No that's only for free content. Paid Content is available at the same time for Gold and Silver alike.

I can't even really remember the last time I was on live (save for getting RB2 DLC) and I believe I still have a paid account. $5 a month isn't a big deal.

my flawed theory is this: if the game is free to play online i will buy it (like playstation 3 games)

if i have to pay to play the game online, like xbox360, i'm not going to pay for the game twice.

It is well documented that during the worst period of the Great Depression, there were actually zero paid annual subscribers to XBox Live.

So, if the economy keeps tanking, I expect us to get very close to zero again. We will only play online during designated "Game With Developer" weekends, after we have finished eating squirrel-in-a-can for dinner.

I look at it as paying $5 a month to avoid playing on PSN.

I wouldn't mind paying $5/mo for better Internet play, but xeno, this game is playable online for free.

Don't kid yourself, spanky. You assuredly aren't "too busy" to have a permanent Live Gold account. You may be too discretionary with your spending, too cheap or even too lazy to have one, but being too busy has nothing to do with it.

well i feel like im too busy to pay for one (along with some personal network issues). i go to college and work and both take just about all my time. i typically cruise this blog when im at school between classes or on break at work on my phone. the idea of paying for something i may not get a chance to use is always frightening for me. dont get me wrong, i think Live is a great service but the PSN service is top notch as well and is perfect for those occasions when i do get to sit down and play a game online. it's true that $3.85 a month is not alot of money, but it's still money that could be spent elsewhere if i subscribe and then dont use it (like my last gym membership).

If you are one to work and take your eduction seriously, then video games take the furthest spot in the backseat. My cousin off at college who has the sold(actually given away) Ps3 doesn't use it much at all. Not because he dislikes it or prefers another console. He doesn't have time. He could make time, yes, but rather spend it womanizing, or hanging with friends when not studying. For defense forces, if it were the Wii/ Xbox the scenario would stay same.

Whoa...why all the negatives. I don't own an xbox, and I thought that Gold accounts were like those of us on the PS3 who have Qore subscritiptions and got premium content. Sorry for making so many people angry.

I'm not angry--just posting a site with all the answers for XBL--didn't have alot of time to write a response.

Silver membership (free for everyone) allows you access to content although it tends to be offered a week or 2 later than Gold members, unless it's premium content. no multiplayer games can be played online for Silver. Gold allows you to play multiplayer online and extra free content available earlier.

Sony makes Qore optional but I dl'd the one free episode they offered in dec/jan and didn't care for it--so I don't pay for Qore although I wouldn't've minded the Beta for that one popular game that escapes my mind from Nov/Dec. besides, I can read all that info they offer faster than they can talk on Qore. ; )

THERE IS NO RETAIL RELEASE.

The 'Retail' copy is just a code that allows you to download it. also comes with a poster and a case. There is no disk.

in my opinion of course... i liked it i didnt get one glitch in the game

people just wasnt used to dying alot in a game based on glitches i mean in most games they play they have checkpoints and such and there bassically hand held throughout the game...

Sonic 2006 did indeed suck due to trashy level design, bugs (anecdotal doesn't help ya), pretty meh visuals at times, and the worst story to have ever hit a video game in history

Ah, Jeff i am not going to try keep ribbing you, actually i have to respect you and many others perspectives on, paying for online gaming. It should be free which would be nice. I enjoy it, and when gaming online, i have never heard any issues in regards to pricing. 1. That would be out of place and open the flood gates for slurs of all kind during a casual (Uno) or competitive match (FPS of choice). While staying away from the "its better than the Wii or Ps3 zone". I must say there is a reason as to why they charge. There are many, i repeat, many, acute details that incorporated into the navigation, interface, of XBL.

Not to assume you are a Ps3 only user, i have not been on PSN in quite some time. So my question is trivial. Can you preview a video/game via "streaming" without having t DL it a demo/trailer?

Browsing my friends list, i notice one was playing Street Fighter 2HD, clicking easy to navigate links there was one for "preview game". That led to a quickly streamed video of the game in play to the Karate Kid theme song, "Your the Best". Crazy.
(Doesn't work for most games in which you have to DL the demo, to "see" it.)

But then again, you've already proven you aren't that smart by asking a stupid question like "would you spend $100 on a game that lasts 2 years". Considering I haven't found a $60 game on any system that lasts 1/8th of that time, that would be a great bargin and you would have to be a moron to pass it up.
