Did anyone else happen to notice Wii Fit outsold the Wii itself? How does a year-old game do THAT?

from my experience, word of mouth advertising is the reason.

I used to have the first Mario Teaches Typing back in the day... it wasn't that great.

Interestingly enough, the game Tribes taught me how to type quickly. It seems that getting shot at is a better motivator that breaking blocks. Who would have thunk it?

Somebody slop a thick greasy coat of recession-proofing onto these consoles, please....

The consoles are all pretty much recession proof, except for the extremely overpriced PS3 and the near dead PS2. Both the 360 and Wii sales have had major sales increases over January 2008.

Just as a refresher...

Sales for January 2008 vs 2009

Wii = 274,000 vs 679,000 (405,000 increase)
360 = 230,000 vs 309,000 (79,000 increase)

PS3 = 269,000 vs 203,000 (66,000 DECREASE)

It's only Sony that's having a problem. MS and Nintendo are doing just fine.

December was such a huge month obviously that there was no where to go but down. Impressive that the 360 is still beating the shit out of the ps3 though.

Lol 3rd place for sony this generation. Revenge is great.

I see your extremely sad career here at joystiq is continuing. I swear you're becoming so much of a loser that I, someone who's a hardcore gamer and WoW player, can say that to you without hesitation.

It's no secret who it is to people who've been here forever. He constantly gets banned for idiotic statements and keeps coming back for some reason. If that's not the very definition of having no life, then I dont know what is.

It's fun to watch the ps3 become the dreamcast of this generation.

Except that the Dreamcast had tons of cult classics, and is still a system people love after 8 years.... Typing of the Dead ftw

Dreamcast still died...and to be accurate there is still a cult for 8 Tracks, but that doesn't make them relevant.
