Rockstar's two PSP Grand Theft Auto games, Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories, may be getting a re-release over the PlayStation Store according to a newsletter sent by SCEE. The original games sold over a million copies each and told new stories in the locales of the classic PS2 games.
A digital re-release of these UMD games is quite enticing, especially as it should alleviate the games' most glaring flaws: lengthy load times. Downloading the game directly to Memory Stick will undoubtedly make these PSP games more accessible and palatable.

I never thought of either title having "lengthy load times" but I do remember not liking the constant streaming sounds of the UMD drive.
If true, they should allow for a upgrade option or trade-in. Same with all of the "legacy UMD" titles that are downloadable from the store. If necessary, I would even send them my UMD in exchange.

Yeah i have the first one, I manually copied it to my Memory Stick. No more swapping UMD's, Loud spins, Long loads and i get better battery life.
since then though i've sent my original UMD to my friend fightingin in Afghanistan. I dont think that counts as pirating since im done w/ the game and haven't touched my back up copy yet.....

What I don't get is why they so often price these old, digital releases at or above retail price. These two games are $19.99 or less everywhere. Let's see what they price the downloads at....

They should modify them slightly to run at 333MHz, then the framerate would be a lot better.

Both of these were a lot of fun on the PS2. Particularly Vice City Stories, which had a really fun Empire Building system in it.
More fun than GTA IV, and with better camera and lighting.

I never tried these GTA games on my PSP. I guess I'm definitely downloading these if and when they come out on the Store.
