"Koller said that the first such BD offerings will hit the market during 2009."

It's in the Joystiq summary! Granted the source link says "could launch" but still... don't get all bent out of shape.

I don't think he is, look at his post history. He's about as big a Wii fanboy as can be and for some reason seems to have it out for the 360.

Holy shit, xbots say "year of the PS3" about a billion times more than I've ever heard a Playstation fan say it. I seriously don't remember the last time I've heard a "Sony fanboy" say that, yet every single time there's a flame bait post, another xbot comes out and says "oh yeah, bet this is gonna be the year of the PS3, right fanboys? Just like last year?"

interesting idea, but movie tie in games sell well when the movie releases in theatres.. i don't think spider man or transformers did that well when it came home. unless they can swing something there or throw in the movie for free, they may not do much.

The F1 1997 game included a DVD of the official FIA F1 review for 96, dunno where that rates with the other examples, and it was a seperate disk. Im assuming they're saying this would be done for something like Transformers 2, with the game and Blu-Ray being released on the same disc.

Now, if they include it free, no added charge, then that nice, but i dont see it happening myself. Not when theres money to be made selling the game and the film as seperate products.
It sounds more like a Special Edition to me, Game release & Cinema launch at the same time, then 6 months later the film comes out to buy, and up pops a new Spec-Ed of the game with the film on there, except instead of it being the 6 month old game price, its full retail cos its got the film in there.

Do you mean like with Stranglehold did with Hard Boiled? (movie on disc, but accessed in-game with a shitty interface)

Or do you mean something done RIGHT? (The disc icon appearing on both the Video and Game menus on the XMB.)

Okay, good why not produce this and fully utilize blu-ray. The PS3 is superior than 360 because of what blu-ray can allow developers to push onto a disk right? Anyhow, I can't wait for the flood of great games to come, top of the list... K2, SF4, & GOW3.

PSN: F4WMR

give me a add, lookin forward to great gaming in the future.

Why am I not surprised?
A PS3 fan gets downvoted for a PS3 post in a PS3 thread. And the highest-rated post is the "HURR MGS4" comment.

And they wonder why we've had enough of this shit.

@ Paragon

The PS3 is superior because of Bluray?

Don't make me laugh. Bluray is a disk format, nothing more. It doesn't render graphics, it doesn't calculate physics or AI, it has no effect on the game whatsoever. It just stores data.

If Bluray made the PS3 superior then why do games like GTA4 run in 720p with AA on the 360 but run in below HD resolutions with no AA on the PS3?

No no.. he was wrong. It's not Blu-ray that makes the PS3 superior. It's the sub 30% failure rate. Come on now.

Geez I setoff a firestorm of comments, I suppose I said what I did haphazardly. I was just simply commenting on PS3 being able to pack in much more content with blu-ray, and having read developers bicker about having to pull back on the scale of certain games so it is equal to the ps3 counterpart, the 360. It must be said, I am a huge nintendo fan, if you look at my profile you'll see a disproportionate amount of comments in the nintendo fan stuff, so don't give me this sony fanboy crap. I bought a ps3 just a few months ago and waited for the price drop and a few good titles, aside from halo, which is the fps world is a horrible game, at least to my standard... microsoft doesn't have much going for them. One reason I dislike them and EA so much is because they undercut the competition with buyouts. Fallout 3 is a classic example, there is no reason an add-on shouldn't come the ps3 way, but MS just has a way of creating separation in the gaming community by doing little stuff like this. Overtime I suppose the hope is all good gaming will live on the 360 or future MS console but how is that good for the gaming community? Competition is what drives it and I say na to a 360 for what they continual do.... soo ya, I forgot what the hell I was even responding to but it doesn't matter because my original post wasn't mean to be anything too serious

what AkaMagi says is true.. GTA (PS3) runs at 620p, with an install, without AA.. where the 360 version runs at 720p with 2x AA.. but, the PS3 version does run a bit better, being less intensive to run.. one thing I've seen, is getting the fast food restaurants before they've loaded, after I've been driving quite fast into that area, jumping out & running in.. another things things I've seen are barriers loading after I've thrown myself through a window.. the barriers on the highways either not being there, or extending 10 to 20 feet til the game engine catches up.. and all that is the 360 version, which my mate on the PS3 version says he's never seen

in all honesty, this would be an excellent way to tie in all those crappy movie-themed games.

Kung Fu Panda Blu-Ray movie plus Kung Fu Panda game bundled together in one case for $40.

My thoughts exactly, except I'm expecting them to charge somewhere closer to $80. Here's "their" argument: "THE GAME IS $60 AND THE MOVIE IS $35! IT'S LIKE YOU'RE SAVING $15!"

Although, if it's done right, I'd consider purchasing the pack anyway...

I think $60 is probably more reasonable since that's starting cost of most games at the moment. However if mildly amusing looking games + movie I might be buying anyway came on the same disc I would go for the game+movie at $60 over the DVD any day. In fact if that became a staple I would actually have a reason to get a PS3.

Fanboy disclaimer: I don't care about games X/Y/Z etc. comming out, I don't care how crazy great blu-ray is. I have a wii and a 360, they both have fun games, I don't need any PS3 exclusives. DVD's with a good upscaler look fine to my eyes, so I don't care about blu-ray. this is why PS3 isn't wtfpwning this generation. It may be good but it's not good enough to buy yet another system at it's cost if you've already got the basics covered. However, if it did something new and interesting, like save me money on movies+games and free network play (xbl costing a monthly fee is just stupid and wii doesn't really have very much more than the dreamcast did besides the store, which is just a way to spend money), AND all those fanboy drool inducing bullet points then I'm interested,

Disclaimer 2: this is my opinion and it's not wrong or right, it's an opinion. just like yours.

Well it all decides on how they implement it, if it's a hard disc copy of the movie separate from the game then sure why not but if i have to load up the game then go through extra menus to play a movie then that's too much of a hassle.

Wow, now we'll really see a bunch of bullshit low budget games launching with movies just for the sake of saying movie "comes with the game based off the movie!"

How many movie to game "ports" are actually worth paying 10 cents for anyway?
