 4:13PM
I use the password from those confirmation emails, I just have to enter it every time I want to make a post. There is no password saved, so there's nothing to erase. It always defaults to the "Returning" tab down at the bottom of the page instead of "New Readers," and so I enter my email and password every time, and I check the "Remember me" box, and that's just how it goes. Both fields are always completely blank.
lasersanchez @ Feb 10th 2009 4:14PM
Switch to Firefox or Chrome.
Deaddy @ Feb 10th 2009 4:23PM
I use Firefox, haven't used anything else for years.
Deaddy @ Feb 10th 2009 4:28PM
Test, sorry for doing this. Testing my browser. I think i figured it out.
Deaddy @ Feb 10th 2009 4:29PM
Sorry. Trying again.
Deaddy @ Feb 10th 2009 4:30PM
I think it's a problem with Firefox. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll try to figure it out, Firefox just won't remember the password for some reason. Sorry for spamming, didn't know of another way to test.
DeoWulf @ Feb 10th 2009 4:58PM
Firefox never remembers my passwords. I use the LastPass plugin. It will fill everything for you. Also, you can set it to automatically log you into sites.
Deaddy @ Feb 10th 2009 5:01PM
I just changed a setting in my password manager (Roboform) and Joystiq works now. I don't understand why Firefox wasn't doing it, it had about 8 sites listed in its own manager. I definitely log in to more than 8 sites on a regular basis. Thanks for the various advice, dudes. Appreciate it.
BlaqueBeird @ Feb 10th 2009 6:28PM
I use Opera, and it's marvellous. It does everything but cook me breakfast, but I hope they release a patch for that.
Lennoko @ Feb 10th 2009 7:53PM
OR click on your name, go to Account settings and change your password, :D
Deaddy @ Feb 10th 2009 10:04PM
Changing my password would have had no effect on the problem.
deaftly @ Feb 10th 2009 3:47PM
The entire Doggystyle album would be flat out amazing. I saw snoop with 311 last summer, i do have to say he is the fucking man.
Brett from Atlanta @ Feb 10th 2009 8:51PM
Yeah I saw him with the Chili Peppers a few years back and he doesn't disappoint thats for sure. For a "Party", no excuse me, for a more fun when drunk game like Rock Band, this is a perfect fit. His stuff would be really fun and a great way to break up those long set lists when playing with friends.
lasersanchez @ Feb 10th 2009 3:49PM
I nominate The Gourds' cover of Gin n Juice, and maybe a rock remix of Wake Up. Maybe Sensual Seduction will round out the dl pack.
topbillin85 @ Feb 10th 2009 3:50PM
snoop has alot of different sounding songs that would be great for rock band. he's not your average rapper.
False @ Feb 10th 2009 3:52PM
What the hell? Did someone see GH add Flo-Rida to the DLC lineup and think adding rap to RB just HAD to happen? Do either of these games think the addition of rap to a ROCK RHYTHM GAME is going to light the world on fire?
This is such a bad idea. No way I'm climbing aboard this train.
aj @ Feb 10th 2009 3:55PM
Well, the "rhythm" part is certainly easy enough to rationalize.
The "rock" part just comes from the title of the game. There are a lot of genres present in Rock Band. Why not throw in a genre that is all about the groove?
lasersanchez @ Feb 10th 2009 4:02PM
Gah! The company's desire to add optional content to a game and possibly make money and other people happy is ruining my enjoyment of the game!
