It's weird how all the JRPGs seem to be moving to the handhelds.

It's a great platform for them. I'm waiting for Chrono and FF to come down in cost before jumping in myself...

Just go with "tear" and then "cry" with a "tz" at the end. Don't forget to roll that tongue a few times.

Didn't know it was a german word. tierkreis = zodiac. Good to know, hard to pronounce.

Actually, don't roll the tounge. See, the letter "R" when speaking English is formed with the front part of your mouth (mostly the tongue), while in German you'd use the back part of your mouth with the sound coming from the throat. Hard to explain but the process is kind of similar to when you gargle after brushing your teeth only it's dry (okay, exaggerating that will make you sound ridiculous).

The first "R" ist "soft" (forget the gargle thing there as you barely even hear the letter there) and the second one is pronounced like I tried to explain.

Also it's not "tz" at the end but more like you would pronounce "ice". Other than that, it's pretty much what the guy before me said. So "tear"-"K"-"German R"-"ice"

Sorry if that confused you guys even more. I usually don't think about how I pronounce words or letters when speaking German. :D

I'm sure you're right on the "ice." My German is slim and I've heard way too many mispronunciations to remember what's right or wrong half the time. Add in the differences between the North and South regions and I'll probably be wrong 3/4's of the time.

Oh I see. Better don't try to pick anything up from the south. Most of the really heavy dialects are from there. I live in the North at the moment and the language spoken where I live is pretty close to what you'd hear on TV or the radio. When you go to some of the rural areas of Bavaria for example I bet, you would find people who butcher "Tierkreis" even worse. (no offense to the people there I just think it makes learning the language so much harder)

*sigh* I love my DS and I love RPGs, but there are too many coming out too close together. I'm going to end up passing over something good, I just know it.

What do they mean "The deepest hand-held RPG"? Will it worsen my carpal tunnel syndrome?

Chrono Trigger and Suikoden are stylus only , so no d-pad mashing, just lots of simple little taps. So those two are carpel tunnel friendly(er).

Going to be getting it. Apart from the atrocious IV (what the hell were they thinking?), this series has been very good to me.

They really kept the German word in it. That will cause many interesting dialogues.
"Hi, I would like to buy Sooeekouden Terrcreace." "What? Oh, you mean Swikoden Tearc-Rice?" "That's what I said!"

hehe. the trailer already pronounces it wrong: not "teerkreece" but "tearkrice". "ei" in "Kreis" is a diphthong and pronounced as in "rice". See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diphthong#German

Off-topic. Can't Joystiq make their flash video player to remember my audio volume level? Just like e.g. YouTube player does. I have hooked up to my PC very good (and quite powerful hi-fi) speakers and if video starts with something loud, I pretty sure my neighbors +/- 2 floors are hearing it well.

He didn't pronounce it so bad. :/

That is a sick trailer though, too bad I haven't played any of the other games of the series.

Agreed on the DS RPG glut. I love RPGs but the little handheld is starting to be weighed down by them. Games are great and all, but how long can you stare at that little screen =/ Where's the DS player for the Wii Nintendo?

Tierkreis apparently means Zodiac in German...huh! Oh, and that announcer on the trailer reminds me of Paublo Francisco's impression of the movie guy. Way to butcher the pronunciation of Suikoden (it's "su-ee-koh-den" not "sweekodin").

The editing is cool, but "A New Hero will Emerge", "The Adventure of a Lifetime" "A More Powerful Force Will Assemble"? Really? Doesn't that seem like every other RPG out there? But with newer and more? Oh well. Guess you can't expect much from DS trailers. I'll wait and see.

This looks like the DS RPG I have waited for since launch. Finally, a non-remake/port, an ORIGINAL RPG that actually looks promising and engaging and really fun to play.

I'm liking the ability to hire others over Wi-Fi. This may well have the co-op elements I was hoping for without it turning into a full MMORPG. Looks interesting too.
