The Force Unleashed spread thin sells 5.7m units
The Force Unleashed may have sold 5.7 million units worldwide, but let's take a look at the substance of that figure. Gamasutra notes that the global total is made up of all the various platforms the title was available on. The list includes all major consoles, handhelds, iPod Touch, iPhone, N-Gage (for realz?!) and other mobile devices.
Despite the varying quality of Force Unleashed on all platforms, the competent next-gen offerings were a hit right out of the space hanger. Although the gameplay may not have been stellar, the story certainly captured people's attention, as the title went on to recently win a Writers Guild award for game writing.

N-Gage sold the most I bet

I'm impressed. I'd be more impressed with the Force Unleashed as a game, though, if it had less magic shields that stunted my force powers.

strip away the star wars theme you got yourself a pretty mediocre ass game.
Alien Lord @ Feb 11th 2009 3:36PM
While I downloaded the demo, I haven't bought a copy as of yet, maybe when it's $20. I expect about 10 hours from FPSs but not action adventures.
Dirty @ Feb 11th 2009 3:36PM
Whatever, I liked it.
Ghen @ Feb 12th 2009 7:18AM
Same here. It wasn't jedi knight's swordplay, but it was still fun.
BxGT @ Feb 11th 2009 3:37PM
I still have not even finished it, also the gba version was the best.
FURTHYDURTH @ Feb 11th 2009 3:39PM
I believe it's spelled "hangar" actually

On the note about it winning a writer's guild award, it's worth nothing a lot of titles aren't eligible (or rather, those titles' writers), as only guild members are eligible. Still, it's a fun romp for a Star Wars game, and the plot is pretty good (barring subpar mainline acting).

I liked it. Got it for the PSP and I'm still playing it on and off. It also came bundled with my Wii, which is a lot better than some of the reviews made out.
joeybeast @ Feb 11th 2009 3:58PM
This game was never released on PC was it?
Haggard @ Feb 11th 2009 5:18PM
Nope, the reason given was that most PC's couldn't handle the incredible technical wowness of the engine. Which as excuses go is pretty crap, but I can't really judge since I've never developed a game. Valve and Crytek, however, say hello.

I actually thought this is the way a Star Wars game should feel. If they worked on improving a lot of things, they'd have me coming back.
juju187 @ Feb 11th 2009 4:41PM
just brought the game on 360 after loving the psp version (which was better because all the unlockables) with some surround sound its a "Good" star wars movie
Rhinosaur @ Feb 11th 2009 4:45PM
An instantly forgettable gaming experience.
After about 10 minutes, it felt like any other saber-centric Star Wars title. Long load times. Bad camera angles. What's the use in having "never-before seen" Force powers when the enemies in the game are so darn hard to kill?
I wish they would have put time into a next-gen only release instead of making a game for every conceivable format (I think they made it for Atari 2600, too), maybe then it would have been better.
emax @ Feb 11th 2009 5:01PM
I have it for 360, and while its not an "Epic" game, i enjoyed it. I have played through it a few times, and it gets better each time. Some of the bosses are stupidly difficult. However nothing is perfect. This game definitely warrants a 2nd. The next one could be a totally new story, but based on the same game engine etc...
I'd like to see some kind of co-op with joint force powers. And potentialy some kind of multi player. you dont need to have a free for all, but some kind of Horde mode, like gears of war 2, or multi player mission based games would be sweet.
Danshini @ Feb 11th 2009 6:05PM
That's pretty dame good in game sales, but there however a lot of star wars fans that will buy most star wars games because it says "star wars".
Its a shame that TFU wasn't on the pc, there is always so much potential in mods these days, however the next star wars game they should do is just dedicate a game to Darth vader, and just play Darth vader, so like you start as anakin and you work your way up and become Darth vader.
Now i know there was a star wars episode 3 game which had that same idea but i only played the gamboy advance version which was awesome, so I'm basically asking whether or not anyone liked the console versions of episode 3?

Odd I swear I typed a response in there. I passed on this and am waiting on a good deal on it to try it out. I heard mixed reviews, and looks like I wasn't the only one.
Scooter @ Feb 11th 2009 6:20PM
I only read the TPB but that was awesome so I can't imagine it in motion.
Don @ Feb 11th 2009 7:19PM
Wow, really? You're talking about the comic, right? I wondered if anybody would read it without playing the game.
I wrote my take on that awhile back...

If you liked the story in the TPB, you'll really like the game.
tmontana213 @ Feb 11th 2009 7:19PM
The N-Gage is still around?! WTF?!?!?!?!
Aaron @ Feb 12th 2009 4:13AM
N-Gage as a phone is dead. N-Gage as an 'app store' for Nokia smartphones is alive and very much kicking.
Weezer @ Feb 11th 2009 10:46PM
I had fun with it. Glitchy and short, but force push has never felt so good.
