Revel in OXM's Brutal Legend cover story
How's this for objectivity? We love every scrap of Brütal Legend we've ever seen and when it comes out it's going to be so good and we're going to love it so much that we can't think about it too long or our hearts start to hurt a little. Keeping all that in mind, it should come as no surprise that we didn't just read the OXM cover story on the game that's finally online. We bathed in it, letting its digital ink and virtual pages seep into our every eye pore. Could you have read most (or all of this) in the magazine? Sure. But not everyone's a subscriber and besides, it's been more than a month since we've had to go searching for our umlaut key, so there.
And hey, imagine your delight at discovering even small details like the name for Eddie's massive, literal axe (The Separator) and his metaphorical axe (Clementine). Will those of you who haven't read the print version of this story find even more delectable details? Read on, friends, and find out!

Or else I'll suddenly not want to play it anymore! YEAH!!!
Hyams @ Feb 10th 2009 4:41PM
Well, according to EA it's coming Q3 2009. Pretty sure they mean their third *financial* quarter, which is the fourth calendar quarter.
So: it'll be coming in Oct/Nov/Dec time, this year.
Averna @ Feb 10th 2009 6:37PM
Same, it was looking nice, although I havent seem much on it lately.
On a side note... does the dude in the image look like the drummer from GH:WT... or is that just me?

Did I mention this game gives me "teh awesomes"? I can feel the hair raising on my back from the sheer excitement.
Just rewatched the teaser trailer...he has a big ass axe...and is voiced by Jack Black...in a universe where Heavy Metal is God...and the soundtrack, sweet Ozzy, the soundtrack?
I'd buy it if only for the sountrack!
TheBigOAnime @ Feb 10th 2009 5:14PM
YAWN...so boring. The hype for this game isn't even justified in the slightest as opposed to KZ2 which the sony fanboys were hoping (with good reason) would be good.
This game has yet to prove that it has anything spectacular to it other than Jack Black and even that's stretching it.
Umm blood and guts. Rock music. Violence? I think we've seen these themes before in action/adventure games.

Two words..... Tim Schafer

Two words (to OP): You dumbass

@ inchworm
Prove me wrong then? What exactly makes this title worthy of any attention or supposedly is so great that it has you cumming in your pants?
Sorry but I've watched the trailers. I saw the vid they showed at the VGAs. Nothing about that was even remotely interesting to me.
Even Jack Black trying to inject humor into it fell flat. I'm sorry but I just don't see it....insulting me isn't going to make me see it. Nor does it prove anything regarding the so called "love" and "delight" that Justin claims he experiences when he hears anything about this title.
So I ask Justin and ask you what exactly are you getting all excited about and why should I?
I honestly want to know...

Read the comment above InchWorm, and then go play Psychonauts, or a good Lucas Arts adventure game.

I'm waiting for this guy to say "holier-than-thou" to confirm my suspicions...

"I'm waiting for this guy to say "holier-than-thou" to confirm my suspicions..."
Really? I'm betting on Bowser considering the disdain for "blood and guts."
Anyone else want to make a bet?
slycooper_rocker (The Agent of Orange) @ Feb 10th 2009 10:21PM
fred for $4. levi, no way its vesper. he said our killzone hype was justified. "which the sony fanboys were hoping (with good reason) would be good."
vesper would die before saying that.
Discotheque @ Feb 10th 2009 7:06PM
I'm not a Jack Black fan but the name Tim Schafer instantly got me to pay attention. I can't wait for this to come out.
spacemonkey @ Feb 10th 2009 8:14PM

when i saw the pic i thought guitar hero was going for a 3rd person game
Courtney @ Feb 10th 2009 10:51PM
After this was announced, I've started working my way back through some Schafer classics. Replayed some Psychonauts, currently working on Grim Fandango and Day of the Tentacle. I really want to track down a copy of Full Throttle, as I missed it the first time around.
Schafer just brings an enthusiasm and love to his creations that make them hard not to like. Grim Fandango still holds up great today, the script and voice acting is equal to anything released last year. So yeah, I'm a Schafer fanboy and proud of it.
JonesBones270 @ Feb 10th 2009 11:45PM
I'd like to point out that Kung Fu Panda was one of the best films I saw last year, animated or not. If not best, then at least most amusing.
spacemonkey @ Feb 11th 2009 8:30AM
well it's 5:30 Am and i can't sleep
...so i made some ps3 wallpapers
