GTA IV's 'The Lost and Damned' soundtrack detailed
When it was revealed that Liberty City's radio stations and TV would get an injection of fresh content with the Xbox 360-exclusive add-on, The Lost and Damned, we wondered just how much new music we'd get to hear. Well, the wondering is over, as MTV has posted details on the upcoming add-on pack's music content.
If you're a fan of hip-hop and rap, then you're in luck. The Beat 102.7 is getting a new show, hosted by Funkmaster Flex, as well as a slew of new songs (some recorded specifically for GTA) and another new show DJed by Statik Selektah. Then there's Busta Rhymes, who will have another track featured other than his upcoming premiere of "Conglomerate."
On the other end of the spectrum, metal station Liberty City Hardcore is getting some fresh content with a new show DJed by Max Cavalera of Sepultura and Soulfly fame (click here for a sample of his brand of metal) and will feature new tunes, including artist Bathory. On Liberty Rock Radio 97.8, Iggy Pop will return as DJ, and the station will get some new tracks, and indie-rock Radio Broker, DJed by Juliette Lewis, will also receive some new music.
Interesting factoid: the new music and shows will play first, before the established music and shows, allowing the new content to have priority with players. So that's nice.

lol @ the word bubbles.
Altairio @ Feb 12th 2009 1:19PM
Hinkle, were you listening to NPR today before writing this? That song was playing for one of their stories and it was just way too coincedental.
David Hinkle @ Feb 12th 2009 5:04PM
Actually, no, not a NPR listener myself. Basically, I tried to think of a song so bad that, should you get caught listening, it would get you killed by your biker gang buddies. That's when I thought of "Barbie Girl."
Anam @ Feb 12th 2009 11:12AM
Those details weren't that detailed.
ANTHOLOGY @ Feb 12th 2009 1:29PM
Yeah i agree, where is a list of new songs?
Tiptup300 @ Feb 12th 2009 2:34PM
I just see a wall of text and no artists/song titles.
copa @ Feb 12th 2009 11:12AM
Radio Broker! I had that station on 90% of the time. That's a big plus for me when deciding whether to buy the DLC.
baby sea tuna @ Feb 12th 2009 11:26AM
Yeah, that was probably the best station on there.
Rambeaux @ Feb 12th 2009 11:14AM
"Life in Plastic, it's fantastic!"
jasu @ Feb 12th 2009 11:15AM
Nothing new for Vladivostok?
Pfft. Nothankyou.jpg.

Now now, let's avoid using any memes or jokes that Kotaku has driven into the ground.
Crecente is still a bitch.
(but yes, I do comment there now and then)
Jerk Face @ Feb 12th 2009 11:16AM
Max Cava-fuckin-lera!? That is so god damned tight.
dark_inchworm (on Steam!) dark inchworm (on XBL!) @ Feb 12th 2009 11:45AM
It almost reads "Manny Calavera."
Cool enough for me.
M. @ Feb 12th 2009 1:24PM
yea nu metal 4 lifeeeeee!
Jerk Face @ Feb 12th 2009 11:54AM
Nu metal!? Are you kidding me!? Sepultura started up over twenty years ago!
M. @ Feb 12th 2009 1:26PM
Yes, and now they're nu metal. And have been since the mid-90s. And Soulfly is HORRIBLE.
And "tight" is something a Korn fan would say, or a rap fan might have said 10 years ago.
arrrgh @ Feb 12th 2009 1:45PM
M: you're a moron.
sincerely: most people
Heh @ Feb 12th 2009 2:17PM
"Yes, and now they're nu metal. And have been since the mid-90s. And Soulfly is HORRIBLE."
Actually, if they had a different drummer you could call them nu-metal. However, the drummer they have right now classifies them more as "groove metal" than anything else.
And Cavalera Conspiracy was a good side-project from Max. Some of that pure brutality and tribal roots (bloody roots!) from sept is there, mainly in songs such as "Nevertrust", "Must Kill", "Sanctuary", and "Dark Ark".
David Hinkle @ Feb 12th 2009 5:06PM
I actually like Soulfly. Thanks for killing my self-esteem. :'(
Jerk Face @ Feb 12th 2009 6:04PM
You and me both, buddy.
M. @ Feb 13th 2009 1:36AM
Groove metal is practically another term for nu-"metal." It's pathetic, Raffi-esque stuff made for the Wal-Mart crowd.
As for you, David HInkle, assuming you weren't being sarcastic -- don't let some troll get you done!
Halo2Master @ Feb 12th 2009 11:18AM
No more Fusion or Tuff Gong stuff? Dang.
Mimglow @ Feb 12th 2009 11:20AM
Iggy Pop FTW.
Heh @ Feb 12th 2009 2:18PM
Hell yeah!
butaneko @ Feb 12th 2009 11:22AM
This seems like an impressively robust bit of DLC which I find myself actually kind of looking forward to. I was initially annoyed at the long wait but considering the insane holiday flurry of games it probably wouldn't have interested me before now. Besides it takes a little time for my GTA-jonesing to replenish itself.
baby sea tuna @ Feb 12th 2009 11:28AM
I've gotta say, I am getting more and more excited for this to come out.
Dr Jeckyl and Mr ESC. @ Feb 12th 2009 11:29AM
I'm back
back in the New York groove
I'm back
back in the New York groove
I'm back in the New York groove. in the New York groove.
why not the LS2LS7? @ Feb 12th 2009 11:40AM
Could they just allow me to change the music in the bar when I'm playing pool because the goddamn game wants me to play pool with another person when I instead should be out being a criminal?
I never want to hear that damn reggae station again.
Halo2Master @ Feb 12th 2009 11:50AM
Yeah right dude, Tuff Gong is the shit.
Markez @ Feb 12th 2009 11:53AM
Still blows me away how turrible the GTAIV soundtrack was in comparison to SR2.
Rambeaux @ Feb 12th 2009 2:00PM
Any game with Queen on the soundtrack wins. Forever.
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Feb 12th 2009 2:21PM
If you actually think SR2 had a better soundtrack, I suggest you get better tastes in music.
sethcheek @ Feb 12th 2009 11:59AM
So will the new radio content be available to Niko's adventure too, or just the Lost & Damned stuff?
theguy @ Feb 12th 2009 12:09PM
Excited for this DLC... It seems like they are going to chance the way DLC is approached by developers, which is a good thing...
@Halo2Master - Fusion Radio was easily my favorite station in IV. Wish they had some new tunes. Love riding through the city at night playing some intelligent jazz fusion
dunnypop @ Feb 12th 2009 12:09PM
Max Cavalera! goddamn what a legend!
xGeneral DEATHx @ Feb 12th 2009 2:35PM
That avatar is a legend! Where did you get that??
dunnypop @ Feb 12th 2009 2:45PM
I just did some screen captures with the Aqua Teen Hunger force movie intro.
Mazrael @ Feb 12th 2009 12:28PM
I used to go between the rock/metal stations.. til I got bored with changing the stations everytime I got into another car.. where I just turned the music off from the menu..
Kizzle @ Feb 12th 2009 1:18PM
Bathory? Nice. Call From The Grave, pur-leez.
Wubbytoes @ Feb 12th 2009 4:48PM
The fact that Bathory is in there at all is good enough for me.
StarCasm, formerly known as Rastafario, formerly known as HB96st @ Feb 12th 2009 1:27PM
Massive B!!
Bearn-Bearn-Bearn-Beeeeeaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrnnn!!!!!!
After I finally beat GTAIV, I think I'm gonna frame it and put it on my wall.. It's that good.
ChiTownRuler23 @ Feb 12th 2009 1:29PM
this is great both of those stations are my favorite
Rabidkeebler @ Feb 12th 2009 2:00PM
I was a little dissapointed with the alt rock and non heavy metal rock that was available in the game. I'm sorry, but so much of the stuff on Broker, and especially Liberty Rock Radio wasn't rock. So much of the music featured synthesizers and no guitar (or hidden guitar). It was a severe dissapointment (Especially Liberty Rock Radio). I can give Broker a pass for going the route of tech-alternative. But you can't have 3 rock songs on a pop station and call it Liberty Rock Radio.
I'm just hoping for a little more rock and a little less synthesizer is all.
343 Guilty Fart @ Feb 12th 2009 2:20PM
More Sisters of Mercy please. How about Vision Thing? "25 whores in the room next door" - perfect!
Tyson @ Feb 12th 2009 2:22PM

pete @ Feb 12th 2009 6:07PM
hellooooooooo joystiq, didn't about a million comments make it clear the first time that busta rhymes' Conglomerate isn't being premiered in this game??? the song has been out for over a month already
Who Flang Poo @ Feb 12th 2009 6:55PM
Wow, more crappy music. This DLC is about bikers so get us some biker music. Give us some metal for god sakes and not that nu metal garbage, lol what a joke.
