Rumor: Kojima-related announcement 'closer to GDC'

In case you haven't heard, Hideo Kojima (the mind behind the Metal Gear Solid saga) will be breaking the habit of a lifetime and giving a keynote speech at GDC next month. There may be a little more to it than just talking about his latest blockbuster, Metal Gear Solid 4. VG247 is reporting that Konami says it will be "making some announcements closer to GDC," but that it has to "keep things tight-lipped for now."

Any Kojima-related announcements are obviously big news and we know that he's currently working on two projects. The fact that he is keynoting bodes well and, with GDC less than two months away, we're bound to hear something soon.

I rarely play games that don't involve much action, but Snatcher had me hooked. I'd welcome a new one, whatever direction he would take with it.

Kojima is amazing. He is truly passionate about his games and isn't the type to just shell out garbage for a quick buck. I'm excited about his announcement, but I also hope whatever he has to say will inspire or motivate other developers.

I honestly think he's just taking on the challenge, and he's an apple fanboy. I don't think he'll want to create shovelware and turn ppl off from the series or his favorite brand of electronics.

aslong as he makes some more PS3 exclusives :P

I think he's going to announce something for the 360.

its very likely Kojima wants to make the best games, with the best technology, and you know he's gonna want to stuff up another Blu-Ray! But I wouldnt care aslong as its a good game.

Well, his new games might not be *PS3* exclusive, but they're probably both exclusive to something.

Kojima likes to pump as much as he can out of his games, and that can best be done with exclusives. I know he's said he's interested in making games for the 360 and Wii, so perhaps his next games will be exclusive to one (or both) of them.

Agreed. Im growing very tired of all these sequels, as good as they may be. Nothing excites me in this industry as much as a really fresh new IP.

But what am I saying, I'm wearing a MGS shirt right now and will buy anything this man stamps his name on.

All my hopes are on a Wii game too. I would kill 50 kittens to get a MGS-esque game tailored to the Wii with legitimate online multiplayer without friend codes with voice chat.

MGS5 announced for 2010 would be awesome. Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy in the same year ... that'd be amazing.

Just got u got your jollies off that movie with some stealth gameplay elements with a ridiculously confusing and ultimately pointless plot doesn't mean everyone did.

MGS4 wasn't a masterpiece in any sense of the word in my view. Other than the graphical achievement it made and the interesting psychotic villains that Snake faced I didn't see anything that truly made it that special.

opinions of a game is one thing but calling it flat out a "shit game" now that just shows your judgement of knowing what really is a good game or not. Then again you must be another mindless fanboy which is most likely.

Zone of Enders 3 Plz... Make it multiplat. As much as I love my PS3 exclusives, we need more multiplatform games from great developers.
