This Wednesday (also): Minesweeper Flags comes to XBLA

Brace yourself for a Wednesday morning freak-out. We've already done our "This Wednesday" post for this week (3 on 3 NHL Arcade, thank you for asking) and now we're doing it ... again. Because XBLA will be welcoming not one game to the service this week, but two. And the other one ... is Minesweeper ... no, not on your digital watch, on your 360.

Technically, TikGames' new release is Minesweeper Flags 400

($5), which includes a new mode wherein -- get this -- you try to find the mines. We told you, this post is a mindf**k. Dogs, cats, mass hysteria, the whole bit.

Ill buy this game only if it lets me do a custom game thats 100x100 with only 10 mines...
I love playing that way because it makes me feel good....

I myself prefer creating a 24 by 30 grid with 668 mines and laugh friends who try to solve it!

Well, the Windows version won't actually let you set up a game like that, but it would be extremely easy if it did. On the Windows version the first square you reveal is never a mine, so in your set-up you would win every time.

Not really *fresh*. Minesweeper flags was a free game on MSN Messenger about... 5-6 years ago? Not sure if it's still around, though.

Looks like they are running a little short on ideas these days. I almost wish they'd just go back to porting arcade titles and console titles over, these "original" games have been more bad than good. Once in a while you get a Castle Crashers or Braid, but usually it's all Dr. Chaos or Minesweeper.

They need to port the old D&D arcade beat-em-ups, the pinnacle of the genre (experience levels, unique characters, multiple paths to the end, awesomeness).

We got R-Type 1 and 2 just last week... complete with classic and new 3D graphics that you can switch between on the fly.

Kizzle, if you're talking about TMNT2 the Arcade Game for NES; you should probably realize that the 1989 arcade game that's already on XBLA is the same thing, only better in every way.

Now Turtles in Time, on the other hand. Hot damn, would that be good.

If you really want the D&D games, you've got to tell Capcom that. They've been extremely responsive to fan demands lately.

Personally, I have D&D Collection for Saturn, so I'm good :D

How about they put in that pinball game included since Windows 95 with the space theme? I've spent a lot of hours playing that.

The "Find a Mine" mode has been a free MSN messenger game for quite a while now. not really a new concept, but still a very fun mode. ill jsut stick to playing the MSN messenger game and PC version for MINE fixes
